**
On a remote corner of Void Abyss Island stood a massive dark blue ship, nearly a hundred meters long, exuding an air of dominance.
The ship's hull was encased in dark blue iron plating, giving it a remarkably sturdy appearance. On its vast sails fluttered a prominent character, "Shui," swaying proudly in the wind.
Clearly, this colossal ship belonged to the Shui Clan.
The Southern Sea, boundless and unpredictable, was fraught with ever-changing weather patterns and sudden disasters. Moreover, the number of Dou Zun-level experts among humans was relatively sparse in the region, making spatial wormholes exceedingly rare.
Thus, except for exceptionally powerful individuals, most people relied on specially crafted, robust ships to navigate these treacherous waters.
Onboard the Shui Clan's ship were many of their younger generation, stationed for security. When Mo Yu followed Shui Muqing and her party aboard, his arrival drew some curious glances.
"First Miss, Second Miss," an elderly man in a gray robe promptly greeted Shui Muqing as she boarded, bowing respectfully.
"Uncle Qin, set sail for Ten Thousand Snake Island," Shui Muqing ordered with a nod.
The elderly man hesitated momentarily but soon acknowledged her command.
As Mo Yu stepped aboard, he curiously observed the massive dark blue ship, which resembled a sea beast in its grandeur.
Hailing from the Northwest Region, Mo Yu was accustomed to land, forests, and deserts. This was his first time boarding such an enormous ship.
Having struck a deal with the Shui Clan, he was no longer interested in staying on Void Abyss Island. His eagerness to head for Ten Thousand Snake Island left little room for patience.
Unlike other regions, the Southern Region's vast oceans lacked the convenience of Central Plain's spatial wormholes, necessitating sea travel by ship.
Fortunately, as one of the Five Major Clans of the Southern Sea, even though the Shui Clan was in decline, their foundations remained solid. The massive ship, named Shui Lang, was a testament to their legacy.
In the Southern Sea, such a colossal ship, akin to an aircraft carrier, required substantial financial and material resources. Only top-tier forces could afford to own one.
The boundless sea stretched endlessly, with towering waves rolling in from afar, crashing against the ship's hull with deafening booms.
Standing at the bow, Mo Yu gazed at the infinite horizon. The salty sea breeze hit his face, and the vastness of the view lifted his spirits.
Days had passed since they left Void Abyss Island. Throughout the journey, they had been traveling nonstop, encountering strange and fearsome weather phenomena along the way.
The sheer power of nature revealed the formidable and unpredictable dangers of the Southern Sea. However, the Shui Clan's seasoned experience enabled them to navigate these challenges without incident.
"Void Abyss Island is quite a distance from Ten Thousand Snake Island," Shui Muqing said beside Mo Yu, "but leaving early allowed us enough time to arrive on schedule.
"Ten Thousand Snake Island is heavily guarded by the strongest forces year-round and only opens once every ten years. However, the number of entrants is limited to just ten."
"Only ten?" Mo Yu frowned.
The Southern Sea's sixteen elite powers consisted of the Eight Sea Clan, the Three Magic Beast Clans, and the Five Major Human Clans. Ten slots were far from enough to allocate even one per faction.
"This is because the Three Magic Beast Clans hold spots among the Southern Sea's top forces. Though fewer in number, their strength is unmatched. Only the strongest of the five human clans, the Xuan Clan, can compare to them.
"Unwilling to accept a single slot per faction, the forces agreed to allocate slots through a martial contest," Shui Muqing explained, her delicate face tinged with embarrassment.
After all, according to their deal, the Shui Clan was supposed to provide Mo Yu with a slot for Ten Thousand Snake Island. Yet, given their declining status, it had been years since they last secured one.
Mo Yu's expression darkened as he asked, "What are the contest rules? Are the top factions expected to send their strongest warriors into battle?"
If that were the case, Mo Yu was ready to abandon the deal. His side only had Qing Zhi, and competing against the other forces would be a significant disadvantage.
"No, no!" Shui Muqing hastily clarified. "It's only a competition for the slots, not a deadly clash. The rules prohibit sending anyone above the Dou Zun level.
"The bottom six forces challenge the top ten for a chance to claim their slot. Victory secures the position." Shui Muqing continued, "This time, we plan to have my second grandfather compete for you."
"What was the Shui Clan's rank last time?" Mo Yu asked.
Shui Muqing's expression froze, her delicate face flushing red. "...Last place."
Mo Yu wasn't surprised. Given the Shui Clan's decline, barely clinging to its status among the Five Major Clans, a poor ranking was expected.
Recalling the blue-robed elder repelled by Hei Yuan Zun Zhe, Mo Yu shook his head and said, "No need. I'll compete in the contest myself."
"What? You'll participate?" Shui Muqing was stunned, her face showing disbelief.
Even the blue-robed elder, Shui Muqing's second grandfather, couldn't help but intervene. "Young friend Mo Yu, do you doubt this old man's abilities? I assure you, I'll secure a slot for you even if it costs me my life!"
The elder's determined expression reflected his resolve. For the Shui Clan, making sacrifices to honor their commitment to Mo Yu was a given.
"Second Grandpa…" Shui Muxue's eyes reddened as she spoke, visibly distressed.
Mo Yu was moved by the Shui Clan's selfless resolve but maintained his stance, smiling lightly.
"You misunderstand, Elder. It's not that I doubt your abilities, but rather that I trust my own more."
"Oh? Do you truly have such confidence?" The elder was surprised.
Despite the Dou Zun expert accompanying Mo Yu, the young man himself seemed too inexperienced to contend with the top Dou Zong-level experts.
Mo Yu chuckled confidently. "This concerns my entry to Ten Thousand Snake Island. Naturally, I care more about the outcome than anyone else. Trust me—I've got this."
Seeing Mo Yu's confident demeanor, the Shui sisters and the old man in the blue robe exchanged glances. Ultimately, they granted him permission to enter the competition on his own.
After all, according to the agreement, the Ten Thousand Snake Island slot originally belonged to Mo Yu, giving him the highest decision-making authority.
"Every time the Ten Thousand Snake Island tournament is held, countless experts gather. This tournament is considered a major event," Shui Muqing remarked as they finalized Mo Yu's participation as the Shui Clan representative.
"Typically, those who attend are top experts from prominent factions, all of whom are well-known throughout the Southern Sea," she added.
"I guess I don't qualify, then," Mo Yu said with a smile, knowing he was a complete nobody in this region—an unknown newcomer.
"Perhaps you'll gain fame after the tournament," Shui Muxue teased, standing beside him with a charming smile.
Based on her observations, she realized that Mo Yu's destruction of the Ice River Valley wasn't solely due to terrifying techniques—his personal strength was equally extraordinary.
In her heart, Shui Muxue speculated that Mo Yu would undoubtedly be the dark horse of this competition.
"Are there any particularly troublesome opponents among the top ten ranked factions?" Mo Yu asked casually.
"Of course," Shui Muqing replied, her expression growing serious. "First, there are the three great magical beast clans. Their forces are powerful, and their number of experts is vast. They dominate the top five rankings almost every time, with only the Xuan Clan and the Sea Clan's Scaled Armor lineage capable of challenging them."
"Oh?" Mo Yu's eyes glimmered with surprise before he nodded quietly. As expected of the Southern Sea, it truly was the domain of oceanic magical beasts, with unparalleled power.
"So, I suggest you start by challenging the Luo Clan, which ranks tenth. Their representative this time should be Luo Batian, the Fourth Lord of the Luo Clan, an Eight-Star Dou Zong at his peak. He was originally my Second Grandfather's target," Shui Muqing suggested, looking at Mo Yu thoughtfully.
She was curious about how this young man, who was her peer, could be so confident about facing these renowned sea powerhouses.
Mo Yu nodded nonchalantly. With his current strength, as long as he didn't encounter a Dou Zun, winning wouldn't be much of an issue.
"What about that 'Jiao Crown Prince' from the Two-Headed Jiao Clan?" Mo Yu suddenly recalled the name mentioned by Yuan Ling earlier and asked curiously.
"The Jiao Crown Prince?" Shui Muqing's expression turned slightly unnatural before she forced a wry smile. "The Two-Headed Jiao Clan is considered the strongest among the three great magical beast clans. It's said they possess a trace of dragon bloodline, which makes their lineage extraordinarily noble.
"The last tournament's champion was from the Twin-Headed Jiao Clan, and the Jiao Crown Prince is the clan leader's son, as well as the strongest of their generation. He's even on par with some of the older monsters.
"Ten years ago, he represented the Twin-Headed Jiao Clan and dominated the competition as an Eight-Star Dou Zong, earning the title of being invincible beneath Dou Zun. His reputation in the Southern Sea is truly unmatched."
"Invincible beneath Dou Zun..." Mo Yu smirked faintly. A reputation like that was surely backed by genuine ability.
Now, he wondered what it would be like to face him.
"Currently, he's rumored to have reached the Half-Step Dou Zun level. As a magical beast, he's also an expert in physical combat.
There were even rumors that he recently fought a Dou Zun from Central Plains and nearly defeated him," Shui Muqing added, pausing hesitantly before continuing, "The Jiao Crown Prince once harbored some inappropriate intentions toward me. If you encounter him, it's best to avoid him..."
"Avoid him?"
Mo Yu chuckled softly. Although the Jiao Crown Prince was indeed formidable, he wasn't someone to be underestimated either.
"Besides, the other two great magical beast clans—the Xuan Clan and the Sea Clan's Scaled Armor lineage—are equally troublesome. Let's hope we don't run into them this time," Shui Muqing sighed.
As Shui Muqing explained, Mo Yu remained composed, his hands resting by his sides. His gaze turned toward the distant sea, where dark clouds seemed to gather, heralding an approaching storm.
After nearly a month of sailing, Mo Yu noticed the sea growing increasingly lively.
Massive ships approached from all directions, converging on a single location. The sight of countless vessels gathered together was spectacular.
"Ten Thousand Snake Island is here," the Shui sisters said excitedly, standing at the bow of the ship and gazing at the vast landmass emerging on the horizon.
Mo Yu looked up, noting that the so-called island was an enormous expanse of land. Despite the multitude of ships on the sea, the area seemed anything but crowded.
"That's the Shui Clan's ship."
"The ones on the bow must be the Shui sisters, right? Heh, they really are beauties."
"I heard Yuan Ling from the Yuan Clan recently visited the Shui Clan for a marriage proposal but returned humiliated."
"Oh? Isn't the Shui Clan in decline? How could they possibly thwart the Yuan Clan?"
"Apparently, they hired some outside help..."
As the Shui Clan's ship approached Ten Thousand Snake Island, whispers arose among the surrounding ships. The sight of the Shui Clan's emblem on the sail drew attention and speculation.
Hearing the murmurs, Shui Muqing frowned slightly before waving her hand. The ship quickly headed for the Shui Clan's designated dock, where a group of their guards awaited.
"Mo Yu, let's go."
As the ship neared the dock, Shui Muqing leaped gracefully into the air and landed on the pier. Mo Yu, Qing Zhi, and the other Shui Clan members followed suit.
"Young Miss, you've finally arrived!"
As Shui Muqing landed, several young members of the Shui Clan rushed forward to greet her. Clearly, she held significant authority within the family.
Shui Muqing acknowledged them with a nod before turning her attention to a middle-aged man approaching them. "Uncle Shui Ling," she greeted politely.
The man nodded in response, but as they drew closer, they noticed his face was clouded with anger. His tightly clenched fists and suppressed fury were evident.
"Uncle Shui Ling, what happened?" Shui Muqing asked, startled by his expression.
"Young Miss, our camp on Ten Thousand Snake Island has been taken over!" the man growled, his voice trembling with barely contained rage.
