Kai frowned as he looked at Sir Dao.

Just looking at the old man's face brought shivers down his spine.

"Your daughter?" he exclaimed. "I don't think I even know her!"

Sir Dao mirrored his frown. He poked Kai's chest, but he didn't budge, causing the old man to click his tongue in frustration.

"You're acting innocent!" Sir Dao exclaimed. "So, you don't know Suzy Mei?"

Kai's mind started procuring a photo of Sir Dao's female version in his head. He knew that it wasn't his daughter's fault, but Kai would find it really unfortunate if a woman looked like Sir Dao.

"Of course not! Wait—Suzy Mei?" Kai asked, dumbfounded.

"Yes," Sir Dao exclaimed. "My precious daughter, Suzy Mei! That girl is only interested in cheerleading. What did you do to make her confess to you on the court last Friday?"

Sir Dao continued to scold him, but Kai was still lost for words.

He covered his mouth with his hand and shook his head.

"Dang," he said after a while. "Your wife's genes must be superior."

Sir Dao stopped ranting after he heard what Kai had just said.

"Yah!" he exclaimed. "It's not the time to bring my wife into this. Stop seducing my daughter."

Kai scratched the back of his neck. "I'm not seducing her," he explained. "I'm not even interested in her like that."

Sir Dao's frown deepened. "So, what are you saying? My daughter is not likeable?"

Kai was taken aback.

"She's not up to your standard, is that it? You're not interested in her? How could you not be?" he asked.

Kai felt his head aching with Sir Dao's voice.

"What do you even want, sir?" he asked.

Sir Dao clicked his tongue, placing his index and middle finger before his eyes and pointing them at Kai.

"I'm watching you!" he said before walking away, leaving Kai a confused mess.

Kai shook his head and sighed. "I swear, that old guy is my greatest enemy."

With that, he glanced at his watch once again. His eyes widened when he saw the time, and he scrambled to get to his classroom.

He ran like he was in an intense match, slamming the door open as he finally arrived.

Some of his classmates jolted in surprise by the sound of the door slamming open, but Kai didn't pay them much attention.

He walked to his seat with a disappointed expression.

Bao, on the other hand, greeted him with a cheerful smile. "Well, you're early," he said.

Kai clicked his tongue and shook his head, bringing his head down to his table.

Bao tilted his head to the side in confusion. "Kai, you alright?"

Two weeks passed by quickly, and before they knew it, the Shizi Dogs were bound for another game.

Their game with the Xing Stars was scheduled for a Saturday morning. Meanwhile, the game with the Knights and the Rams was set for the afternoon.

Lina arrived at their merch booth, where she saw more people lining up compared to last week.

She sighed and shook her head. "We're getting more and more popular as time passes."

Just then, Renren comes from behind her and pats her shoulder.

Lina clicked her tongue as she set up their items.

"It's still you this week?" she asked.

"Yup," Renren said. "Yuze's coming around later."

Lina frowned. "Kun's not joining us this week?"

Renren shrugged. "I don't know. Yuze said that Kun has something to do."

"Alright," she said.

Lina sat on the chair, and Renren sat next to her. With that, they started entertaining the customers, who asked for Kai's merch right away.

Renren looked at the pile of Kai's merch and sighed. "You've produced more this time."

"Yes," Lina said. "I anticipated the demand."

"Why is my pile so small then?" Renren asked.

Lina smiled. "Ask your fans."

Renren scratched the back of his neck. "Well, you don't have to destroy me like that. Kai's fans are on another level, I swear."

Lina pursed her lips and nodded. "Yeah," she said.

"Speaking of Kai," Renren said. "Have you confessed to him yet?"

Lina remained silent, which already answered the question.

Renren clicked his tongue. "I thought you were going to confess after the game with the Feng Foxes!"

Lina glared at him. "Be quiet, will you?"

"Besides," she muttered. "Do you think I can do that when Suzy Mei beat me to it?"

Renren nodded slowly. "Yeah, I remember that. It was epic! I felt like I was watching a teen drama in real life."

Lina glared at him once more, causing Renren to chuckle.

"I don't see a problem with you confessing, too," he said. "Kai didn't even accept her feelings from what I've heard."

"Even then," Lina said. "This is Suzy Mei we're talking about! Almost every boy in the school wants her! She's petite, has a curvy body, can dance well, and has good grades."

"Well, if you put it that way."

Lina slapped Renren's shoulder, causing him to exclaim in pain.

"What the heck?" he said. "I swear—you'll be a really good volleyball player."

"You said it already, though," he added. "Almost every boy! Who knows? Kai isn't like most boys."

Lina sighed and shook her head. "It's complicated," she said.

Aside from the timing of Suzy's confession, her dad's statement also wouldn't leave her mind.

"Yuze also told me to hold onto my confession while the games are still ongoing," she said.

"Ah," Renren said. "That—I could understand. Maybe after this one? We'll be sure to head to the Nationals if we win this game anyway, so shoot your shot."

Lina remained silent, not knowing how to respond.

"Speak of the devil!" Renren said, nudging Lina's shoulder and pointing to their side.

Lina stopped tending to a customer for a moment to look at where Renren was pointing.

"It's Kai," he said.

"…and he's with Suzy."
