Chapter 22: BUTZ: Chapter 22
Not only that, but Tessai Tsukabishi's help would also be necessary for success. The former Head Kidō Officer's mastery of Kidō was undeniable.
Under Urahara Kisuke's guidance, Kyōraku Callum arrived at the hidden underground space beneath the Urahara Shop.
The vast area showcased various Kidō applications; considerable effort had clearly gone into its construction.
"Kyōraku-kun, I believe it's necessary for me to see the patient before proceeding," Urahara Kisuke said, his expression grave after several attempts at diagnosis.
He couldn't be certain of a successful treatment without examining Kuchiki Hisana.
Kyōraku Callum pondered for a moment before agreeing.
"No problem. We'll use the Kuchiki family's Senkaimon to arrive near the shop.
But I also need another favor from you, Mr. Urahara."
Urahara Kisuke tapped his cane, smiling. "Please, Kyōraku-kun."
Leaping down from a massive boulder, Kyōraku Callum calmly stated, "I recently mastered my Zanpakutō's Shikai (initial release), but I'm unsure of my current strength.
I hope Mr. Urahara will spar with me to gauge my abilities."
Urahara Kisuke frowned slightly before relaxing.
"Ha ha, of course. A simple matter."
The two faced each other, the atmosphere thickening. Kyōraku Callum slowly drew his Zanpakutō, the tip pointing downwards, his gaze fixed on Urahara Kisuke.
"Before the Shikai, a warm-up, shall we?"
Urahara Kisuke maintained his smile. "Excellent. Let me witness the capabilities of Shinigami Academy's prodigy."
"Awaken, Benihime!"
Urahara Kisuke gripped his cane, releasing spiritual pressure.
The cane glowed with a brilliant white light, shedding its disguise.
Benihime, his Zanpakutō, reappeared before Kyōraku Callum.
Like its wielder, Benihime concealed its power beneath an unassuming exterior—a seemingly ordinary double-edged cane, with red cords replacing the handguard and a slightly curved hilt.
Kyōraku Callum, his expression serious, murmured, "Since Mr. Urahara is ready, I won't hold back!"
The moment he finished speaking, he vanished with Shunpo, leaving no disturbance in the air.
Urahara Kisuke's expression sharpened; he dismissed his initial underestimation.
The speed of that Shunpo alone rivaled most Captains.
Only Yoruichi Shihōin could likely surpass it.
Urahara Kisuke swiftly moved his wrist, raising his arm to meet the attack.
The clash of steel echoed through the underground space.
"Secret Sword: Thin Snow!"
Their Zanpakutō clashed. Kyōraku Callum lunged forward; his Zanjutsu was like a delicate snowfall, descending from the heavens.
Layers of sword light transformed into a blizzard, each beautiful snowflake concealing deadly intent.
"God's Dream One-Sword Style!"
In a short time, Kyōraku Callum showcased the peak of his swordsmanship talent, seamlessly blending his two sword styles and incorporating his own improvements.
Urahara Kisuke, his expression serious, met the onslaught with focused intensity. Sword light filled the underground space.
Realizing Urahara Kisuke's skill, Kyōraku Callum stopped holding back.
Before his Shikai, injuring Urahara Kisuke wouldn't be easy.
After all, Urahara Kisuke was a former Captain, capable of subduing the entire Menos Grande nest with Hakuda alone.
Their Zanpakutō clashed repeatedly in a seemingly calm yet perilous exchange.
Even stray sparks left deep gouges in the sturdy ground. The scene was a mess.
"It seems this won't force your Shikai," Urahara Kisuke said, appearing beside Kyōraku Callum with Shunpo, his Benihime held firmly. "I'll have to get serious."
"Sing, Benihime!"
A crimson light flowed along the slender blade.
"Nake, Benihime (Sing, Crimson Princess)!!"
Urahara Kisuke swung Benihime in an upward arc. Spiritual pressure formed a crescent-shaped crimson blade, hurtling towards Kyōraku Callum.
Kyōraku Callum nodded, a slight smile on his lips.
"Now that's more like it!"
"Secret Sword: Swallow Return!"
The pressure from his Zanpakutō transformed into a fleeting swallow, emitting a fierce cry as it collided with the crimson blade.
BOOM!
A terrifying collision of spiritual pressure erupted in the air, creating a violent shockwave that swept through the underground space.
"Ara ara, what a formidable opponent!" Urahara Kisuke countered, using the hilt of Benihime to brace himself, releasing spiritual pressure to form a blood-red shield against the shockwave.
"Chikasumi no Tate (Blood Mist Shield)!"
Instead of dissipating the shield, he immediately launched a third release. Countless light arrows erupted from the crimson shield, aiming for Kyōraku Callum.
Facing this overwhelming attack, Kyōraku Callum remained calm.
"Finally, time to try my Shikai," he murmured. "Time stop, Akatsuki!"
The moment he spoke, a terrifying spiritual pressure swept through the underground space. From Kyōraku Callum as the epicenter, a strange, almost void-like power instantly radiated outwards!
The crimson light arrows from the blood-red shield were mere inches from Kyōraku Callum! Yet, they hung suspended in mid-air, as if time itself had been frozen.
The instant Urahara Kisuke sensed this power, his usually calm face contorted in shock.
"How…" he began, but his words were cut short as time within the entire underground space was halted.
Kyōraku Callum's Zanpakutō had transformed.
A void-like, distorting power swirled around the almost transparent blade, which had become extremely long, somewhat resembling a seven-branched sword, radiating a blood-red glow. The hilt was inky black, emitting an unknown energy.
The metallic blade had transformed into a distorted clock, its second hand still ticking.
Kyōraku Callum, having successfully achieved Shikai, was satisfied with his Zanpakutō.
While not a complete Shikai, it was a significant achievement.
The Zanpakutō's true name was Akatsuki. Akatsuki means both dawn and dusk, representing the concept of time, perfectly matching its ability.
With Shikai, Kyōraku Callum could pause time within a three-meter radius for three seconds, depending on his spiritual pressure.
