Chapter 363: Avatar Creation
'The techniques and skills have been elevated? Did my casual action cause such a change? I remember the Grand Librarian stating that it could help me elevate one of my skills when they grandly gave me the Wisdom Scroll. However, by the artifact ego's words, all the skills within the ancient tome seemed to have been elevated.' Randy could hardly believe that simply turning the ancient black tome into an artifact would bring many surprising changes and fruitful rewards.
Without hesitation, Randy inquired: "What are the changes to the Incarnation technique?"
The artifact ego readily replied: "The Incarnation Technique no longer went by that name. It seemed to have been renamed as [Avatar Creation] Skill."
"Avatar Creation Skill? What is the difference between this and the incarnation technique?"
"The incarnation technique could only create advanced clones that possess the strength of the creator. However, the incarnation technique has a drawback. The created incarnations seemed to possess varied personalities. As detailed in my vessel, the personalities could be from different aspects of the creator's life. For example, when they were a child, possessing innocent and naive personalities or teenagers with rebellious personalities. From my vessel, it stated that living beings, or in master's case, humans have different stages of life and during each stage, their personalities undergo various changes due to familial, environmental, and societal influences. Because of this, some incarnations may possess childish personalities and do not listen to anything their main body instructs, making it hard to collaborate." The artifact ego explained.
Hearing this explanation, Randy immediately thought of the carefree Brawler Randy who reminded him of his childhood, before the shift in his livelihood.
Refocusing on the present, he asked: "So I'm assuming that the Avatar Creation Skill doesn't have that drawback?"
"Indeed, master. The [Avatar Creation] Skill doesn't possess such an uncontrolled aspect. Unlike the Incarnation Technique, the Avatar Creation Skill could create a genuine incarnation and not an advanced clone that resembled an incarnation. Additionally, the genuine incarnation becomes the avatar of the creator, meaning they would possess a copy of the dominant personality of the creator every time they are created." Randy was pleasantly surprised by the artifact ego's explanation. Such a change meant he wouldn't have to worry about his incarnations going rogue in the future. This was one of the concerns he had when conjuring his incarnations.
The first incarnation, Brawler Randy, was not only a failure in that he didn't possess the necessary constitution for the development of an energy vessel, but he also seemed to possess a persona quite similar to his childhood years, which made him feel quite awkward observing him and his antics after he set him free. On the other hand, even though his second incarnation, Holy Knight Randy, possessed a better personality compared to Brawler Randy, their cautious and distrustful nature was too excessive that even Randy found it unsettling.
Although Holy Knight Randy appeared calm in demeanor, his actions revealed a meticulous individual who deemed himself superior to others. He belittled his fellow incarnation by secretly accessing their memories without their permission. His reason was to keep everything under his control, as he hated variables ruining his plans.
As his incarnations, Randy could access their behavior and observe their choices through accessing their experiences and memories. The recent reunion of consciousness due to the divine resonance allowed Randy to sense the fundamental differences between his incarnations and he found it quite unnerving that they were different from the current him and instead seemed like ghosts of his past.
The third incarnation was somewhat an exception as Randy found out that they seemed to lack a definite persona, or rather the persona they exhibited was too robotic and apathetic. Randy couldn't help but wonder if it was the persona born from his past trauma, or if it was merely a defect like Brawler Randy.
Regardless, his present incarnations were more potential liabilities than trustworthy comrades. He didn't know when they might develop their own interest and find a way to break free from him completely. From the memories observed in Brawler Randy's consciousness, he seemed to have requested the system proxy to break his divine point pool connection with him. Now, he possessed his own divine points pool, unlike the other incarnations whose divine points accumulations were still linked to him.
Pondering about this matter, he seemed to have thought of something and decided to inquire.
"Is it possible to convert my current incarnations into avatars?" He asked because, he wondered if by converting them to avatars, their personalities would be overwritten and would develop new personas, bearing the same consciousness as him but separate bodies.
"To answer the master's question, it is indeed possible to convert the incarnations into avatars. However, converting them into avatars wouldn't overwrite their personalities. If you forcefully change their personalities in their current state, the process would reconfigure their mental composition, leading to chaos in the host of the consciousness, the brain, killing them." The artifact ego responded as if it had read Randy's mind.
Randy's expectations deflated when he realized that his thinking was shallow. Indeed, changing the personalities of the body would also mean changing the brain of the body. Unless he had a means to swap the brains of the incarnations, this would be nearly impossible. He proceeded to ask a few questions about the benefits of having his incarnations converted into avatars. He received positive, favorable answers that pleased him.
According to the artifact ego, even if he succeeded somehow in changing the persona of the incarnation, the personalities wouldn't be similar to his own nor would it be similar to the incarnation's after the conversion. However, the benefit of converting already existing incarnations into avatars was that he could actively sense any changes occurring on the incarnations' end that demanded his attention without needing to randomly connect to their minds to ascertain their movements.
Essentially, he would gain multiple consciousnesses with one becoming a main consciousness or main hub with other subsidiary consciousnesses tethered to him like strings. As avatars, they represent his will. In the future, when they find themselves in danger, he could sense it through feedback and determine whether to intervene at any given time.
That would ensure the safety of his avatars overall. With the addition of the sentient tome and its support function, he could effectively aid them without showing his face unless absolutely necessary.
"Since that's the case, then turn all my incarnations into avatars right now. You can do that, right?
Without hesitation, Randy decided to turn his incarnations into avatars, this changes would allow his incarnations to undergo a transformation as they would possess the same energy level or mana points as the current him. The only person Randy surmised wouldn't benefit from these transformative changes would be Brawler Randy who lacked an energy vessel.
"Of course, I only need to borrow a bit of master's divine points to conduct the conversion."
"Go ahead." Randy gave the authorization without hesitation as he couldn't wait to observe the changes himself. Although he only has a few divine points left initially, with the effort of the new incarnation, he managed to amass a few thousand points. The fact that the sentient tome didn't suggest anything meant he had enough to conduct the conversion.
Without any preamble, the ancient black tome, commanded by the artifact ego, hovered as it emitted an ethereal glow, seemingly connecting to Randy's incarnations to perform the conversion.
