Breaking Free, Loving Again -The Flash Marriage with Mr. CEO

Chapter 569: Destined.

Meanwhile —

It was late, and Aiden still hadn't left the office. He was sitting inside his office, working.

Jason had left quite a long time ago. But Emyr was still there.

He has gone to check the schedule for the ninth time, but up until now, he couldn't tell what had kept his boss so engrossed at work today.

The work should have ended by now.

He was re-checking the schedule on the tablet when, in the silent air of the empty office, he heard the elevator dinging again.

When he raised his gaze, he saw Arwen walking out. "Madam," he stood up to greet, and Arwen gave him a soft smile.

"Mr. Ethan," she reciprocated. Her gaze darted to look behind him in the direction of Aiden's office. "I got to know that Aiden hasn't yet returned home, so I expected him to still be here, working."

Emyr nodded. "Yes, sir is still in the office."

Arwen paused for a moment before she asked, "Has work been hectic for him recently? He seemed to be caught up here for longer these days."

Emyr, for a moment, wanted to shake his head. After all, his boss had always been a workaholic since always. Staying late at the office was his schedule. But given how that schedule has changed recently, he could only speak from the current perspective.

"Nothing major, Madam. Most of the crucial things had been settled already. All the major preparations to transfer the company's headquarters here has been completed. It's just a few things that sometimes keep Sir caught up longer at times."

Arwen nodded in understanding. "You all have worked hard. It's good that it's finally settled."

"Thank you, Madam." He then took a step aside to make way for Arwen. "I will escort you to Sir's office."

She smiled and they walked their way down to Aiden's office.

"You can return to your desk, Mr. Ethan," she said, a step before the door.

Emyr looked at her before giving a polite nod. Then, taking a step back, he returned to his desk.

Arwen stared at the door for a moment before giving a soft knock on it. She didn't wait to hear his permission to enter. Instead, she pushed the door open and stepped inside with all the authority she knew she held at the place.

"Am I disturbing you?" she said the moment her gaze met Aiden's. He had been sitting at his desk, but he didn't seem like he was working.

Aiden blinked. "You are here?"

Arwen hummed, walking in close to his desk and then to his chair. "Yes, I dropped by to pick you up. After all, I can't let you miss the dinner again." Her gaze shifted to look at his desk.

His system seemed to have already shut down, and the files around were neatly kept aside. Everything only made it look like he had long completed his work here. Then why was he still sitting there?

"Were you working?" she asked, gazing back at him.

Aiden looked at his desk and then shook his head, giving a gentle smile. "I was done. I would have left if you hadn't appeared now."

"Really?" she asked, doubting a little. He seemed to be sitting here for a while, lost in thought.

And given how serious he looked when she saw him, she wanted to know what was bothering him.

But she didn't want to press him either.

Aiden stared at her for a moment before nodding. "Really."

"Good, then. I can at the right time." She said, pulling to check her watch. "If any later, it might be a waste driving all the way here."

"You drove yourself," he frowned a little. "Where was Alfred?"

"Relax," she said, pursing her lips. "I asked him to let me drive today. It's been a while since I drove. I wanted to."

Since the accident, she hadn't driven the car again. She didn't know why, but she wanted to drive here.

"Don't frown like that," she insisted, "I am not a bad driver. I know how to drive. It's just that that night I was destined to meet with an accident."

"Destined!" he echoed, arching his brows at her choice of words.

Arwen thought for a moment before nodding with a hum. She shifted a little on her feet and then leaned on his desk so that she could face him right face on. "Mhm-hn~ Destined to get into that accident and meet you. If not, probably we wouldn't have met." She then added more confidently. "

She might not remember him from that night. But they met there for the first time. And that was the one right thing that happened that night.

Him.

Aiden watched him and reached to hold her hand, brushing her fingers gently. "We would have met anyway," he said, and Arwen felt there was something in the way he said it, as if he was very sure about it.

"How?" she asked, not knowing what she wanted to know. "It was a chance encounter. Maybe if you hadn't saved me that night, we wouldn't have met again."

That night marked an important change. One that prompted her to break the rules and decide her life on her own. So, if not for that night, they probably wouldn't have met.

However, Aiden shook his head.

"Why are you so sure?"

"Because destiny never just has one way," he said, bringing her hand to his lips to peck it gently. "If not through that night, he would have found another way to make us meet."

She heard him and couldn't look away. Not just because his words charmed her and made her heart skip, but it reminded her of someone —someone she only remembered from her dreams.

She didn't know why he resembled him so much. But he did.

The silence stretched for a while until Aiden spoke again. "It's getting late. We should head back home."

Arwen didn't mention her thoughts to him. She just kept it to herself and nodded to him. "Yes, let's go."

He then stood, ready to lead her out, but Arwen's gaze caught something on his desk, and she didn't move.

"What is that?" she asked, pulling her hands off his gently. "A medical report?" She wouldn't have noticed it if she hadn't read Cralens First Hospital written over it.
