Mo Yu and Qing Zhi strolled around the city center for about half an hour before stopping at a luxurious inn called Xuan Heaven and Earth.
The inn exuded extravagance from the outside, attracting a significant number of visitors. It seemed like an ideal place to rest temporarily.
With that thought, Mo Yu didn't hesitate further, leading Qing Zhi inside.
"Welcome!"
A young attendant stationed at the entrance noticed Mo Yu's extraordinary demeanor and immediately stepped forward with enthusiasm to greet him.
As a qualified doorman, though the attendant's status was low, his observational skills were excellent. At a glance, he could discern the unusual presence of Mo Yu and Qing Zhi.
"Are you travelers, sirs? Would you like to dine or stay?" the attendant asked respectfully with a smile.
"Prepare two top-quality rooms," Mo Yu replied after a brief pause.
"Certainly! Please wait a moment while I inform the manager." The attendant, delighted at the chance to serve such distinguished guests, led them to a seating area before hurrying to the counter.
Moments later, the attendant returned with two keys forged from black iron.
"Sir, these are our best Grade A rooms, costing fifty thousand gold coins per night. You may stay as long as you wish and settle the bill before leaving," the attendant explained with a smile.
"Fifty thousand per night?" Mo Yu raised an eyebrow at the steep price, one that would be remarkable even in Central Plains.
What intrigued Mo Yu more was the inn's "pay later" policy. "Aren't you worried about guests running off without paying?" he asked, voicing his doubts.
The attendant chuckled, seeming proud as he explained, "Sir, you must be new to this area. This inn belongs to the Xuan Clan, the foremost of the Five Major Clans in the Southern Region.
Xuan Heaven and Earth inns are spread across the Southern Region. With the Xuan Clan backing us, few would dare to shirk their bills. Anyone foolish enough to try would find it impossible to leave this sea region."
Hearing this, Mo Yu was momentarily taken aback, further impressed by the reputation of the Five Major Clans.
"Please, sirs, follow me," the attendant said, handing the keys to Mo Yu and Qing Zhi and bowing slightly.
"Lead the way," Mo Yu instructed.
The attendant led them deep into the inn, eventually stopping before two adjacent rooms. The location was quiet and serene, with rooms constructed from a unique deep-sea stone, ensuring both comfort and security.
"Here are your rooms. If you need anything, just ring the bell inside. I won't disturb your rest further," the attendant said with a smile.
Just as he was about to leave, Mo Yu stopped him.
"Do you know about Ten Thousand Snake Island?"
The attendant furrowed his brow slightly before shaking his head. "Apologies, sir. The Southern Region is vast, with countless islands. Even the prominent figures here may not know them all. I've never heard of Ten Thousand Snake Island."
Mo Yu frowned. His primary goal on this journey was Ten Thousand Snake Island, yet he was still without any leads.
"If you want information about Ten Thousand Snake Island, you might try the Water Sky Auction House.
It belongs to the Shui Clan. Although the Shui Clan has declined and is on the verge of falling out of the Five Major Clans, they still have deep roots.
Perhaps they might have some knowledge about Ten Thousand Snake Island," the attendant suggested.
Mo Yu nodded thoughtfully. At the very least, it was a lead worth pursuing. Wandering aimlessly without direction was not an effective approach.
After waving off the attendant, Mo Yu turned to examine the room. He wasn't particularly fussy about accommodations, but the quietness of the Grade A room pleased him. The expense seemed justified.
"It's late. Rest for now; we have important tasks tomorrow," Mo Yu instructed Qing Zhi before entering his room.
As night fell, the serene darkness enveloped the entire Void Abyss City.
Inside his room, Mo Yu stood with his hands behind his back, gazing at the brilliant stars in the sky. After a long silence, he furrowed his brow.
"The attendant didn't know anything about Ten Thousand Snake Island. Is it because the island is too obscure or its level too high for someone like him to know about?
Either way, this journey is unlikely to be smooth," Mo Yu muttered, sighing softly.
Before arriving in the Southern Region, he had thought the trip would be straightforward. With Qing Zhi, a Dou Zun, at his side, any resistance could be crushed.
However, upon arrival, Mo Yu realized the Southern Region's depth and complexity.
The Three Great Magical Beast Clans, the Five Major Human Clans, and the Eight Branches of the Sea Clan—all were forces no weaker than the Four Pavilions or even the Three Valleys.
Even with his Dou Zun-level trump card and Qing Zhi's strength, Mo Yu dared not claim he could dominate the region.
"Forget it. We'll check out the Water Sky Auction House tomorrow. Hopefully, there will be good news," he murmured, setting aside his worries. Sitting cross-legged on the bed, Mo Yu closed his silver eyes and began meditating.
The following morning, as the first rays of sunlight illuminated his strikingly handsome face, Mo Yu slowly opened his silver eyes.
After stretching, he heard Qing Zhi knock on the door.
"Go settle last night's bill. We'll head to the Water Sky Auction House in the city center afterward. If we get useful information, we'll leave immediately," Mo Yu instructed.
"Yes, Young Master!" Qing Zhi responded respectfully, promptly completing the task.
Soon, the two exited the inn and navigated through several streets, finally stopping before an ancient auction house in the city center.
Outside the auction house, a bustling crowd surged in and out, filling the air with noisy chatter.
"This must be the Water Sky Auction House. Impressive," Mo Yu remarked as he stepped inside.
The interior was surprisingly spacious, far larger than the Mite'er Auction House in the Jia Ma Empire. People dressed in various styles bustled about, many evidently not locals.
"Sir, I am a staff member of the Water Sky Auction House. How may I assist you?"
A seductive maid with peach-blossom eyes, dressed in minimal attire, approached Mo Yu with a smile.
"I'm looking for information. Does the auction house trade in intelligence?" Mo Yu asked, glancing at her briefly.
"Information?" The maid was momentarily surprised before smiling again.
"Of course. Please follow me—intelligence transactions are conducted in the southern section."
The maid with peach-blossom eyes smiled gently and turned to head toward the southern section of the hall. Mo Yu and Qing Zhi quickly followed.
When they arrived at the intelligence trading area, they found a long line already formed.
Seeing this, Mo Yu frowned slightly and then said to the maid, "I have urgent matters. Would it be possible to cut the line? I'm willing to pay double."
The maid's eyes lit up at his words, and she responded, "Certainly. Please wait here while I make the arrangements."
Mo Yu nodded, watching the maid walk away. Out of habit, he stepped back slightly, only to bump into someone behind him—a soft and delicate figure.
"Ah!"
A gentle cry came from behind him. Startled, Mo Yu turned quickly to see a young girl sitting on the ground, having fallen from the collision. With lightning speed, he reached out and grabbed her arm, helping her to her feet.
His movements were swift as the wind and quick as thunder. In an instant, Mo Yu had pulled the girl up.
After helping her stand, he furrowed his brow. For some reason, the moment he touched the girl, he felt as though something about him had been exposed.
Pondering this, Mo Yu glanced at the girl and noticed something peculiar. His silver eyes revealed a hint of surprise.
On the girl's chest was a badge with a wavy pattern resembling water ripples.
"A member of the Shui Clan?"
The girl looked young, likely around eighteen or nineteen. Her graceful figure complemented her delicate and stunning face, making her a beauty in her own right.
However, what drew Mo Yu's attention wasn't her appearance but the badge on her chest.
He had seen this badge just yesterday upon arriving in Void Abyss City, adorning the mysterious snow-white carriage. He recognized it as the emblem of the Shui Clan, one of the Five Major Clans of the South Sea Region.
"Are you all right?" Mo Yu asked curiously, scrutinizing the Shui Clan member before him.
"I'm... fine," the girl replied, her tone polite and without any haughtiness. She waved her hand lightly, indicating she was unharmed.
Yet, her gaze held a trace of curiosity as she looked at Mo Yu.
Noticing her expression, Mo Yu shifted his attention from the Shui Clan badge and furrowed his brows slightly.
When they had made contact earlier, he had distinctly felt a peculiar water-energy ripple within her body. This energy seemed capable of probing into secrets deep within one's heart.
As Mo Yu was mulling over this, a new group of people entered the southern section, altering the atmosphere in an instant.
"It's the second young master of the Yuan Clan. What is he doing here?"
"The Yuan Clan is far stronger than the declining Shui Clan among the Five Major Clans."
"I heard the Yuan Clan arranged a marriage with the Shui Clan ten years ago. If you do the math, it's about time for the ceremony, isn't it?"
...
Amidst the murmurs, Mo Yu turned his gaze toward the group entering the southern section.
At the forefront were two elderly men in black robes. Their expressions were cold, and they exuded immense auras. Their hands were tucked into their sleeves, and their demeanor was anything but ordinary.
However, what truly caught everyone's attention wasn't these two figures but rather an elderly man in a gray robe and a young man bearing the Black Yuan badge.
The gray-robed elder appeared to be quite advanced in age, his face etched with deep wrinkles. Although he seemed frail, the fact that he stood at the forefront suggested his extraordinary identity.
Anyone with some strength could discern the latent danger in his aura, even though it was not as overtly powerful as that of the two men behind him.
As for the young man with the Black Yuan badge, he was strikingly handsome but carried an air of arrogance beneath his charm.
This arrogance was understandable, given the badge on his chest marked him as a direct descendant of the Yuan Clan, one of the South Sea Region's Five Major Clans.
"Mu Xue, there you are. So, have you decided when we'll hold our wedding?"
As the crowd whispered among themselves, the young man with the Black Yuan badge directed his gaze toward Mo Yu's side, or more specifically, the Shui Clan girl beside him.
Hearing this, the girl's expression darkened slightly. She retorted coldly, "Yuan Ling, the Shui Clan has already declared that the engagement is null and void. While it's true that we were in the wrong initially, your Yuan Clan never raised any objections at the time. Why have you come here making such a scene today?"
The young man shook his head and replied, "You must be joking, Mu Xue. Marriage is a serious matter, not something to be treated lightly. How could I face my clan if we don't follow through?"
"Yuan Ling, don't twist the facts. Everyone knows your Yuan Clan's ambition is to annex the Shui Clan. Stop using this as an excuse!" Mu Xue's face turned pale with anger, and she couldn't help but shout.
"Heh, regardless of what you say, I am still your fiancée. For you to speak to me so rudely is improper. Once you're in the Yuan Clan, I'll teach you some manners," Yuan Ling replied, his smile unchanged.
Mu Xue's face flushed with indignation. The engagement between the Yuan and Shui Clans had initially been a strategic move by the Shui Clan to secure their position among the Five Major Clans.
However, as time passed, the Shui Clan realized the Yuan Clan intended to absorb them. In response, they had broken off the engagement, but the Yuan Clan was unwilling to let go.
While Mu Xue fumed over the Yuan Clan's actions, her gaze suddenly shifted toward Mo Yu, as if she had thought of something.
Noticing her gaze, Mo Yu frowned.
As an observer, he had pieced together the situation and had no intention of involving himself. Even though Mu Xue was undeniably beautiful, he wasn't interested in playing the hero or interfering.
Just as Mo Yu was about to turn and leave, a soft voice reached his ear via spiritual transmission, causing his expression to change slightly.
"Sir, could you help me? The Shui Clan... can lead you to the Ten Thousand Snake Island."
