Chapter 382 - 382: The Secret Vault (Fourth Release to Summon the Guaranteed Monthly Tickets)
Chapter 382: Chapter 382: The Secret Vault (Fourth Release to Summon the Guaranteed Monthly Tickets)
The books were not difficult to divide, as they could be copied; however, not everyone was qualified to copy them. Rewards would be given based on one’s contribution.
Before the process of copying commenced, everyone unanimously agreed that it was best to entrust them to Feng Jun for safekeeping.
He was the only one who was on good terms with all the present forces, and given his distinguished status, entrusting him with the task put everyone at ease.
The division of Spirit Weapons was also straightforward. Feng Jun had already chosen a Spirit Blade and then selected another blade and a sword, leaving the rest for others.
Gold and silver treasures were actually the hardest to divide since, for most martial masters, wealth was their highest pursuit.
Take Deng Yifu, for instance, the former Deputy Head of the Escort Bureau and an Intermediate Level martial master. If it wasn’t for his sons gaining influential connections, he would still be struggling to make a living.
However, the several hundred people present today were divided into various powers. Once the larger shares were distributed, internal coordination would suffice.
Feng Jun had little interest in gold and silver treasures, so he let Lang Zhen handle the division, trusting that no one would deny him this respect.
As for Natural Treasures, Feng Jun already had plenty at hand, and the Gu Family’s stockpile lacked anything particularly outstanding. Most weren’t even comparable to his own collection; he simply wanted half of them.
The remaining half… Deng Yifu, you go divide it.
Elixirs… Feng Jun wanted more as well; you really can’t have too many good things, and they didn’t exist on Earth Plane yet.
However, considering the people close to him, across both planes, there were only about a dozen, and allowing some surplus for future growth… a mid-term target of two hundred people would be sufficient.
But just the offspring of the Tian, Mi, and Yu Clans alone, how many needed Elixirs? Definitely more than two thousand!
Therefore, Feng Jun only took thirty percent for himself, and left the remaining seventy percent… Yu Zhengqing, you divide it.
With such a gesture, others expressed their admiration, praising the Divine Doctor for his noble and unclouded spirit.
In reality, everyone thought that since the Immortal Family disdained mere mortal elixirs, leaving more for them was natural, and it would be uncouth not to appreciate the gesture.
In summary, the allied forces breached an ancient and well-established clan and, thanks to a universally respected figure, avoided major conflict, which was quite rare.
But dividing the spoils wasn’t something to be finished in a short time. As dusk approached, Mr. Shi suggested, “It’s better to let the Divine Doctor arrange for the transportation of these items back to Zhige first, then we can focus on rounding up the remnants, alright?”
“Sure,” everyone agreed readily, as they all trusted Feng Jun, and dealing with the remnants of the Gu Family was indeed necessary.
As for how the Divine Doctor would transport the items, no one asked—they all pretended not to know about his Storage Bag.
As the majority went to search for the remnants, others stayed behind to cook and chat, leaving only a few leaders conversing.
Brother Bao lamented, “A thousand-year clan is really just that, my family still has a Seven-Colored Ribbon Grass.”
Yu Changzhu bristled and retorted, “If there were Spiritual Objects that could help one reach the Innate level, would the Gu Family not use them? Keep in mind, the Gu Family does have an Innate Expert who advanced in ranks at the Wonderful Hand Pavilion.”
“Your words aren’t entirely correct,” Mr. Shi glanced at her and shook his head with a smile, “The Gu Family’s Innates have been unbroken in succession, as long as that continues without needing to worry about simultaneous bloom… Perhaps they still have valuable items that we haven’t found. Am I right, Divine Doctor?”
Feng Jun gave him a peculiar look, “What are you implying with these words?”
Mr. Shi chuckled nonstop, “Seeing the Divine Doctor unaffected by honor or disgrace, certainly, there must be some other discovery.”
Feng Jun rolled his eyes, “Even if there is another discovery, it’s my affair… I was actually planning to retrieve it later tonight.”
“If you go now to retrieve it, for sure it will all be yours,” Mr. Shi spoke earnestly, “I’m speaking on behalf of the Imperial Court. I just want to know, does the Gu Family have any ace up their sleeve… It would be odd if they had none at all.”
Feng Jun gazed at him deeply, then, without another word, stood up and walked away.
“No way,” exclaimed the younger sibling of the Yu family, astonished, “Is there really something more?”
There was indeed more. In addition to the inner storehouse, the Gu Family had a smaller storage room located between the ancestral hall and the inner storehouse, within the courtyard of the ancestral hall.
During the afternoon, Feng Jun took notice of this place because he was bored and searched for “nearby weapons.”
The search showed a “Treasure Mace” within five hundred meters—a true Treasure Weapon that could only showcase its power in the hands of a real Immortal.
Then, guess what else Feng Jun discovered? He found Spirit Stones, right beside the Treasure Mace!
This must be the Gu Family’s true secret vault. What was that ordinary storehouse for daily expenses in comparison? It was merely slightly better than the external warehouse.
The real secret vault should only be touched by the Gu Family’s elite at the pinnacle of their development when they could find no further paths to progress.
Feng Jun believed that this secret vault wouldn’t be large and would definitely be hidden. If such a storehouse had been detected by the Official Government, it would be a great failure for the clan.
Initially, he wanted to retrieve the items stealthily without drawing attention, but he never expected Mr. Shi to bring it up.
Feng Jun did not know Mr. Shi’s real intentions—whether he had received some inside information or was merely making an offhand remark.
He was somewhat wary of this man; backed by the Imperial Court, the man held many secrets and acted mysteriously. So in his questioning… could there be a deeper meaning?
He had already discovered the hidden vault, and the treasures within must belong to him; he did not want to give the Official Government any excuse to encroach upon them.
So, since the other party had mentioned it, he might as well take it openly, and he was curious to see what they would try to do next.
The vault was located inside the schoolhouse next to the clan hall, where the Gu Family’s clan school was situated, mainly for teaching children.
The schoolhouse was empty at this moment, and Feng Jun made his way with familiarity to one of the side halls.
The side hall was not large, just over twenty square meters, and looked like a place for receiving guests, with not much furnishing.
Feng Jun walked around the side hall twice and arrived at a corner, where he moved aside a potted plant that was over a meter in diameter. He knocked on the floor and, as expected, there was a hollow “thud”—there was space underneath.
Many people were following behind him; seeing this, some showed expressions of “it should be this way,” but more were startled: How did the Divine Doctor know there was something special here?
The vault was locked, with a thick layer of fine iron plate covering it, but of course Feng Jun would use “the metal nearby.”
He did not think too much about it; with the example of the inner vault, he tried to forcefully break in.
With long blade in hand, he slashed three times, and then thumping drum sounds, loud and fast, echoed through the schoolhouse.
Hearing the drum sounds, Feng Jun felt even more at ease; since there was a drum alarm, the likelihood of there being traps below was even smaller.
After seven or eight strikes, he forcefully broke through the fine iron cover and cut it open, revealing the underground vault.
He shone a flashlight down, and there were steps leading down, followed by a horizontal plaque with eight large characters, “Do not enter unless Innate, lest you trespass.”
Upon closer inspection, there was also a line of smaller text above the large characters, “Let the descendants of the Gu Family be informed.”
Feng Jun turned to look at Mr. Shi and asked with a smile, “Shall we go down and take a look together?”
Mr. Shi wore an expression of distress and, after some struggle, inquired, “Do you think I should go down?”
“I don’t mind,” Feng Jun spread his hands, “since everything here is mine anyway. But you should think carefully, these are the words of warning from the Gu family ancestors.”
“I always feel it’s a warning to the Gu family descendants not to be greedy,” Mr. Shi stroked his chin and, after much hesitation, spoke up, “there should be records of the clan’s major events inside… These items would be of no use to you.”
“Stop right there,” Feng Jun gave him a cold glance, “Even if they’re useless, they’re still my possessions. Besides… who told you they are of no use to me?”
“I didn’t mean that,” Mr. Shi did not take offense but simply smiled and explained, “Many great families have done things that cannot withstand scrutiny. To the Imperial Court, those are dubious cases… Right and wrong must eventually be judged publicly.”
“What of it?” Yu Changzhu spoke coldly, “When my Yu Family was falsely accused and torn apart into three branches, what did the Imperial Court do? You have already said… everything here belongs to the Divine Doctor.”
How could Mr. Shi know the details of the Yu Family’s wrongful accusation? Even if he were well-versed in knowledge, he could not possibly know everything, so he could only respond with a wry smile, “I have no intention of taking anything… I merely wish to borrow and take a look.”
“Alright,” Feng Jun nodded and headed down, yet in his heart, he was pondering: Is this your true purpose?
The vault was not very large, and the items stored there were not numerous; at least they could be surveyed at a glance.
An old, brown wooden box contained a single-handed mace that was two and a half feet long, with a black luster that was dull and lackluster.
Besides that was a Jade box—indeed a Jade box made of Mutton Fat White Jade, divided into nine compartments, each housing one Spirit Stone. However, three of the compartments were empty, meaning there were only six Spirit Stones.
There were also two bottles made of neither gold nor stone, with the words “Nourishing Qi Pill” inscribed on them.
On seeing these three characters, Feng Jun was momentarily taken aback: Were these Nourishing Qi Pills meant for the consumption of Cultivators?
This was indeed a windfall!
One had to admit, the Gu Family’s accumulation was indeed profound, to have even Immortal’s Treasure Mace, Spirit Stones, and Pills.
He wondered if there were any Cultivation Techniques? Feng Jun took another look and found more than a dozen books, as well as a few other boxes.
He had been down a long time! Feng Jun did not want to delay any longer, so he briefly looked through the books and indeed found the Yangshan Gu Family Chronicles, the Gu Family Genealogy, and the Fairy Market Chronicles, among other notes.
There were two books that seemed to have some significance, one called the Chaos Sky Swallowing Technique, and the other called Basic Talisman Script Introduction.
Another book, astonishingly, was a Cultivator’s manual, the Small Kunpeng Body Technique, and it was explicitly marked: Body technique for the Ascendant phase.
Feng Jun packed up these three manuals along with other items and sent them directly to the Earth Plane.
There were other things in those items, too, which he did not have the chance to examine in detail.
Feng Jun kept in his hands one Treasure Mace, eleven books, two Spirit Stones, and a bottle of Nourishing Qi Pills.
With these items in his possession, he emerged from the vault back to the ground.
