Chapter 1585: Cooking A Dreamy Buffet
-----
After an interesting talk about the structure of the world and its many mysteries, Elayne, Mark, and Gabriel joined up with everyone else, deciding to make a nice barbeque for dinner. They had eaten lunch earlier, yes, but it has been like almost four hours since then, so it was totally justified to eat something as "dinner" as Elayne wanted to justify it.
In truth, their bodies had grown very powerful and also required an equally large quantity of nutrients and calories, eating the same way humans did wasn't as sustainable anymore, as they would usually feel hungry pretty quickly.
In reality, they had to eat at least three to four times the original quantity of food they ate before to keep their strong bodies with great health. And that's considering the food had to be specially infused with magical properties!
That was, naturally, not something everyone wanted to get used to, the women in specific, always worried about their figure, would still reject that and try to eat normally… but it wouldn't really work to their favor, and Elayne started to realize she had to eat like a piggy from now on, both in BNLO and in reality.
"Alright so, let's make a barbeque!"
Elayne glanced at the carcasses of the many Dream Spirit Beasts they had hunted along the way, specifically the giant lion-shaped ones, and she decided to rapidly butcher it.
She didn't want to cover herself with its blood, so she used the inventory ability to butcher and dismantle monster bodies, which was the very same Players had in BNLO.
Like that, after a few clicks, she was able to bring out large amounts of the monsters' meat, which was of a bright pink color, with purple dots here and there.
Their bones were pure white, and their cartilages purple colored… The meat also had a weird, funny smell, like a combination of something sweet and slightly citric, like fruits.
"Wow, the meat smells really interesting…" Mark said. "Can we really cook and eat this?"
"I think so? It shouldn't really do anything bad to us," Elayne nodded. "Right Morpheus?"
"Yes, if its cooked using Cooking Magic or your Gourmet Spirits, there shouldn't be any issue with anybody here," Morpheus said. "After all, you're all very strong already, anything that might be toxic for normal humans is mostly because they have not adapted to Mana and absorbed it into their bodies. Your Magic Circles and Physiques now can help you adapt to any energy just fine."
"Well, that's a relief then," Elayne sighed. "Alright, I guess we can go for something simpler. Using Fire Spirit and maybe your Phoenix Flames to roast this meat, normal fire… I don't think we can even bring that in this Realm."
"Actually, I would recommend cooking this meat using Nightmare or Dream Flames, or perhaps a great balance between the two could bring out all the flavors and nutritious energies," Morpheus said. "I could help by conjuring them, master."
"Ah, but Phoenix Flames are really good too…" Mark muttered. "Are they really not needed?"
"Hmm, you could probably help by adding your own wood to burn these flames," Morpheus said. "But no, they're not necessary."
"A-Ah, okay then… I don't know why it feels like I was looked down on," Mark sighed.
"Morpheus don't be disrespectful…" Elayne said.
"M-My apologies, I was simply answering his question…" Morpheus muttered.
"Hm, alright then, let's start," Elayne nodded.
Like that, with Lily's help, they were able to build a large area surrounded by rocks where the Nightmare and Dream Flames were conjured, burning the Phoenix Wood Mark created.
The result created a blazing inferno of purple, pink, and black fire that constantly spiraled around the designated area.
Mark's wood burned nicely, creating a smoky smell, the dream and nightmare flames were also aromatic, having a smell similar to aromatic flowers or herbs, strangely enough.
"Alright…"
Elayne placed the large chunks of meat on top of the large grill she created using her metallic scales and Mark's wood metal, strong enough to resist this fire easily.
She didn't just add the meat, but the large legs were also placed over the grill, while her Gourmet Spirits, especially her three-headed Gourmet Dragon Spirit, Gordon, helped out the most with his expert techniques and magical abilities.
He also seasoned the meat using both magic and normal seasonings, alongside spirit fruit extracts, spirit herbs, and more, creating a unique aroma as the food was being cooked.
These giant lions were massive, a single one had hundreds of kilograms worth of meat, more than enough to feed everyone without problems.
Elayne also took around a third of the meat and began mincing it into fine, soft minced meat, which she turned into burgers, adding some other ingredients into it, such as some veggies and more seasoning, and then grilling them with a cheese slice on top of them.
The smell of this peculiar meat was very enticing, bringing everyone around the barbeque while they prepared the table.
"Hmm, smells so good! Ah, Gordon, how are the side dishes going?" Elayne wondered. "Is everything going alright?"
"Yes, master, you don't have to worry."
"We're making the white rice you requested, and we've also added various spirit seeds which have boiled nicely, giving it an unique, colorful appearance."
"We also discovered a large amount of tubers unique to this area, and after checking them with Morpheus, we've cut them down and begun to fry them, we believe they might taste like sweet potatoes."
"Oooh… Nice!"
Elayne nodded, smelling the "Dream French Fries" being nicely cooked, they were also making a sweet, sour, and spicy sauce using the juice of fruits found here, and of slightly hot red colored herbs found here, which had a spicy flavor, usually so herbivores don't eat them.
"Everything is going nicely, I can't wait… I'm starving."
As Elayne patted her belly, waiting for the food to get ready, she noticed something, a small rumbling sound that continued becoming louder.
RUMBLE!
"W-What is that?!"
