"Oh… Retrieve that soul body?"

Hearing Mo Yu's words, the silver-armored man named Mang Ting furrowed his brows slightly. While he had no idea who the "She Lao" Mo Yu mentioned was, it was clear that this soul body was likely the one imprisoned by the expert from the Hall of Souls.

At this moment, Mo Yu looked at the silver-armored man with a hopeful gaze. From the other party's demeanor, he vaguely sensed that the Black Demon Army of the Lei Clan bore him no ill will. On the contrary, they seemed to regard him with a certain degree of respect.

Though puzzled by this, and uncertain whether there were hidden motives at play, Mo Yu could only take his chances. If She Lao were truly taken by the Hall of Souls, it would mean an eternal doom for him.

Under Mo Yu's watchful gaze, Mang Ting turned his attention to the Elder Mu Gu. His sharp eyes flickered slightly as they landed on the imprisoned soul body.

"The Medusa with the Seven-Winged Purple-Gold Serpent bloodline?" Mang Ting muttered internally, astonished by the bloodline he sensed within She Lao.

However, his surprise quickly faded. While the Seven-Winged Purple-Gold Serpent bloodline was powerful, even with its potential for sainthood, it still paled compared to the Di Bloodline of the Lei Clan. Unless it evolved into the even more fearsome Nine-Winged Purple-Gold Serpent, its peak might only reach the realm of half-saints.

"Since Young Master Mo Yu has made this request, Mang Ting will naturally oblige," he said casually, as if reclaiming She Lao from Elder Mu Gu was a trivial matter.

Hearing this, Elder Mu Gu's face stiffened. The disdain from the other party made his expression increasingly unsightly. Yet, mindful of the Black Demon Army's might, he suppressed his anger and forced a smile.

"Hehe, esteemed Lei Clan expert, I am a member of the Hall of Souls in Central Plains. This operation was personally sanctioned by my hall master, who highly values it. Surely, you are aware that the forces behind our Hall of Souls rival your noble clan in strength.

If you would be so kind as to grant the Hall of Souls some face, I will ensure that my hall master pays a personal visit to your Lei Clan to express his gratitude," Elder Mu Gu said, his dark purple eyes flickering as he cupped his hands respectfully toward Mang Ting.

"Oh? The Hall of Souls?" Mang Ting's lips curled into a faint smile. Just as Elder Mu Gu began to sense a glimmer of hope, the silver-armored man's voice turned icy.

"The Hall of Souls? What nonsense. And what if I refuse to grant you this face?"

Mang Ting's words were like a thunderclap that reverberated through the skies, causing Elder Mu Gu's face to darken. Were this anywhere else, he would have long since flayed and dismembered anyone who dared to speak ill of the Hall of Souls.

Yet, facing the Lei Clan's Black Demon Army, Elder Mu Gu could only swallow his humiliation, suppressing his rage with great effort.

"Mang Ting Captain, this matter is significant and concerns not only the Hall of Souls but also the forces behind us. I urge you to consider the larger picture and avoid sparking a conflict between our two clans," Elder Mu Gu warned in a low tone, clutching the soul body of She Lao tightly in his grasp.

"Hmph. The forces behind the Hall of Souls? You must mean the Hun Clan," Mang Ting sneered, narrowing his eyes. "The Hun Clan is indeed powerful, but it has yet to surpass the Gu Clan. When it becomes the foremost of the Eight Ancient Clans, then you may strut about arrogantly!"

With a cold laugh, Mang Ting issued a crisp order to the Black Demon Army behind him. "Take action! Retrieve the soul body!"

As soon as his voice fell, ten figures clad in dark armor, standing like statues atop the ominous black clouds, suddenly moved. In an instant, they surrounded Elder Mu Gu with expressions as cold as ice.

Seeing the sudden escalation, Han Feng, who had been standing beside Elder Mu Gu, flinched. His eyes darted about before he quietly distanced himself. He had no intention of being accidentally killed in the ensuing chaos.

The surrounding forces of the Black Alliance and the Yuan Manor were equally stunned by the abrupt outbreak of conflict. They quickly cleared the area to avoid getting caught in the crossfire.

The mention of the Lei Clan and the Hun Clan struck fear and awe among them. These were clearly top-tier forces in the Central Plains, far beyond their comprehension.

Meanwhile, members of the Yuan Manor grew elated at the sight of Mo Yu enlisting the help of such powerful allies, while those of the Black Alliance appeared despondent. What they had assumed to be a sure victory had been turned on its head with the intervention of these mysterious experts.

The three major faction leaders now deeply regretted their earlier betrayal of Mo Yu, praying silently that he hadn't noticed.

Back in the battlefield, the ten Black Demon Army members moved like lightning, encircling Elder Mu Gu completely. Seeing this, Elder Mu Gu's face turned grim. Although he had been trying to avoid a fight, it was clear that the Lei Clan intended to reclaim She Lao at all costs.

Resigned to his fate, Elder Mu Gu abandoned all thoughts of peaceful negotiation. His withered hand waved, and a dense black fog erupted from his body, enveloping him and forcing the ten opponents to back off slightly.

The Black Demon Army smirked disdainfully. Their expressions turned icy as they quickly formed seals with their hands. Ten massive pillars of lightning surged forth, coalescing in mid-air into ten roaring Thunder Jiaos.

"Thunder Jiao Assault!"

With synchronized precision, the ten Thunder Jiaos descended amidst deafening roars. Though these ten warriors were merely at the level of five- or six-star Dou Zongs, their combined attack overwhelmed even Elder Mu Gu.

"Not good!"

Elder Mu Gu's face changed drastically. Though he had already been wary of the Black Demon Army's strength, he hadn't expected their coordinated attack to be this overwhelming.

No wonder they were one of the Eight Ancient Clans!

Gritting his teeth, Elder Mu Gu compressed the black fog around him into a defensive shield, its ominous glow reflecting his desperation.

The Thunder Jiaos slammed into the shield with explosive force, sending shockwaves rippling across the desolate plains below, reducing large swathes of land to rubble.

The audience, watching from afar, stared in awe at the battle unfolding before them. Battles of this caliber, often reaching the Dou Zun level, were beyond anything they had seen before, leaving their hearts racing with excitement.

"Brother Mo Yu, do you know these people? They carry a powerful bloodline, far more terrifying than the seventh-grade magical beasts in the Inner Academy's mountains," Zi Yan said, her large eyes filled with curiosity as she gazed at Mo Yu.

Nearby, Cai Lin and Qing Lin also cast questioning looks at Mo Yu, intrigued by the Lei Clan's mysterious experts and their unusual attitude toward him.

Mo Yu frowned slightly and replied in a low voice, "I'm not entirely sure. Perhaps there's something about me that interests them."

After some thought, Mo Yu began to piece things together. The Lei Clan's interest in him likely stemmed from one of two things: the Thunder Soul which on par with Heavenly Flames or his unparalleled Heavenly Thunder Body, a legendary battle physique even in the Great Thousand World.

Although he wasn't sure if attracting the attention of the Lei Clan was a blessing or a curse, the current situation left him no choice but to take things one step at a time. At least for now, the arrival of the Lei Clan had resolved a significant issue for him.

Elder Mu Gu from the Hall of Souls, while troublesome, paled in comparison to the formidable Lei Clan, one of the eight ancient clans; even if those Hall of Souls envoys were present, they would likely gain no advantage here.

As the clash of techniques concluded, the dust in the arena gradually settled. The dissipating black mist revealed Elder Mu Gu once more, his figure now visible to all. Though still clad in his black robe, it had been torn to tatters, barely covering his body.

More striking was his coal-black appearance, charred as if scorched, with electric currents crackling across his skin where the Thunder Jiao's attacks had struck. His aura was significantly weakened, making it evident that even a Dou Zun powerhouse like him had suffered greatly under the onslaught of ten Thunder Jiao.

"Cough, cough… Truly worthy of the reputation of the eight ancient clans," Elder Mu Gu muttered, his body trembling from the numbing aftermath of the attacks.

He coughed heavily, then looked warily at the ten Black Demon Army soldiers surrounding him. The thought of what might happen if the formidable Black Demon Army Captain, Mang Ting, joined the fray sent shivers down his spine.

Mang Ting, entrusted with a commanding role in the Lei Clan's elite force, must at least be a three-star Dou Zun. With this realization, Elder Mu Gu's desire to retreat surged.

While capturing the She Lao's soul and returning it to the Hall of Souls would bring him great merit, he first needed to ensure he could survive.

"Hall of Souls powerhouses? They're nothing impressive," Mang Ting remarked coldly, his thunderous eyes sweeping disdainfully over the battered Elder Mu Gu.

Hearing this scornful taunt, Elder Mu Gu's face twitched in anger. His eyes flickered with fury but lacked the strength or courage to retort.

"Heh, I wonder what kind of relationship that silver-eyed boy has with the Lei Clan for them to send a Black Demon Army squad to aid him," Elder Mu Gu said, his voice calm but tinged with curiosity.

At these words, Mang Ting's expression darkened. His thunder-filled eyes narrowed as he stared at Elder Mu Gu, his voice sharp and icy: "There's a saying on the Dou Qi Continent: 'The more you know, the quicker you die.' So tell me, are you choosing to live or die?"

Elder Mu Gu's face stiffened, and he glanced at Mo Yu, who stood nearby. The Lei Clan's level of concern for this young man hinted at a significant secret. However, such matters were clearly beyond his reach; knowing more would only bring him closer to death.

"My apologies for overstepping," Elder Mu Gu said with a forced smile. With a wave of his hand, he tossed the She Lao's soul to Mang Ting. Simultaneously, a distorted space ripple appeared beside him.

"The item is yours, but I will report this matter to my Hall Master. While the Hall of Souls may not rival the Lei Clan, we are not so easily bullied. The Hun Clan will ensure justice is served," Elder Mu Gu added darkly before stepping into the spatial rift.

Before leaving, he unleashed a surge of black mist, which engulfed Han Feng, who had been trying to slip away unnoticed. Elder Mu Gu hadn't forgotten about the Sea Heart Flame, the reward he sought from this mission.

The mist quickly wrapped around Han Feng and dragged him to Elder Mu Gu's side, who smirked coldly before disappearing into the rift.

Just before the spatial rift closed, Elder Mu Gu cast a long, chilling look at Mo Yu, his gaze brimming with malice and foreboding.

Mang Ting, clad in his silver armor, didn't move to stop Elder Mu Gu's escape. Although the latter was weaker than him, Elder Mu Gu was still a Dou Zun. Without the means to decisively overpower him, forcing a confrontation would only lead to mutual harm.

As for Elder Mu Gu's veiled threats, Mang Ting dismissed them. The Hun Clan was strong, but with the Xiao Clan's decline, the Lei Clan was now one of the top three ancient clans. Mang Ting was confident they were no weaker than the Hun Clan.

When Mang Ting caught the weakened Seven-Winged Purple-Gold Serpent's soul, his expression shifted. The serpent's far-ancient Medusa bloodline had clearly been depleted to the brink, leaving it in a state of near collapse. Without extraordinary measures, it wouldn't survive much longer.

"Thank you, Captain Mang, for your assistance!"

As Elder Mu Gu departed, Mo Yu and the others quickly approached. Mo Yu bowed in gratitude to Mang Ting before shifting his concerned gaze to the She Lao's soul, his eyes filled with worry.
