Chapter 189: Chapter 189: The Advancing Kakashi
In the vast and endless desert outside Sunagakure, a fierce battle still raged on the battlefield.
The Allied Shinobi Forces, including the Suna troops and the Konoha rescue squad, were locked in a deadly struggle against the invading forces from Amegakure.
At the center of the chaos, two exceptionally powerful ninja—Kakashi Hatake and Aoi Rokusho—were engaged in an intense duel.
The space between them was tight, as Aoi swung his deadly Thunder God Sword, releasing lethal electric currents, forcing both fighters to keep their distance.
Aoi's teammates understood his nature well—if they got in his way, he would attack without hesitation.
Kakashi's allies, on the other hand, stepped back, because they knew Kakashi's strength and believed he needed no help from anyone.
The Suna ninja had witnessed Kakashi's brave performance, privately grateful that this time Kakashi was their ally rather than their enemy.
"Kakashi, why don't you use your legendary Sharingan?" Aoi taunted mockingly while swinging the Thunder God Sword at Kakashi, who had retreated slightly.
Kakashi didn't even attempt to block with kunai, because he knew doing so would risk electrocution. "Underestimate me and you'll fall within five minutes!"
With practiced agility, Kakashi dodged the attacks from the Thunder God Sword, ducking low to avoid a deadly strike aimed directly at his head.
Kakashi calmly replied, "You might be right… This fight won't last five minutes."
He knew using the Sharingan in this situation would be unwise.
Aoi Rokusho was a veteran warrior who would exploit any opportunity—even manipulating the terrain—for tactical gain.
Moreover, the desert terrain itself presented hazards.
Sand could fly into his eyes at any moment, which could impair his vision and cost him the fight—an unnecessary risk he refused to take.
Kakashi decided he would use the Sharingan only under absolute necessity.
Kakashi put some distance between himself and Aoi before hurling several shuriken. As expected, Aoi effortlessly knocked them away with the Thunder God Sword.
"Kakashi, you underestimate me! You think basic attacks like these can defeat me? I wield the world's most powerful weapon!"
"A weapon's power lies in the one who wields it," Kakashi replied indifferently.
Suddenly, Aoi plunged the Thunder God Sword into the sand, sending a surge of electricity rippling through the ground toward Kakashi.
"Dodge it quickly!" Kakashi shouted, warning his Sunagakure allies.
However, Aoi's attack covered too wide an area and moved too fast; some ninja, including members of the Allied Shinobi Forces and the Wind Country coalition, couldn't evade in time and were struck down instantly.
Kakashi felt grief for the fallen and fury toward Aoi's recklessness. He narrowed his eyes into a steely glare at Aoi before yanking up his forehead protector, revealing the Sharingan he had concealed until now.
In his ruthless pursuit of victory, Aoi unleashed wide-area Ninjutsu without sparing a thought for friendly casualties.
Kakashi realized it was time to end this fight. He couldn't allow Aoi Rokusho to hurt anyone else.
Kakashi quickly formed hand seals, and a powerful surge of white lightning chakra gathered in his right hand.
Aoi Rokusho was still disoriented from his previous attack. Laughing arrogantly, he lifted his head only to realize, startled, that Kakashi was preparing to use his signature ninjutsu—[Lightning Cutter].
Without hesitation, he charged forward, swinging the Thunder God Sword and preparing to launch another attack.
Suddenly, Kakashi shot forward with astonishing speed toward Aoi Rokusho, who instinctively swung his Thunder God Sword in response.
However, he underestimated the Sharingan's power. Kakashi had already anticipated his move and was fully prepared.
Aoi's strike was utterly ineffective—it didn't even graze Kakashi, who effortlessly dodged aside.
Kakashi's right hand pierced straight through Aoi Rokusho's chest. "[Lightning Cutter!]"
Aoi twisted his face in agony; the hand gripping the Thunder God Sword fell limply, and the sword slipped from his grasp, tracing an arc through the air before crashing down onto the sand faster than him.
The hilt sank deeply into the sand, the blade stained red with its owner's blood lying nearby.
The battle raged on around them when a slender hand reached out from the chaos and picked up the Thunder God Sword.
Tenten curiously examined the weapon and accidentally triggered it, causing yellow light to shimmer across the blade. Her eyes lit up instantly as she swung the formidable blade, blocking two Allied Shinobi Forces ninja attempting to ambush her with kunai.
That turned out to be their downfall. Lightning struck them immediately, and Tenten easily eliminated both.
"Whose sword is this?" She asked while heading toward the next battlefield. "Oh well, it's mine now anyway!"

Far behind the front lines at the Allied Forces' rear base, chaos erupted.
Initially, everyone thought capturing Sunagakure was inevitable. It was believed that once the village was destroyed and their defenses broken, these stubborn defenders would give up hope.
Yet, the Suna ninja not only remained highly motivated but became even more formidable in each battle.
Worse yet, the battlefield situation was increasingly turning against the Allied Forces.
From time to time, without warning, the earth would violently roll and swallow dozens of Allied ninja whole, so fast that there wasn't even time for rescue. This was the power of the Kage—a title held by none other than Gaara of the Desert.
In this vast desert, he reigned supreme without ever stepping foot on the battlefield himself.
"The medical tents are overflowing!"
"What? We brought so many tents! Are you saying we don't even have space left to place the injured?"
"A sandstorm destroyed most of the tents! Even the barracks were torn to shreds!"
Invading Sunagakure had been a logistical nightmare from the beginning.
The desert was endless, making supply transport an enormous challenge. Worse still, the very clothing and tents intended to shield against wind-blown sand were eventually shredded by sudden massive sandstorms.
Most ninja knew the desert's dangers in theory, but reality drove them home with brutal clarity.
Most ninja had never encountered such a brutal environment, and even those who had seen war had never fought under conditions like this. Battling in Sunagakure was nothing like fighting in any of the other Four Great Nations.
That was also why the Chunin Exams hosted in Sunagakure had never drawn much interest.
As the battle dragged on for hours, both sides took heavy losses. For Sunagakure, however, this was a matter of survival—they had no choice but to fight.
Even if the Allied Forces emerged victorious, they would be left crippled by their losses. How then could they face their next opponent—Konoha?
As time passed, this question began to haunt the Allied Forces.
The only ones whose resolve remained unshaken were the ninja of Amegakure. They firmly believed that under their "God's" guidance, victory would ultimately be theirs.
It was this belief that inspired dozens of villages to band together and defy the Five Great Ninja Villages.
A massive shadow passed over the Allied Forces, drawing all eyes skyward. The Amegakure ninja, however, fell to their knees in worship, whispering fervent prayers:
