Chasing You Like a Tenacious Falcon

Chapter 124

Wei Shixu didn’t need to be hospitalized, but he underwent a full set of medical examinations.

Quan Zhisui sat in the hospital corridor, waiting.

There were many bodyguards nearby, and Qian Cheng was constantly on the phone.

Not long after, a man in black hurried over and handed over a tablet. "Manager Qian, we’ve retrieved the surveillance footage."

Qian Cheng frowned as he opened it.

Quan Zhisui also stood up to take a look.

There were several clips of surveillance footage, thoroughly investigated. It wasn’t just the moment of the assault; even the corners of the pedestrian street were captured. However, the person disappeared into a blind spot, making it impossible to track further.

The assailant had come fully prepared, wearing a mask, sunglasses, and long sleeves, completely concealing their identity.

Qian Cheng furrowed his brow. "This will be difficult to investigate."

The others argued for a while, discussing the matter professionally, as if they knew what they were doing.

At that moment, Quan Zhisui spoke up. "Manager Qian, I’ll step out for a bit."

Qian Cheng was taken aback, but before he could say anything, she had already left quickly.

She walked out of the hospital and hailed a taxi, returning to the pedestrian street from earlier that afternoon.

She retraced the assailant’s escape route, observing the angles of the surveillance cameras.

Then, she made a call to her senior brother, Zi Yin.

"Hello? Senior Brother, I have something to ask you…"

"About five years ago, there was a member of the Xuanwu Sect, from the Wei generation. He didn’t often practice at Mount Wudang, but I happened to run into him once when he returned. I didn’t recognize him and ended up chasing him around, fighting him every day. Do you remember that person?"

Zi Yin recalled. "Ah, Wei Qing. You traumatized him so much that he never returned to the mountain."

Zi Yin: "I can, but it’s been so many years. Why are you looking for him now?"

Quan Zhisui: "I was too reckless back then. I want to apologize to him."

After hanging up, Quan Zhisui stood at the intersection, gazing at the beautiful, retro-style pedestrian street. Absentmindedly, she played with the agarwood bracelet on her wrist.

The beads were smooth, with a unique fragrance—an expensive, one-of-a-kind piece.

At 5:30 PM, Quan Zhisui returned to the hospital.

Wei Shixu had just finished his full set of examinations. When he saw her rushing through the hospital doors, his face showed both anxiety and displeasure.

"Where did you go?" He ran over quickly, ignoring his injuries.

Quan Zhisui reached out and grabbed his hand. "Come with me."

Wei Shixu looked at their intertwined hands, his tone softening into something gentle. "Where are you taking me?"

Quan Zhisui: "To eat barbecue."

Wei Shixu: "Alright, dinner it is."

They got into the Wei family car and rode in silence.

As they neared their destination, Wei Shixu’s phone lit up. He was about to check it when Quan Zhisui suddenly said, "Don’t look at your phone."

Wei Shisxu paused, then put his phone back in his pocket. "Okay."

They got out of the car and walked to the pedestrian street they had visited earlier that afternoon, one after the other.

Quan Zhisui led him to an alley beside the barbecue restaurant. The sky was gradually darkening, and a cool summer breeze brushed their faces.

The alley was empty and quiet.

Quan Zhisui stood with her back to him for a long time, saying nothing.

Wei Shixu’s heart began to race. "What’s wrong?"

Quan Zhisui glanced at the sky, then looked down and removed her agarwood bracelet.

*Thump—*

Wei Shixu felt his heartbeat quicken.

The next second.

*Snap!*

The agarwood bracelet landed on his face.

She had thrown it lightly, casually, as if tossing away trash.

At the same time, she turned to face him, her gaze fixed on Wei Shixu.

Wei Shixu looked at the bracelet on the ground, paused, then bent down to pick it up. He, too, remained silent.

The two stood quietly for a while.

Quan Zhisui finally spoke. "Stop pretending, Wei Shixu."

Wei Shixu held the agarwood bracelet, rolling the smooth beads between his fingers. They clicked together, producing a pleasant sound.

He smiled faintly, then looked up. "How did you figure it out?"

A cold glint flashed in Quan Zhisui’s eyes. "There are over a dozen sects at Mount Wudang. The 16th generation of the Sanfeng Sect uses the character ‘Zi,’ while the 16th generation of the Xuanwu Sect uses ‘Wei.’ There are many members."

"You’re really impressive. Out of all those martial artists, you specifically chose someone who doesn’t practice on the mountain. Wei Qing’s records indeed show no time spent there."

"You planned everything meticulously, but there are always coincidences in this world."

Wei Shixu remained silent, his expression calm as he waited for her to continue.

Quan Zhisui continued, "I fought him when I was younger, challenging his dojo. Coincidentally, I remember him."

"You thought I was just randomly fighting? Every time I fought, win or lose, I would analyze the match, memorizing my opponent’s strengths and weaknesses!"

"So not only do I remember him, but I also remember his habitual movements, his fighting style, angles, and even his points of strength."

"You went to such great lengths, even arranging for people to discuss the surveillance footage in front of me, just to make me believe it was all a coincidence?"

"Covering your face didn’t help. I recognized you."

Wei Shixu nodded. "I overdid it. The more you do, the easier it is to slip up."

Quan Zhisui: "Nothing in this world is foolproof."

Wei Shixu smiled faintly. "If he doesn’t practice on the mountain, how did you end up fighting him? Let me understand before I die."

Quan Zhisui: "Exactly because he doesn’t practice on the mountain. When he returned once, I didn’t recognize him and got curious. I chased him around, fighting him for over ten days straight."

"I see," Wei Shixu said, fiddling with the agarwood beads.

No wonder Wei Qing said he was good at running away. Being chased and beaten from a young age would leave a lasting impression.

Quan Zhisui spoke again. "You really put on a good show. Every detail was traceable, and every moment I felt something was off, you had a reasonable explanation. You even dragged the Yan Family into this to take the blame."

At this, Quan Zhisui stared at him with a cold smile. "What? Did you want me to feel guilty? Guilty enough to accept you?"

Wei Shixu chuckled. "You’ve figured it all out. I’m truly impressed. I admit defeat."

Quan Zhisui asked, "The two incidents with the thugs near the school—you orchestrated them, didn’t you?"

Wei Shixu nodded. "Yes."

Quan Zhisui stared into his eyes. "And your tears—were they fake too?"

Wei Shixu sighed. "Yes and no. How can you fake something like that?"

Quan Zhisui frowned. "Then what were you crying about?"

Wei Shixu: "I was sad. I thought about all the sad things in my life."

Quan Zhisui took a step back, her gaze cold and distant.

Wei Shixu, on the other hand, took a step forward. "When I cried, did you feel even the slightest bit moved?"

"No," Quan Zhisui answered bluntly and coldly. "The persona you put on isn’t the type I like. I only felt pity, not affection."

Now, even that pity was gone, replaced by anger at being deceived.

Wei Shixu asked, "Alright, one last question. Can I still win you back?"

Quan Zhisui glanced at him, a mocking smile on her lips. "Let’s just end it here."

With that, she turned and walked away, brushing past him.

Wei Shixu watched her retreating figure, his eyes flickering with a mix of surprise and intrigue.

Revenge.

Was she getting back at him?

Twice now, she had thrown his own words back at him, word for word.

And the timing of her retaliation was impeccable.
