Chapter 259: God Lends a Hand?
Lin Beichen casually unleashed a streak of lightning.
The lightning bolt traversed a hundred meters of empty space, instantly shattering the sniper.
A mere sniper couldn't distract him at all.
Yet, tonight seemed far from quiet. Just as Lin Beichen withdrew his hand, a sudden scream pierced the night.
This scream was unusually seductive, like a woman's voice.
In the dead of night, a woman was deep in this deserted mountain road?
Lin Beichen looked back; the other riders hadn't caught up. He had enough time to satisfy his curiosity.
At the edge of a dense forest.
A woman was surrounded by three men.
Xue Lina stared intently at the leader opposite her, her heart full of regret.
She was a member of the Ace Squad from the Imperial Capital. Tonight, she had just handled a security incident and was on her way home. But she saw a suspicious vehicle on the way.
Three men were in the car, armed, discussing a bounty. They were talking about killing someone named Lin Beichen.
She had followed them all the way, without time to report to her team.
However, the mountain roads were complicated. She was eventually discovered and trapped in this dense forest.
Amid the trees, a man holding a broad-backed machete slowly emerged, eyes fierce.
The two scar-faced men beside him looked smug. The man closer to the forest-edge kept eyeing Xue Lina's curvy waist and hips, leering as he said:
"Big beauty, you can't escape. Hurry up and take off your clothes... If you cooperate well, I'll make you fly tonight!"
Xue Lina's face flushed with shame and anger, glaring fiercely at the two scarred men, her grip on the dagger tightening though helplessly loosing.
Xue Lina regretted deeply.
She shouldn't have acted on her own after completing her task this evening.
She had thought it was just a simple tailing job, not expecting the three were armed and didn't fear killing.
"Captain, what should we do with this chick? Kill her or play with her, or play then kill?"
The man addressed as captain heard this and snorted coldly, looking with disgust at the straightforward man.
"You idiot, do you think we're in Southeast Asia? Killing law enforcers here in Dragon Country, do you have a death wish?
You tracked Lin Beichen, did you have shit in your brain to let someone follow us all this way?"
The scarred men seemed very afraid of the captain and stood aside, not daring to speak, yet feeling somewhat disgruntled.
"Captain, this chick is too cunning! Look at her dressed like a slut. I didn't think much at first, who knew she was a cop!"
The other tried to mediate.
"Captain, neither play nor kill. She's seen our faces, can't we just let her go?"
"Let her go?
If we let her go, within half an hour, she'll lead people to hunt us down. How will we complete the mission then?"
As he spoke, the captain stepped out of the woods, raising the broad-backed machete to hack at Xue Lina.
Xue Lina was horrified; she hadn't expected them to be so ruthless.
The sudden gleam of the machete left Xue Lina's mind blank.
As the machete's light sliced towards Xue Lina's neck, the sky suddenly rumbled, and a bolt of lightning struck accurately nearby.
The captain was caught off guard, throwing away the machete in fear, gazing up at the sky in terror.
Xue Lina snapped back to reality, the sudden lightning seemed like heaven itself aiding her.
Though Xue Lina was equally shaken by the sky, she was even more exhilarated.
What an opportunity!
While the three were still dazed, Xue Lina grasped her dagger, slashing the right-hand man's chest.
The scarred man on the right felt a chill on his chest, followed by excruciating pain, and screamed, collapsing to the ground.
Xue Lina showed no mercy, her dagger extremely sharp, carving a deep wound across his chest.
Blood gushed out, staining his clothes, making the man look like he was already dead.
Having dealt with one, Xue Lina didn't relent, retreating with a light step.
The other man felt darkness before his eyes. As he attempted to react, it was too late.
Xue Lina's dagger plunged into the scarred shoulder with force, and with the other hand, she snatched his weapon, aiming it at the remaining man.
"Wanna live? Don't move."
Xue Lina roared angrily.
Her swift actions were seamless, within seconds, she killed one, controlled another, and aimed her gun at the captain.
The situation changed unexpectedly; the captain looked at the gun's black hole, his earlier arrogance and murderous intent turning into fear.
"Boss, don't let this bitch go."
The controlled scar-faced man cried miserably.
The situation turned drastically; they hated Xue Lina to the core.
They regretted deeply.
They shouldn't have wasted time talking nonsense; they should have killed her immediately. Now one was dead, one seriously injured, and the captain was a hostage.
Thinking of this, the scar-faced man looked at the ground.
Was it really heaven wanting them dead?
Why else would lightning strike just when Xue Lina was about to be killed?
That lightning fell right at Xue Lina's feet.
A sense of fear enveloped the two.
The captain stared at Xue Lina blankly, the memory of the lightning flashing, instantly terrifying him, and he ran off.
"Boss, save me!"
Seeing the boss escape, the scar-faced man screamed in despair.
Xue Lina's face was cold. She aimed instantly and pulled the trigger.
