Chapter 568: Chapter 569: Planning an Attack on a Soul Hall Branch
Chapter 569: Planning an Attack on a Soul Hall Branch
Inside the Alchemy Tower, the top powerhouses of the Alchemy Alliance had gathered due to the sudden changes in the Central Region's situation, to discuss and devise a strategy together. Coincidentally, Xiao Ze had just returned from his expedition in the Wild Ancient Territory, relieving many within the Alchemy Alliance's leadership.
As the catalyst behind the formation of the Alchemy Alliance, Xiao Ze, whose strength was unparalleled in the Alchemy Tower until the Grandmaster made his appearance, is a significant force. The Grandmaster, after all, is a wanderer, elusive and not a reliable pillar. In contrast, Xiao Ze, as the founder of the Alchemy Alliance, takes the affairs of the alliance to heart.
Now that Xiao Ze had returned, the alliance could operate more smoothly without feeling as constrained. After all, at this level, having one more or one less top powerhouse makes a considerable difference.
After Xiao Ze was briefed on recent events, he pondered for a moment and then spoke in a grave tone, "Given this situation, what plans do we have?"
Yao Lao, who now served as the president of the Alchemy Alliance, replied with a smile that barely concealed the chill in his eyes, "It's not feasible for the Alchemy Alliance to keep defending passively. To the outside world, it always seems like the Soul Alliance holds the initiative, relentlessly stirring up conflicts in the Central Region, while we only react passively."
"If this continues, it won't be favorable for attracting more powerhouses to our cause, especially since those reclusive old monsters are exceptionally opportunistic. Seeing the Alchemy Alliance at a disadvantage, even with the lure of medicinal pills, it's hard for them to be moved."
The room nodded in agreement, understanding that those who have cultivated to such a level are exceedingly cautious and adept at playing the political field, unless there's a direct opportunity for their own advancement.
"The Alchemy Alliance appears to be at a disadvantage under the constant assaults of the Soul Alliance, which does not bode well in the eyes of outsiders," someone commented.
"Yao Lao, are you suggesting that the Alchemy Alliance should go on the offensive?"
"Exactly! If the Soul Hall can attack our alchemists in the Central Region without restraint and hunt the souls of our powerhouses, then we cannot remain on the defensive indefinitely," Yao Lao declared. "Our scouts have already determined the locations of most of the Soul Hall's branches."
"Merely slaying those Soul Hall members who come hunting does little to hurt them, as it doesn't touch their real foundation."
"But if we destroy those long-established branches of the Soul Hall and kill their main and deputy hall masters, even the Soul Hall would feel the pain."
"Right! We should strike hard. Continuously defending like turtles is not why we formed this alliance," Fire Cloud Ancestor interjected decisively, "With our current strength, we have nothing to fear from the Soul Hall, so we should hit them hard!"
The consensus was to take the initiative, a decision met with unanimous approval.
Xiao Ze had no objections to this, as passive endurance was not in his character. The Soul Hall had already attacked the Northwest Continent twice, targeting the Alchemy Alliance multiple times in varying scales.
Under these circumstances, failing to destroy several of the Soul Hall's branches would not do justice to the attacks endured over this period.
After deciding on their course of action, the leaders discussed which branches to target.
"I think the priority should be to destroy the branches in the Central Region," one suggested. "The Central Region is essentially our stronghold. If the Soul Hall's branches can infiltrate here, it would be seen as a significant weakness."
"To achieve the greatest impact and prevent the Soul Hall from catching on, it would be best to divide our forces."
"Our intelligence suggests that the strongest members stationed in the Soul Hall's branches in the Central Region are only Soul Hall elders, not reaching the level of saints."
Xiao Ze quickly presented his view, and after some thought, everyone agreed.
"For now, let's maintain the unspoken rule that saints do not engage directly. Let's have the Dou Zun powerhouses from the Alchemy Alliance take action," someone proposed.
This understanding among the top forces in the Central Region allowed battles to be decided below the level of Dou Sheng, without involving the more powerful saints. Engaging saints would escalate the conflict significantly, leading to heavy casualties, especially given previous incidents where forces indiscriminately slaughtered the younger generations of their adversaries.
"Speaking of which, the Dou Zun powerhouses attracted by the Alchemy Alliance have been active in conflicts but haven't had a chance to truly distinguish themselves. This operation could let them prove their worth."
"This trip to the Wild Ancient Territory also netted me quite a few Bodhi seeds. If they truly distinguish themselves, I might even consider rewarding them with Bodhi pills."
This revelation sparked interest, not just among the foreign powerhouses drawn to the Alchemy Alliance but also among the member forces, all of whom valued Bodhi pills highly for their younger generations.
After some further discussion, everyone got to work selecting candidates to take part in the operation to destroy the Soul Hall branches. Despite the risks, the high-grade medicinal pills offered as incentives drew many volunteers.
And so, numerous forces affiliated with the Alchemy Alliance dispatched their Dou Zun powerhouses to participate in this campaign, each hoping to earn a Bodhi pill from Xiao Ze.
