Chapter 5: Chapter Five
Maverick ignored her question and wrapped the belt around his hand.
Aurora's mind instantly went wild. Thoughts of what he could do shrouded her mind.
Would he rape her?
Aurora burst into tears immediately. All because she rejected his offer to have dinner with him?
Before she could even process what was happening, a cold whip lashed across her back.
Aurora gasped and her eyes widened.
"MR. ALEX!!" she screamed loudly. Her tears flowed like a river.
Aurora quivered, shuddered and pleaded for Maverick to stop but he continued with his merciless beating.
He flogged her like a criminal that had committed a gruesome murder.
Each stroke of his belt seared a sharp pain into her back, the cold buckle scratching and bruising her skin on impact.
"Mr. Alex... please," Aurora begged, her voice faltering, her pleas muffled by her tears.
Her throat was hoarse and dry as a result of the multiple pleading. She could barely shout again but Maverick continued with his ruthless punishment.
He flogged her with no atom of remorse.
Aurora felt a liquid trailing down her back. It was blood.
Her body shivered and she could feel her vision slowly becoming dim. Maverick couldn't hear her pleas as he was too engrossed in melting out his punishment on her and neither could she plead again.
Aurora felt herself falling into an abby's of darkness and suddenly everything went black.
•••
"You're awake!" the maid exclaimed on noticing Aurora's fluttering her eyes open.
It took her a while to adjust as she squinted her gaze before fully opening her eyes.
Her eyes scrutinized the entire room she was in and she realized it was her own room in the mansion.
The brilliant rays of sunlight shone through the curtains of the room, feeling the room warmth and light.
How long had she been sleeping?
Aurora's eyes darted to her body. She was on clothes. Who wore her back her clothes? Was it the beast in a human form?
Could it be Maverick? And who carried her back to the room?
Her head ached and she place a hand on it, caressing her temples.
"I prepared a hot bath for you in the bathtub. Check the wardrobe and pick any dress of your choice," the maid said softly to her.
Aurora nodded and flashed her a faint smile. She wasn't truly in the mood for conversation.
Aurora reluctantly stood up from the bed after the maid left. Her legs felt unsteady and heavy, as if rooted to the ground
The door then suddenly open, a maid entered the room and said, "Mr. Alexander wants you to have breakfast with him," she announced.
Aurora shuddered and became doe-eyed immediately. The maid said Maverick would want to have breakfast with her.
Again with this? Her mind instantly flashed back to yesterday when he littered her with strokes for refusing to join him for dinner.
She gulped and her hands felt sweaty in an instant.
She hate him!
Aurora's eyes skimmed down the bruises deposited all over her body.
He beat her and request her to have breakfast with him. who does this?
"Umm, Miss, are you coming?" The young maid probed into her thoughts, snapping her out of it.
She had no choice after all.
Aurora nervously gulped and nodded her head.
That was enough confirmation from her. The maid gave a warm smile and left the room.
A sorry look washed upon her face.
She felt like a helpless animal inside a cage.
After closing the door, Aurora took out her phone from under the bed and walked to the bathroom. She had hidden it yesterday, and luckily it was safe.
Regardless of the situation, Aurora immediately deleted all messages about the kids from her phone. Anyways, there were backup on the computer in the rented room.
After finishing this, she sent a message to her friend, Mia: "Don't call me, and don't let the child call me. I have some issues here. I will come home after it's over. Remember."
Mia replied immediately: "What happened?"
Aurora replied: "Don't worry, I'm fine. Please take care of the kids for me."
After finishing the message, Aurora walked out of the bathroom. She looked around the room, which was unfamiliar to her, but the low-key luxury style made her guess that it was Li Jiancheng's idea.
What did he want to do? Regardless of his intentions, she would definitely not stay here. She had to leave!
Aurora opened the door and looked for the stairs. The house was so big that she almost got lost.
After going downstairs, she saw Maverick sitting down on one of the dinning chairs, taking the fork stuffed with chicken to his lips, he took a bite and slowly ate it, as if taking pity on the animal that had been killed to prepare this meal.
She loathed this man. She hated him, every fiber in her. He was cruel, callous, unkind, manacing, and audaciously wicked, not caring who he hurt as long as he got his way.
Why did her mother married into the Li family?
Why the fuck did her dad used her as a collateral for his loan?
Why did he take a loan from him!?
Aurora didn't know who to hate more; her parents that brought her into this mess or Maverick, her torturer.
Maverick head titled towards the staircase and his eyes had a hint of disgust in them the minute he saw her. He stared at her intensely, as she made her way to the dinning section tremblingly.
Aurora suddenly became self conscious of her steps under his blazing stare.
A dangerous smirk playing drew by the corner of his lips as his eyes assessed her bruised wrists.
Aurora had made sure to put on a gown that would cover her entire body, thereby hiding the inhumane marks he gave her.
It was a shame it couldn't cover her wrist as this monster had his eyes on her now red wrists.
"Now you know the punishment for disobeying my order, don't you?" He sneered, prompting Aurora to meet his glare.
Aurora's voice trembled as she met his intense stare, tears welling up in her eyes. "I hate you!" she exclaimed.
Her statement to him didn't go unnoticed. A malicious smile spread across his face.
He stood up and strolled to her side. Crouching down to her ears, he tucked some strands of her hair behind her ears and brought his lips to her ear.
Aurora shivered as his lips grazed her earlobe, sending shivers down her spine. His warm breath danced across her neck before he whispered ominously, "You belong to me, Aurora Harrison. Accept your destiny, and spare yourself the trouble."
