Black Clover : Starting with Two Clovers

Chapter 126: A Sword That Eats Devils

Ripples of time burst outward from the battlefield.

Among all magical attributes, aside from the Four Great Elements—Wind, Fire, Earth, and Water—the rest are considered sub-attributes: sand magic, poison magic, etc.

Normally, there is no hierarchy between these attributes, at least not for mages.

But when it comes to devils, most attributes are ineffective, unable to inflict any real harm.

Except one: the Nether Domain.

"Nether Domain" isn't a specific attribute, but rather a classification.

Time Magic, Light & Dark Magic, Sealing Magic, World Tree Magic…

They all fall under the Nether Domain, because these magics can actually harm or even kill devils.

Why?

Because they can lock onto a devil's frequency and generate feedback.

Other magics don't even operate on the same channel, so they're useless.

At this moment, time magic had slowed the entire battlefield.

The devil's movements became sluggish, like he was stuck in a swamp.

He couldn't ignore time magic, but he could resist it.

With a roar, his devil power exploded outward.

> "AARGHH!! No!! I refuse to believe this!!"

He screamed in madness, clutching a black trident in his hand.

Its dark energy clashed violently with the surrounding time field.

> "Desperation move incoming!"

"Ethan, be careful!"

Anyone could tell the devil was preparing a do-or-die attack.

Even looking at that dark aura sent chills through their bones.

> "Your trident… made of plastic, or what?"

Ethan sneered, gripping the Sovereign Sword, and swung it casually.

The infamous trident—capable of breaking through all forms of magic—was shattered instantly.

CRACK—!

It crumbled like petals drifting in the wind.

And the Sovereign Sword didn't stop—it continued its arc and sliced clean through the devil's left arm.

SLASH!

The limb separated, black blood spraying, as cheers erupted from the others.

Now that the devil wasn't immortal, even if they couldn't kill him outright, they could hack him into pieces.

And once he was reduced to a limbless stump, he may as well be dead.

> "It really is the Sovereign Sword…"

The devil screamed in agony, not from pain—but from terror.

This sword wasn't a fluke. This wasn't some lucky artifact.

His devil body and forbidden Word Magic were completely useless against it.

> Run. RUN.

> If I live, I can fight again…

His pride and anger meant nothing now. The devil turned and ran for the exit like a desperate gambler.

30 meters...

20 meters...

10 meters...

He could see the portal getting closer, and a hopeful smile crept across his face.

> "Yes… Yes! Almost there!"

But just as he was about to leap through, his body froze.

> "Trying to run, right in front of me? What do you take me for—thin air?"

Ethan's finger pointed toward the exit, expressionless.

The Sovereign Sword had already pierced through the devil—from back to front.

SPURT—

Black blood gushed out as the devil looked down in shock at the glowing blade lodged in his chest.

> "Heal…

Heal…

HEAL!!!"

Like a cornered gambler repeating a prayer, he cast his Word Magic again and again.

But no matter how many times he tried—it didn't work.

His injuries didn't heal, and the sword stayed stuck in his body.

And then came the real horror…

> "My… My power…?!"

He felt it.

Like rivers flooding backward, all his devil energy was being sucked into the sword.

The Sovereign Sword was devouring him—greedily.

> "Shit, am I seeing this right?"

"That sword's eating him, right?!"

"Look—his mana's all being drained into it!"

Everyone watching was frozen in place.

They had no idea what this sword was to begin with, and now it was eating a devil alive?!

> What next, ketchup on the side?

> "Okay… this is cool and all, but… is that really a feature?"

Even Ethan was stunned.

He hadn't known the Sovereign Sword could do this.

Was it a good thing?

After all, devils didn't use normal mana—they used corrupted power.

If the sword got tainted by that, he'd be in trouble.

> "I… can't even control it."

He chuckled awkwardly, watching as the devil's body began to shrink like a deflated balloon, his massive energy collapsing inward.

The devil shriveled up, and then—

BURP!

No one was sure if they'd imagined it, but they all thought they heard the sword burp.

> Like it had just finished dinner.

> "So... it's over?" Ethan muttered.

> "Looks like it."

"He's not reviving."

"No more devil aura anywhere."

They waited a few more minutes in silence.

Still nothing.

Relieved, they all exhaled at once.

Night saw Ethan still holding the sword and asked:

> "Hey... where'd you get that sword? It feels… weirdly familiar."

Swords on this continent only came in two styles:

Big, heavy knight swords like Asta's.

Sleek, elegant rapiers, like the one Night used.

But Ethan's sword had a dragon-shaped hilt and phoenix-shaped body—a style you'd only find across the ocean, in his homeland.

> "Me? I don't really know how to explain it… think of it like Asta's sword—it just came from my blood."

Night nodded. That made sense.

Her homeland had strong cultural ties to ancient Eastern styles, so the sword's aesthetic rang familiar.

> "Wait… look at that sword!"

They didn't even need Asta to point it out.

The Sovereign Sword in Ethan's hand was vibrating violently.

Ethan raised an eyebrow but decided to let go.

WHOOSH—WHOOSH—WHOOSH!

The sword shot into the air, flying around like a freed bird.

Was it doing post-meal stretches?

After spinning around for a few seconds, it stabbed itself into the ground.

No one dared to approach.

What if it wasn't full yet?

What if it decided you looked like a good dessert?

> "Should be… fine now, right?"

Ethan hesitated, then stepped closer.

> "C'mon. You came from my blood. Surely you won't eat me too?"

But just as he was about to touch it—

WHOOSH—!!

The Sovereign Sword lit up with a blazing crimson light, a pillar of energy shooting into the sky.

---

Beyond the battlefield...

In the Clover Kingdom, countless civilians looked up in shock.

The crimson beam linked heaven and earth.

Even far-off places—like the Diamond Kingdom, the Heart Kingdom, and Spade—could see it.

> "That light... haha. Interesting. I didn't expect that..."

"It can't be… That's…"

"How did our clan's treasure end up in the outside world? Send someone—NOW!"

WHOOSH!

The beam lasted a full minute before vanishing.

Ethan stood there, dumbfounded.

> "Wait… where the hell is my sword?!"
