Chapter 667: I will see through your plans.
Arwen looked up at his face and suddenly, realization dawned upon her.
Aiden's mother was sick, and it was for her treatment that he had decided to return to the Winslow family.
Could something have happened to her that day as well that he had to rush to her side?
"You still don't believe me?" Aiden's voice suddenly snapped her back.
Blinking, she shook her head. "No, I do believe you," she said, "I never distrusted your words. I was just thinking about something else."
"Really?"
She smiled and reached out to frame his face with one hand. Then tipping up on her toes, she leaned in to press a small kiss over his lips. "Really. Do you believe it now?"
He stared at her and nodded.
"Good that you do. Otherwise, I don't have any other way to make you believe me. After all, I am not a smooth talker like you."
"You don't have to because no matter what you say, I would believe it."
"Really? Even the lies?" she asked, arching her brows in faint curiosity.
However, he nodded very seriously. "Even the lies."
"That would be scary then," she said, frowning a little. "What if someday I don't want you to believe me? What if I lied deliberately to put on a pretense in front of everyone? If you believe it as well, won't my plan turn into a failure?"
When she said that, she looked adorably serious. Aiden couldn't help but smile. He glided the back of his finger along the line of her nose before tapping the tip.
She scrunched her nose and was about to speak when she heard him say.
"You won't fail," he said, and she blinked.
"How so? If you believe even in my lies, I am doomed to fail. Am I not?"
He shook his head. "With me on your side, you will never fail."
"But you said you would believe even in my lies. If you do that, wouldn't it only make you misunderstand me?"
"It wouldn't," he said, pitching her cheek. "All you have to do is speak it all while looking into my eyes."
"In your eyes?" she repeated, intrigued. "What will change with that?"
"I will see through your plans. And once I do, there will be no misunderstanding."
"Really? Will it be that simple?" She asked, her eyes slightly narrowing.
However, he seemed quite confident. "It's always been that simple between you and me."
"Fine, we will see when that happens." She said, crossing her arms, and he just shrugged.
Just then, a knock at the door interrupted. When they turned to look, it was Emyr there.
"Sir, Mr. Thompson has left. Do I ask Neil to bring the car to the entrance?"
Aiden turned to glance back at the table once before turning to Arwen to ask, "Are you full, or do you want to eat anything else?"
She didn't respond immediately. Considering a little, she shook her head and said, "Nope, I am full. We can leave first."
He nodded to her, and they turned to leave.
As they stepped out of the private room, Emyr sent a quick text to Neil to bring the car to the front as he followed closely behind.

Meanwhile, Ryan returned to his apartment. Loosening the knot of his tie, he wanted to sit on the sofa.
Even though he hadn't done much throughout the day, he felt a little exhausted. Resting his head at the back of the sofa, he closed his eyes just to calm himself down. But instead, he dozed away.
He only woke up when he heard the doorbell ringing persistently.
His brows furrowed as irritation etched across his face. But opening his eyes, he still stood up and walked to open the door.
"Ryan!"
Daniel's voice woke him up, and he groggily asked, "Daniel, you are here."
"Of course, I am. But what were you up to?" Daniel sized up top to toe. "And why the hell are you looking like this at this hour?"
Ryan didn't understand. He simply said, "I just woke up. Come inside, and we will talk." With that, he didn't wait. Leaving the door open, he turned and returned inside, giving Daniel no other option but to follow him in.
Daniel closed the door after stepping inside. "Ryan, you slept like this? I mean, have you even looked at yourself? You look exhausted and dishevelled. What exactly is going on in the company that made you look like this?"
Ryan shook his head. He didn't go to the living room; instead, he walked to the bar. "Nothing is going on in the company. Everything is fine."
"Then, why the hell are you like this?" Daniel has known Ryan very well. If anything, Ryan doesn't like looking dishevelled, not even in his sleep. He loved dressing up and always looking like he had stepped out of a fashion or business magazine.
Ryan paused and slowly turned to look over his shoulder. Just when Daniel thought he would answer him, he asked, "Scotch or whisky?"
"Are we drinking?" Daniel asked with a frown. But then said, "Anything is fine with me."
Ryan nodded and then pulled out a bottle of expensive scotch before walking back to the living room.
Sitting on one sofa, he poured them a drink and then pushed one glass towards him.
Daniel watched and studied him a little before asking, "You haven't called me here just to drink, have you?" he asked, meeting his eyes seriously. "So, tell me what it's about? What was it that you wanted to discuss?"
Ryan lifted his glass and took a slow sip of his drink. Then, looking at his friend, he asked, "Do you remember the day at the hospital, we first saw Arwen?"
Daniel paused a little. His brows knitted as he asked, "The first time?"
Ryan nodded.
"That was almost a decade back. My grandfather was admitted to the hospital, and you stayed back to look after her while she was alone there."
Yes, he stayed there … for her. But then, he ruined it all by pretending to be someone he wasn't.
Self-disdain flashed in his gaze, and he nodded. "Yes, it was that time. But do you remember the guy who brought her there that day? The one we bumped into?"
Daniel tried to think back. The memory was there, but it was not very vivid. "Why are you mentioning that now? What about him?"
"He was no other but Aiden Winslow," Ryan said, and that only surprised Daniel.
"Him?"
