Chapter 10: "A Uniform Too Tight, A Question Too Bold"

CLOVER Convenience Store.

"That'll be 332 yen in total."

"Thank you! Please come again!"

"..."

Ever since the convenience store upgraded last night, these small transactions barely registered in

his mind anymore.

Realistically speaking…

He would need to sell 100,000 small items just to trigger another store upgrade.

So…

He still needed to sell weapons!

After coming back last night, he had racked his brain but still couldn't figure out a good way to

open up the market.

Ding-dong—

"Welcome!"

The sound of the store's sensor pulled him out of his thoughts. When he looked up, he saw Azusa

Enomoto walking in.

"Good morning."

"I…"

Azusa looked like she wanted to say something but hesitated, her face tinged with awkwardness.

She was here as promised for her first day at work!

But…

Her decision to switch jobs was entirely because Akira had offered way too much money.

"Morning, Azusa!"

"Go ahead and change into our CLOVER convenience store uniform. I'll go over your daily tasks

afterward."

"..."

Since Azusa had prior work experience, she obviously wouldn't ask something as childish as

whether she had to change in front of him, unlike Yui Nakazumi. Without any guidance, she picked

up the green striped uniform and headed into the storage room.

But…

When she walked out, she had the same awkward expression as Yui did.

The uniform Akira had given her was way too snug.

More importantly…

This green striped outfit really accentuated her figure.

Even she felt like her chest looked a size bigger in it.

"Looks great," Akira said, not holding back his praise. He even had the urge to bite off the

buttons on her shirt.

"..."

Azusa gave a faint smile in response.

What did he mean by that?

Was he complimenting the CLOVER store uniform, or was he praising her… well-endowed figure?

"Azusa, your main job here is working the register. Second, you'll be organizing store inventory."

"I don't think that should be a problem for you."

Azusa nodded slightly. "I've worked at another convenience store before."

Perfect!

That meant he could completely slack off as a hands-off manager.

Teitan High School.

Ran was slumped over her desk at a perfect ninety-degree angle, pressing her cheek against

the surface.

She felt numb.

It was like she had been poisoned by Akira.

The moment she closed her eyes, all she could see was the memory of him pinning her against the

wall.

"Ran."

"What's with you lately?"

Something was definitely up.

Sonoko Suzuki had noticed that Ran had been completely out of it for the past two and a half days.

She couldn't help but feel suspicious.

"It's… it's nothing… I…" Ran initially wanted to find an excuse to be alone for a while, but in the next

moment, she changed her mind. She sat up straight, her expression suddenly serious. "Sonoko, if

that stuff stays inside… does it always lead to pregnancy?"

That's right!

Akira had done that last night.

"Nani???"

"Wait, don't tell me—"

Sonoko's face was full of shock.

Why had Ran been so out of it these past two days?

Why was she suddenly asking this kind of question?

Could it be…?

"No!" Ran waved her hands frantically. "I was just asking for a… a friend! My mom's friend's kid…

yeah, that's it."

She really didn't want to bring it up.

But Sonoko was her only close friend. If she didn't talk to her, who else could she ask?

"Ran."

"Be honest with me."

"Did you and Shinichi Kudo…?"

No way she was buying that "friend" excuse!

"Of course not!" Ran huffed. "Quit jumping to conclusions."

"I was just asking. If you don't want to answer, forget it."

Her sudden firmness caught Sonoko off guard.

Shinichi Kudo?

If Sonoko hadn't brought him up just now, Ran would have completely forgotten about his

existence.

Thinking about it…

Shinichi hadn't shown up at school for two days now.

"Ran."

"Are you seriously asking me this?"

"You, the top student, don't even know basic biology?!"

"Obviously, there's a chance! If it happened every time, hospitals would be packed with pregnant

women."

Of course, Ran knew that!

But…

Now that it was her situation, she would rather believe in superstitions than science.

"So what's the actual probability?"

Sonoko furrowed her brows at the question.

How was she supposed to know?

It's not like she had ever… you know… been in that situation!

…..
