Chapter 253 — The Birth of the Great Herrscher of the Void…
Nagami held Sirin's small hand as they walked down the street of a small town not far from Babel Tower.
Well… "not far" was relative—it was actually nearly a hundred kilometers away.
Sunlight poured down from the sky, bathing the world in golden warmth, while pure white snowflakes danced through the air, drifting with the wind.
Sirin's Herrscher personality seemed calmer today.
She looked almost like a normal little girl, her expression carrying a trace of childlike innocence.
Like a mischievous kitten, she clung to Nagami's arm, eyes roaming curiously over her surroundings.
Whenever she spotted something she wanted, she would tug him toward it—and, of course, Nagami indulged her every whim without hesitation.
After all, to the Herrscher of Reason, money was nothing more than a trivial, external thing. Gold? Just another common metal.
Nagami could effortlessly recreate enough of it to collapse an entire nation's economy and it wouldn't vanish afterward.
It was simply a matter of converting Honkai energy into a real, physical object.
Even better, doing so didn't consume his maximum Honkai energy reserve—the Void Archives would automatically replenish what was spent from the Imaginary Space.
That was one of the key differences between the Void Archives and a regular Herrscher of Reason core.
While Sirin was distracted, Nagami quietly caught the mosquito-sized Honkai beast and trapped it in his palm.
Even though the tiny creature didn't speak to him, Nagami could sense its urgency through the Herrscher of Sentience's authority.
"Don't worry, little Benares," he murmured so softly it was almost imperceptible. "The true Herrscher of the Void will be born soon."
He gently tapped the tiny beast's head, and it immediately reverted to trembling like a frightened insect.
Yes—this little thing was Sirin's companion Honkai beast, born the moment the Herrscher of the Void core came into existence.
Once Sirin fully awakened, it would transform into the true Judgment-class Honkai beast—Benares.
Her golden eyes shimmered faintly, a strange light flickering within them.
Looking around at the unfamiliar, vibrant world, Sirin's gaze sparkled, as though tiny stars twinkled inside.
She had been imprisoned in Babel Tower's laboratory for years.
The last time she saw the outside world… well, it had been far too long.
This was the combined result of Nagami suppressing her Herrscher persona and the influence of the outside environment—but sadly, it wouldn't last forever.
The Herrscher core's growth was far faster than Nagami had anticipated, and it would soon reach full maturity.
"Nagami… do I really have a future?"
They walked down a snow-laden street that was nearly empty due to the worsening weather.
Sirin leaned half against him, her voice earnest. His body radiated a gentle warmth she couldn't help but cling to.
Even someone with a naturally proud and guarded personality couldn't stay aloof forever.
Whether Nagami truly was her future husband… Sirin wasn't certain.
But right now, that question didn't feel all that important.
"Of course. You're already holding your future in your hands."
Nagami tightened his grip on her delicate hand, gazing directly into her golden eyes as they slowly regained their light.
His smile never wavered.
"My future husband, huh… that's really…"
Her words faded into a whisper too quiet even for Nagami to hear.
Lowering her lashes, shadows fell across her cheeks.
Then, after a pause, she wrapped her slender arms around his neck, resting her head on his shoulder.
From this hidden angle, golden light flickered in her eyes.
"You're really so reliable☆… You'll help me get revenge on Schicksal, won't you? My Nagami☆~"
"Of course. No matter what happens, I'll always be by my little queen's side."
He ran his fingers through her smooth, violet hair, his smile curling as he sensed a ripple of Honkai energy in the distance.
"But first—let's claim the complete authority over space."
"Mm☆!"
With her cheerful reply, Nagami followed the disturbance and opened a spatial gate.
Holding Sirin in his arms, he stepped through.
Dozens of kilometers away, they emerged from a shimmering, lightning-edged Imaginary Door.
Before them stood a massive egg, over ten meters in diameter, surrounded by blue and pink crystalline pillars.
It was the egg of the Emperor-class Honkai beast, Apos.
To Nagami now, ordinary Emperor-class beasts were nothing more than disposable pawns—easily destroyed with a flick of the wrist.
The egg was only the surface.
The true destination lay in the Imaginary Space intertwined with the egg's location.
"This place is…?"
Sirin reached out cautiously.
The space before them rippled like water, as though alive, pushing back against Nagami's approach.
She didn't even have time to ask before the feathers within Nagami's soul shimmered faintly—and the will barring their way vanished without a trace.
No—it didn't vanish.
It ignored Nagami's existence entirely.
They kept moving forward.
Endless darkness embraced them, silent to the point that not even the faintest whisper of wind could be heard.
Sirin felt as though she were falling into a bottomless abyss, and instinctively tightened her grip on Nagami's hand.
Then, from within that deeper darkness, a light appeared—soft, almost gentle.
It illuminated a single, ordinary hospital bed.
On it lay a frail, thin figure, a pained expression still etched across their face.
"Mom!"
The moment she saw the figure, Sirin darted forward, rushing to the bedside.
Her small body trembled uncontrollably from panic, her lips parting to let out broken, sobbing syllables.
"I don't want this! Don't leave me alone, Mom!"
She collapsed against the figure on the bed, tears streaming endlessly down her cheeks.
"I'm here. I won't let you be alone," Nagami said, opening his arms to embrace the tiny girl.
"Nagami…" Sirin curled into a tight ball, burying herself into the warmth of the boy's chest.
Her pale face grew even whiter, and the golden crosses in her pupils flickered faster than ever before.
High above, in the void of imaginary space, a strange violet glow drifted in the darkness.
[Yes… that's it!]
[Only by tearing apart that human heart can you truly become a Herrscher!]
It was as if it neither noticed Nagami nor realized that Sirin had not yet reached true despair.
The violet light, coiling in ominous darkness, became a faint meteor and slid silently toward her.
[Tear it apart… Tear the space… Tear the human heart…]
With those fragmented whispers came visions—researchers tormenting her, friends dying in agony, being treated like nothing but trash.
All of it played out around her like a holographic nightmare.
And with it came the power—the authority over space itself.
But in the very next instant, a voice rang out through the entire realm, sharp and brazen, cutting through the illusion like thunder.
"Rip my ass—how about I rip you first?!"
At the exact moment Sirin seized the complete authority of space, the star-feather within Nagami's soul erupted in brilliant light.
The Honkai consciousness that had been poised to shatter her mind was violently torn apart, utterly annihilated.
In that same heartbeat, scarlet-winged birds burst from Nagami's eyes, accompanied by the overwhelming power of the Herrscher of Sentience.
Even though this was only a fragment of the Honkai's will, its sheer volume still surpassed everything Nagami had absorbed during the Third Eruption.
But now—Nagami was no longer the person he had been back then. And this time… he held a trump card.
"God… Nagami…"
The bizarre turn of events left Sirin utterly confused.
The final stage of the process had brought no corruption to her mind—yet from the moment the Herrscher core appeared, her personality had begun to split.
Though "split" wasn't quite the right word.
From that moment onward, her self was divided into two sides—good and evil.
The "good" side was the Sirin who had once been pure and untainted, but it had never surfaced since her birth; it was instantly smothered by the "evil" side.
And the "evil" was evil because it bore the full brunt of the Honkai's corruption—that was how the Herrscher of the Void had been born.
But now… Nagami had stopped that corruption in its tracks!
Sirin clutched her head in pained as the endless clash of good and evil within her pushing her to the brink of collapse.
"Relax. I'm here. You'll be fine."
Nagami continue to spoke in a gentle, steady tone.
Holding the girl close as her purple Herrscher dress now fully materialized.
And naturally, in such a state, the one who took control of her body was none other than the Herrscher of the Void herself.
A sly smile had just begun to curl at her lips, but Sirin suddenly heard four words she didn't understand.
"Taixuan Sword God."
"Nagami… you…"
Her golden eyes stared at him in shock before the Herrscher's heavy eyelids slid closed.
Why? Because he just knocks her out with his hand.
"Phew. Guess I finally understand why even after lifting the memory seal, Sirin's attitude toward me is still so bad."
Nagami brushed aside a strand of hair covering her ear, exhaling softly.
"Come on—stepping out for the first time only to get whacked from behind? Anyone would be pissed."
