"Hey, did you hear? Kuchiki Shiraha—the guy who just graduated from the Spiritual Arts Academy—challenged Captain Komamura the same day he joined the Seventh Division and actually won."

"No way. You mean that Shiraha's a captain now?"

"Yeah, he's officially Captain Shiraha of the Seventh Division."

"That's insane. Right out of school and already wearing a captain's haori?"

"They say he defeated Komamura-taichō after the man used Bankai... and without even using Shikai himself."

The news spread like wildfire across the Gotei 13, igniting disbelief, envy, and admiration in equal measure. Within hours, every division was abuzz with the same whisper: Shiraha, a fresh graduate with almost no field experience, had risen to captain level by defeating one of their own. If the order hadn't come directly from Head Captain Yamamoto himself, the tale would've been dismissed as delusion, but with Yamamoto's confirmation, denial became impossible. And so, the weight of Shiraha's impossible achievement settled over Seireitei like thunder rolling across a clear sky—undeniable and electrifying.

In the Spiritual Arts Academy, chaos wasn't far behind. Students gathered in tight clusters around corridors, walkways, and training grounds, voices layered in stunned disbelief and fervent awe.

"Kuchiki Shiraha, the prodigy who shattered every benchmark the Academy had, is now captain of the Seventh Division."

"Unreal. Graduated in one month, soloed a Menos Grande, and now he's defeated a Bankai-wielding captain... he's on a different level."

"It doesn't feel real. It's like we blinked and suddenly he's leading a squad."

To many, Shiraha was already a figure carved from legend. His ability to graduate in record time had left an impression, but the Menos Grande incident had vaulted him into whispered myth. Now, with his ascension confirmed, no one spoke with jealousy anymore—only with admiration, as if speaking of a distant star that had broken free of the sky.

"Rukia, Rukia! Did you hear?" Renji charged into the Academy courtyard, Kira Izuru and Hinamori Momo close behind, his eyes blazing with excitement. "Your brother Shiraha—he's the new captain of Squad Seven!"

"I just heard from the instructors..." Rukia said in a hushed voice, her eyes still wide, the disbelief on her face not yet fading. "It's... unbelievable."

"Captain Shiraha's amazing," Kira added with genuine reverence. "Once I graduate, I'm applying for Squad Seven. I want to serve under him."

"He's gotten so far ahead," Hinamori murmured, her tone edged with frustration. "And I still haven't even released my Zanpakutō... I'm nowhere near his level."

"Hinamori, you've already come a long way," Kira said gently, placing a hand on her shoulder. "You've been training harder than anyone. Even the instructors say you're right on the verge. Just keep pushing."

Since their return from the soul burial training mission, Hinamori had dedicated herself to relentless practice, sparing almost no time for rest. Her quiet goal had always been the same: to close the distance between her and Shiraha, even by one step.

"I want to see him again," Rukia said softly, eyes lifted to the clouds above.

"You will," Renji said with a confident grin. "We all will. Whether we land in Squad Thirteen or even get accepted into Squad Seven—it's not impossible. Not if we keep moving forward."

---

At the Seventh Division barracks, a different kind of storm was gathering. Behind the team building, Vice-Captain Iba Tetsuzaemon had assembled every squad member in the training courtyard. Inside, Shiraha stood alone in the captain's quarters, quietly donning the white haori bearing the kanji for "seven." As he fastened it across his shoulders, he glanced once at his reflection in the polished steel wall plate—not out of vanity, but to meet the eyes of the man he was becoming.

"I still can't believe it... Captain Shiraha took down Komamura-taichō, and he even used Bankai!"

"His strength is unreal... and he's a noble, right? From the Kuchiki clan?"

"No wonder. That explains his composure."

The murmurs rippled across the assembled Seventh Division members. The name Shiraha had spread rapidly, but this would be their first time seeing him in the flesh—this man who had defeated their leader in open combat.

When Shiraha finally stepped into the light of the courtyard, he was every inch the noble warrior his name promised. The haori fluttered lightly behind him, the star-shaped hairpins gleaming at his temples and collarbone. His expression was calm, measured, and purposeful.

"I am Kuchiki Shiraha," he said clearly, voice unwavering. "From this day forward, I will serve as the captain of the Seventh Division. I trust you will give me your strength, and I will offer mine in return."

"Captain Shiraha!" The voices rang out in perfect synchronicity as every member bowed deeply, led by Iba himself, their tones filled with newfound loyalty.

"Iba," Shiraha continued, his voice turning more formal, "with Komamura-taichō defeated, he shall assume the position of vice-captain should he choose to remain. You are hereby reassigned as third seat. All other seated officers will be shifted accordingly. Any complaints?"

"None at all, sir," Iba replied without hesitation. He spoke with both pride and humility. Having once served Komamura loyally, Iba knew better than anyone how much respect the man deserved. If he remained, the vice-captain's role was more than fitting. Shiraha had already discussed this change with him en route—there would be order, not chaos.

Shiraha's eyes narrowed as he scanned the courtyard with a flicker of spiritual sense. One signature was missing.

"Iba, where is the fourth seat?" he asked. "According to the roster, he's meant to be on patrol."

"That should be Ichikanbanjibō," Iba answered after a moment's pause. "He's technically fourth, though demoted to fifth under the new structure. He should be out on patrol right now."

Just then, the courtyard doors slammed open. A tall, lumbering Shinigami stumbled in, his shihakushō disheveled and his breath stinking of cheap sake. His face was broad, nose flat, eyes small and sleepy, with thick lips and drooping shoulders.

"Oi, Iba, come have a drink with me!" he slurred, completely unaware of the silent courtyard full of watching eyes.

The reaction was instant. Every officer present stiffened.

"Are you serious?" Iba barked, storming forward. "Ichikanbanjibō, you're supposed to be on patrol! And this is how you show up—in the middle of a formal assembly, drunk out of your mind?!"

Shiraha's gaze sharpened. "This is your idea of patrol?"

Even among the hardened veterans of the Gotei 13, there were lines no one crossed—and this man had crossed all of them in front of the new captain on his first day.

"Wake up!" Iba shouted, striking Ichikanbanjibō sharply across the face. The man reeled from the slap but remained unfazed, swaying on unsteady legs.

Shiraha turned his gaze slightly toward Iba. "Vice-Captain, under Seireitei regulations, what is the punishment for a seated officer who abandons patrol duty to drink?"

Iba's voice tightened. "Per Gotei 13 code, the offense warrants immediate dismissal. The officer is stripped of rank and expelled from the Seireitei."

Shiraha's tone was calm and absolute. "Then let justice be done. Ichikanbanjibō, fifth seat of the Seventh Division, is hereby removed from the Gotei 13. Your status as a Shinigami is revoked, effective immediately."

No one moved. No one objected.

In the quiet that followed, one truth became clear: this was no ordinary captain.

And Seireitei would never be the same.
