Breaking Free, Loving Again -The Flash Marriage with Mr. CEO

Chapter 641: Not worth your presence.

Arwen watched him closely, noting everything that his expression was trying to express and everything that it was struggling to hide.

She didn't rush him; rather, she let him have his time.

But even after a good time, his struggle remained. Arwen thought to give him an easy way.

"Mr. Jones, an early celebration brings death," she said, adding, "and too much stress makes you age. So, don't stress out too early. Your silver hair might look good, but if the wrinkles increase on your face, it might scare the kids around."

Mr. Jones didn't understand. But something about Arwen eased him. "Madam, I —"

"I was about to call you, but fortunately you appeared right in time," Arwen spoke again, already turning to look back at the desk and several other files that were kept there. "The study is Aiden's private place. I know when the maids come to clean it up, you are careful. But apart from the maids, even other people at the house aren't allowed here. So, note that from the next time, no one enters here."

Mr. Jones furrowed his brows and nodded. "I will be more careful, Madam."

Arwen glanced back at him and smiled. "Then that's all," she said, taking her diary back in her hand. "I will return to my room and get freshened up."

And with that, she turned to walk out of the room. Mr. Jones stepped a step aside to give her the way. But just as she reached the door, she paused and turned to look back over her shoulder.

"Mr. Jones, remember what I told you. Don't let this slip to Aiden."

And with that reminder, she didn't stay and left.

Mr. Jones watched her. After knowing what Ms. Martin was trying to do, he should be concerned. But for some reason, the ease in the lady's attitude earlier calmed him. Like she was assuring him that there was nothing to worry about.

But how could he not worry when he could clearly sense what the young lady Martin was up to?

Meanwhile, after leaving the study, Arwen returned to her room. Her demeanour relaxed. She looked at the diary she had in her hand and then walked to the closet.

Keeping it in her wardrobe, she stepped back only to get caught by her own reflection in the mirror on the side.

She turned and walked closer to look.

This wasn't her first time looking at herself in the mirror. But today, her gaze was noting the detail she never cared to notice before. Her eyes trailed to look at her hair before noting the colour of her eyes.

Her eyes looked black, but on a closer look, one could see the hue of deep grey in them.

She remembered her eyes had changed its shade as she had grown an adult.

"Similar?" she muttered under her breath, but then a slow smirk lifted her lips up. "Maybe. But I am intrigued to see how you prove it."

She let her eyes linger on her reflection for a long moment before she heard the door of the room opening.

Knowing who it could be, she turned around and walked out of the closet. And right as she expected, Aiden stepped inside the room with his suit jacket draped on his arm.

"You are back?" she greeted with a smile before walking towards him to take his jacket from him. Keeping it on the couch nearby, she wrapped her arms around his neck, before tipping up on her toes and pressing her lips against his in a quick kiss.

His hands also went to wrap around her waist, securing her close.

"How was your day?" Arwen asked, straining her head slightly upwards to look at him. "Did you complete your meal properly?"

Aiden hummed before his gaze darted to look at the box that was kept on the bed.

"The dress got delivered?" he asked, and she turned to follow his gaze before stepping a step back to nod.

"Hn-hn~" she hummed, adding, "I went for the trial, but the fitting was all perfect. And since no alterations were needed, they delivered it." She then held his hand and tugged him to follow her. "Come, I will show you."

This was something simple, and Aiden hadn't had to check since he wouldn't be accompanying her to the event. But because she was excited to show it to him, he simply followed her.

Arwen opened the box and then pulled out the dress before pressing it against her figure. "See, how does it look?"

Aiden gave her a long look, letting his gaze trace her from head to toe. His lips lifted in admiration, and his gaze didn't leave her. If admiration had a face, his would have matched it perfectly.

"Beautiful!"

She smiled and then kept the dress back in the box. "Thank you for your warm appreciation. This is designed for my brand. It has to be beautiful."

Aiden stared at her as she folded the dress. "Are you sure about it?" he asked, and under that question, Arwen paused momentarily, but soon recovering, she nodded.

"I am sure. There is no need to hide away from reality." She then turned and looked at him, noticing the concern he held in his gaze for her. Smiling, she said, "I am going to attend the event as the President of Davies Internationals. There is nothing to be concerned about. And I won't be alone. My secretary would be accompanying me."

But even after she said that, the expression on Aiden's face didn't ease. Reaching out, he brushed away a stray strand of hair off her face. "I can accompany you too. I don't mind entering an event with an invitation. As long as I want it, people won't be able to throw me out."

Of course. Arwen knew this.

But she would allow it. He was her husband, and she would allow anyone to disrespect him —even the slightest.

Cupping his cheek gently, she smiled. "I know. But that won't be required. Such small events are not worth your presence. Emily Brown, 'soon-to-be Quinn', is not worth it. So, don't."

"She isn't, but you are," Aiden replied. He was going there for her. And apart from her, no one else matters.

"I am worth a lot," Arwen nodded, accepting it. "But did you forget something, husband? I don't like sharing. Especially you. I can't share you with anyone."

He was about to open his mouth again. But she pressed a finger against his lips, shushing him.

"Now," she said, her tone slightly stern, "be good. I said I will be fine. If you are so worried, you can come to pick me up later in the evening, but you can't come to the event."

Aiden stared at her for a long moment before finally nodding.

"Good!" she appreciated before leaning in to peck his cheek. "That's more like a good husband. Now, come on. We need to get freshen up first. The dinner will be ready soon."

And with that she turned to lead him to the bathroom. She was about to push him in, and then turn back, when his hand held her and pulled her along.

"Ah—" she gasped but regardless, the door was shut behind her. "You —What are you up to now?"
