Billionaire: Money and Power

Chapter 33: Chapter 33 – "An Offer You Can’t Refuse"

The Call That Changes Everything

Joshua sat in his office, his fingers drumming against the desk. The city outside was alive as ever, but his mind was elsewhere. The Order was watching, and he knew it was only a matter of time before they made their next move.

His phone buzzed.

Unknown Number.

He picked up, bringing it to his ear. "I was expecting you."

The voice on the other end was smooth, confident. "Then you know what comes next."

Joshua smirked. "Depends. Are you calling to congratulate me or to threaten me?"

A small chuckle. "Neither. We're calling to invite you."

Joshua's eyes narrowed. "Invite me where?"

The voice paused. "To the table."

A Seat Among the Giants

An hour later, Joshua found himself standing in front of an unmarked building in one of Lagos' wealthiest districts. It wasn't flashy, but it had an aura—like the kind of place only those who mattered knew about.

Tunde was beside him, arms crossed. "You sure about this?"

Joshua adjusted his jacket. "Not even a little."

Tunde sighed. "Great. Let's go in."

They stepped inside, past a hallway lined with security cameras and armed guards. A man in a sleek suit guided them to an elevator. No buttons. Just a keycard swipe.

The doors slid open, revealing a massive conference room.

Inside, six people sat around a polished black table. Powerful people. Faces he recognized from news headlines, business empires, and whispered conspiracy theories.

At the head of the table sat a man in a dark blue suit. He gestured to an empty chair. "Joshua. Have a seat."

Joshua walked forward, his footsteps slow, calculated. He sat. Tunde remained standing behind him.

The man smiled. "I assume you know why you're here?"

Joshua leaned back. "I made a mess. A profitable one."

A woman to the left smirked. "And you did it well."

The man at the head nodded. "We don't recruit often, Joshua. But you've caught our attention. You see, we don't just run businesses."

Joshua exhaled. "You run everything."

A small pause. Then the man smiled. "Now you understand."

The Offer

A folder slid across the table. Joshua didn't need to open it. He already knew what was inside.

"You want me to work for you."

The man shook his head. "Not work for us. Work with us."

Joshua raised an eyebrow. "What's the difference?"

Another voice spoke—an older man with silver hair. "Control. You keep your businesses, your power. But now, you answer to us."

Joshua looked around the table. "And if I say no?"

The air in the room shifted.

The woman smirked. "Then you leave here alive, but you won't stay powerful for long."

Joshua chuckled, rubbing his chin. "So it's that kind of offer."

The man at the head folded his hands. "We don't make empty threats. But we'd rather have you with us than against us."

Joshua glanced at Tunde, who remained stone-faced.

He turned back to the table. "What's my first job?"

The man smiled. "Now we're talking."

The First Test

The next morning, Joshua received the details.

A foreign investor. Billionaire. Quietly buying up land across the country, trying to move money through back channels.

The Order wanted him gone.

Joshua sat in his penthouse, staring at the file.

Tunde sipped his coffee. "So, what's the plan?"

Joshua smirked. "Simple. We don't just take him down. We make it look like he did it to himself."

Tunde chuckled. "You really are a bastard."

Joshua grinned. "And they love me for it."

The Setup

Over the next few days, Joshua made moves in the shadows.

A leaked email here. A false document there. A well-placed rumor in the right government office.

By the end of the week, the billionaire was in trouble.

News headlines exploded. Tax fraud. Illegal land acquisitions. International money laundering.

By the time he realized what was happening, it was too late. His assets were frozen, his allies were backing away, and his name was poison.

Joshua watched the chaos unfold from his penthouse.

Tunde checked his phone. "He's fleeing the country."

Joshua leaned back. "Good. One less problem."

The phone buzzed.

Unknown Number: Well played. Welcome to the table.

Joshua smirked.

Now, the real game was about to begin.
