Chapter 449: The King Has Fallen
The sun had finally set up.
It hung in the neck of the sky.
The training had started at five a.m in the dark and now it was bright noon.
But instead of being relaxed after the training, everyone was tense.
The Admiral, Harlia Dagarus, had arrived on the ground and had said that they had to commence the war right now.
Then, after Flashy did his love confession, the Admiral climbed on the stage, stood beside Pablo and said the same thing.
They have to commence the war right now. The Gong had been rung.
And after hearing this, everyone's first thought was:
We didn't hear the gong at all. What was she talking about?
Harlia saw the looks on the soldiers faces and she darted his eyes at Pablo.
Pablo nodded.
"She doesn't mean that literally. No gong has been rung in actuality. She is saying metaphorically."
The soldiers heard that and they all went Ohh.
Pablo shook his head and the Admiral carried on.
"Everyone, and you should listen to this as well, Pablo. Things took a turn yesterday night."
"What happened?" Pablo asked. He was utmost serious as he was sure if it was something meager, the Admiral herself wouldn't have paid a visit like this.
He was fast asleep yesterday night and if something had happened, he would have woken up. But nothing happened last night. So what was Harlia saying?
Pablo and everyone else paid attention to the woman and Flashy also paid attention to her but not in a way the other soldiers were paying.
Nevertheless, no one bothered with him, and Harlia revealed:
"Last night, a king was thrown off his throne."
Pablo's brows shot up.
The soldiers also gasped.
"Which king? Which kingdom? Say everything, Admiral. I am not a fan of mysteries." Pablo asked for the main thing.
Harlia sighed.
"The Jasper Kingdom. It happened in Jasper kingdom."
Pablo frowned. "The Kingdom of the Vampires? Is it because the demon killed their crown prince when he had come to kill our king during the white mist pandemic? Seeing that the king has no legal heir, did common people overthrow him and choose someone else?"
Harlia shook her head.
"Nothing like that happened. Even with no heir, the vampire king was strong enough to rule over his kingdom for a hundred more years."
"Why do you say he was strong enough? Is he…" Pablo was about to guess something and Harlia proved him right.
"Yes. The King of the vampires is dead."
GASP!
Everyone gasped again.
Pablo furrowed his brows as things were really serious.
Vampires had the same king for many years and the reason he could rule over them this long was because he was the strongest of them all.
But now he was dead. No, not dead. Killed.
Now whether Pablo should worry about this or not, would be decided by the next thing Harlia would say. And she did.
"You must be thinking how could this even happen. The king was the strongest. He couldn't be killed. He was practically immortal. But that's the thing about strength, Pablo…"
Harlia let out a tired sigh.
"Anyone can have it."
Pablo stayed silent but the next second, he spoke again.
"Cut to the chase. Tell me everything. Tell me the whole news. Tell me all the shit you know about this and why this makes us wage the war against the Cannibals right now. Speak."
This time, Harlia went silent.
All the soldiers also stared at Pablo.
The reason being…
"Watch your tone, Marshal. I am not someone you could talk to like this." Harlia declared.
Pablo clenched his fist.
'I will kill you right now, bitch.'
Harlia didn't know that Pablo had the same attitude as her. In fact, he was five times worse than her.
Pablo had talked to Harlia in a way he talked to those whom he sees lower than him. Which was everyone.
So his manner of speech that annoyed Harlia was the same manner he used with everyone. He was only acting like he respected her but the news made him forget his acting for a second and his real personality came out.
However, he had to endure it. He couldn't have the kill of the Admiral in his hands. He knew the woman was strong and if the fight started, time would be consumed and time was of the essence right now.
Therefore, he calmed down his anger and simply bowed his head a little.
He didn't say sorry though. He never apologizes for his personality.
Harlia also didn't fret over a sorry as well as for her too, time was of the essence.
That's why she let it go and continued to tell everything.
"Last night, I received a report. A report from Jasper kingdom itself. And I was instantly shocked to see it even before reading it."
Everyone frowned. Why was she shocked to see the report even before reading it?
Harlia answered that herself.
"I received a report from Jasper kingdom. And before you all think that I had an informant in that kingdom that's why I got a report from there, let me tell you: I have no informant in that kingdom. I used to have one but he was killed last month. But that isn't important right now. What matters is, I got a report from that kingdom even when I don't have an informant there. It was as strange as it could get."
Everyone nodded. It was indeed strange. But if she had no informant then who sent the report?
"I got the report from the new king of the vampires himself."
Everyone's eyes widened and Harlia carried on.
"On the report, everything that happened last night was written. I wasn't expecting something great but as soon as I read the first line of the report, I stood up from my seat. All my sleep vanished in an instant."
No one said anything and the Admiral shared the first line of the report.
"The Final War begins now."
