Chapter 528: Emperor Liang Meets the Miao King
Treasure Piggy immediately climbed out of Lu Zhaoyan's arms, stretched out his little arms, and flopped toward Emperor Liang: "Great-grandfather, great-grandfather!"
Eunuch Yu was startled.
Little ancestor, are you trying to make His Majesty take you to chase birds?
Your great-grandfather is the ruler of a nation, how could he go bird chasing?
"Waaa—Baby has no bird anymore—"
Treasure Piggy cried to the heavens, and tears brimmed in his eyes without warning, his heartbroken appearance nearly shattered everyone's hearts.
Emperor Liang picked up the little one: "Come, great-grandfather will help you find it."
"Mhm!" Treasure Piggy nodded firmly.
Of course, Emperor Liang wouldn't chase the bird himself, but that didn't stop him from holding his great-grandson to watch the spectacle.
On the rooftop, Ji Feng appeared.
Lu Zhaoyan nodded toward him, and Ji Feng leapt high, chasing in the direction where the bird had flown.
Cui Hu emerged and stood at Lu Zhaoyan's side, furrowing his brows while looking at the others moving away: "Your Highness, something feels off. When has Prince Jin ever been so kind? What's his game? Could he be planning to pull some dirty trick and frame us?"
"Unusual behavior always hides ulterior motives, definitely so!"
Lu Zhaoyan cast him a sidelong glance: "Knowing his ill intent, why aren't you keeping an eye on him? Did Father send you to the Crown Prince Mansion because I'm lonely?"
Cui Hu clutched his chest: "Your Highness means—"
Lu Zhaoyan: "You talk too much."
Cui Hu: "..."
Lu Zhaoyan watched Prince Jin, who seemed to be enthusiastically chasing the bird but always lagging slightly behind: "Big Brother, you truly are relentless, stopping at nothing to bring down the Crown Prince Mansion."
He followed leisurely.
After only a few steps, Steward Jia hurriedly approached, glancing around cautiously.
Lu Zhaoyan asked calmly: "Has the young master taken my father-in-law out of the mansion?"
Steward Jia anxiously replied: "I was just about to tell you, the back door has been blocked, and now there's no way out."
Lu Zhaoyan said with an impassive face: "My dear elder brother truly came prepared."
Steward Jia awkwardly asked: "I don't quite understand, why can't His Majesty be allowed to meet Mr. Liu…"
Lu Zhaoyan replied: "He is the Miao King."
Steward Jia stumbled and twisted himself into a bizarre split on the spot—
Cui Hu and Ji Feng kept chasing the bird while watching Prince Jin; each time they were about to catch it, Prince Jin would "accidentally" knock them aside.
"He's doing it on purpose!"
Cui Hu gritted his teeth.
"That bird is strange."
Ji Feng said.
Cui Hu asked, puzzled: "What's strange about it?"
Ji Feng said seriously: "It seems to be deliberately circling the mansion, like it's following a route."
Cui Hu leapt up, chasing Ji Feng onto the rooftop: "Now that you mention it, you're right!"
"Someone is controlling this bird." Ji Feng scanned the surroundings. Who could it be? And where?
Cui Hu patted Ji Feng: "Quick, look, the bird is flying toward Mr. Liu's courtyard!"
Ji Feng suddenly froze.
Mr. Liu…
Prince Jin's target is him!
Cui Hu asked strangely: "Why did you stop?"
Ji Feng looked up and scanned the area. With a light tiptoe, he leapt onto a tall tree.
He saw it!
Outside the eastern wall of the Crown Prince Mansion, there was a beggar blowing a bone whistle.
It was him controlling the Golden-winged Sparrow.
Ji Feng furrowed his brows and was about to rush over to kill the man when an arrow shot through the clouds like a flying Star Hammer, striking the bone whistle from the man's hand.
The arrow had been fired from directly above him.
Ji Feng looked up and saw Yu Zichuan standing at the top of the tree, holding the glimmering, icy Houyi Bow.
The Golden-winged Sparrow, now out of control, stopped circling the mansion and zipped away from the Crown Prince Mansion.
Treasure Piggy wailed: "Baby's bird—"
The steadfast decision not to chase the bird personally was abandoned by Emperor Liang; upon seeing this, he immediately set down the little one and leapt after it.
Just as he was about to catch the Golden-winged Sparrow, a swift figure soared through the air, snatching the bird into a prepared cage.
The figure then landed smoothly, tossing Emperor Liang a provocatively casual silhouette!
Emperor Liang landed back on the lawn, gazing at the figure suspiciously.
He had visited the Crown Prince Mansion many times, but had never encountered such skill.
To be precise, even in the entire Imperial City, there was likely not a second person capable of snatching something from his grasp.
"Father!"
Prince Jin rushed to Emperor Liang's side.
Lu Zhaoyan and Steward Jia were still dozens of steps away, but they also recognized that back silhouette.
"It's… it's the Miao…" Steward Jia covered his mouth, trembling in fear, "Mr. Liu—"
Harboring the Miao King meant family execution—
He wasn't ready to die yet—
Prince Jin reflected on the earlier move. Who else could spar with his father but the Miao King? Surely no one else.
Indeed, after searching high and low, it had come so effortlessly!
Lu Zhaoyan, your end is near!
"Who are you?"
Emperor Liang asked.
The Miao King patted his thigh: "I go by my name, and sit by my surname."
Steward Jia's knees wobbled uncontrollably: "It's over, it's over… We're doomed, we're doomed…"
