Chapter 298: Chapter 298: Your Life Belongs to Me

Seeing the confusion on Abram's face, William laughed heartily and said, "A few days ago, I sent John Wick to meet your brother, Viggo Tarasov. I hoped to arrange a meeting between you two brothers in Boston to discuss matters that concern us all."

"Pushkin?" Abram asked.

"That's right. I have some issues with Mr. Pushkin's actions, but I wasn't sure how to communicate them. So, I sent someone to visit Mr. Pushkin's base in Boston. Unfortunately, the conversation didn't go well, so my people had to go to Moscow to speak with him directly."

Abram immediately understood that the young man in front of him was the mastermind behind the recent internal strife in their gang. He was also the catalyst for the brothers' decision to leave the organization. The so-called "conversation" was just a pretext for sending people to deliver a one-way ticket to hell. Not only had they killed their men, but now they were also targeting the boss behind the scenes. The ultimate goal was undoubtedly to swallow their entire gang.

Abram swallowed nervously. He knew he had no way out. If he didn't agree, he wouldn't leave the Continental Hotel alive. "Mr. Devonshire, I must remind you that even if you gain our support, you won't be able to truly control our Polar Bear gang."

"No, no, no, I think you misunderstand, Abram," William said, narrowing his eyes. "I don't have such a large appetite. I'm not interested in managing your organization. It's not very profitable, it's troublesome, and it won't be accepted by mainstream society. To me, it's like a piece of Casu Marzu cheese—though it's valuable, I just can't stomach something that looks good on the outside but is crawling with maggots on the inside."

Abram's heart skipped a beat. He wondered what this super-rich man, who dismissed a gang capable of generating billions of dollars in profit each year, truly wanted.

"Mr. Devonshire, why don't you just say what you want?"

"I need a proxy. I heard that your group's records of bribes across the entire East Coast are in the hands of your brother Viggo," William said with a smile.

"How do you know about that?" Abram asked in horror. This was the most closely guarded secret of their group, and even he had only heard rumors.

"Don't worry about how I know," William said, narrowing his eyes. "I need a backup copy. Also, when I need it, your group will help me solve some problems. As for Winston's compensation, just as you mentioned, hand over your intelligence network and 30% of your group's profits over the next five years to Winston. That's not too much to ask, is it?"

Abram looked at Winston, wanting to know if William could make decisions on this matter.

Winston just shrugged. Although he didn't fully understand William's reasoning, he trusted that whatever William was doing would not be detrimental to him.

"Alright," Abram agreed after only a brief hesitation. After all, 30% of the profits was much better than the 80% Pushkin demanded. Moreover, William hadn't touched any of their internal powers. Abram was confident that Viggo would also agree since what Viggo cared most about was power and autonomy.

"Great, it seems we've reached an agreement. Although I'd love to have a drink to celebrate, I imagine you're not in the mood."

William then turned to Caron and said, "Can you bring Mr. John Wick over for me?"

"Of course, Mr. Devonshire, please wait a moment," Caron responded, bowing slightly.

A few minutes later, John Wick, dressed in a well-fitted new suit with his hair neatly slicked back, entered the rooftop garden under Caron's guidance.

As he approached, John Wick greeted William and Winston, "Good evening, Mr. Devonshire, Mr. Winston."

"Good evening, John," Winston, who had a good impression of John Wick, smiled and nodded. "I heard you found a girlfriend."

John Wick, a man who killed without blinking, rarely blushed. Yet, hearing this, he shyly nodded and said, "Yes, sir. I never thought someone like me could find true love. Helen is my angel; she has brought a ray of light into my dark life."

"Enough," William interrupted Wick impatiently, still somewhat resentful that Wick had charmed Yulia Orlov's former fiancée. The fact that a cold-blooded killer like Wick had found a girlfriend who was such a saintly woman particularly irked William. Especially seeing the happiness in Wick's eyes, he suddenly had a bad feeling.

"John, this is Abram Tarasov, the brother of Mr. Viggo Tarasov, whom you met before. They have some problems that need handling. Any issues with that?"

"No, sir," John Wick quickly responded, but his face showed a hint of hesitation.

William introduced Abram, "Abram, this is John Wick, a valued member of the Continental Hotel. He's an expert at eliminating opponents—a true specialist. Just ask your brother Viggo, and you'll understand how good Wick really is. Anything involving killing, he can handle."

Abram looked doubtfully at the well-dressed John Wick. He found it hard to believe that this man could be a top assassin. Wick looked more like an actor or a model. "I'm sorry, Mr. Devonshire, but I can't make this decision. I need to check with Viggo first."

"Feel free," William nodded, not minding Abram's caution. Considering that their lives were at stake, it was normal to be careful.

Abram apologized with a nod to William, then took out his phone and walked to the side to call Viggo.

After Abram moved to the corner of the garden, John Wick looked troubled as he turned to William, wanting to say something but not daring to.

John Wick's expression made William, who already had a bad feeling, suddenly recall some past memories. He reacted instantly, surprised. "F*ck, are you planning to retire?"

John Wick looked at William in fear. He hadn't expected that just a slight hesitation on his part would be noticed by William, who not only saw through it but also accurately guessed his intentions. Ever since William revealed Helen's identity to him, Wick had been thinking it over. In the end, he couldn't let go of Helen.

After more than ten years of killing, he was indeed tired of it. So, facing William's stern face, John Wick mustered the courage to say:

"Sir, I beg that this be my last mission. After it's completed, I hope to retire and marry Helen."

"When I was five, I was an orphan. My tribe raised me, but they gave me no warmth or love. While raising me, they merely trained me as a tool. From killing my first sheep at five, to carrying out my first mission and making my first kill at fifteen, to now, in my thirties, after almost twenty years as an assassin, even I feel like I'm just a killing machine. But then I met Helen. She's the only person who has made me feel love, who made me realize I'm still a living human being and not just a machine."

At this point, John Wick's tone grew firm as he looked at William's darkening face without flinching. "So I hope to spend the rest of my life peacefully with the person I love."

But just as John Wick blinked, William, who was several meters away, suddenly appeared in front of him as if he had teleported. Grabbing Wick by the throat, William lifted him into the air.

"It seems you've forgotten, John Wick—your life belongs to me."
