Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Rebirth in a New World
Darkness. Silence. Then—a deep breath.
Marvin's eyes opened, his chest moving up and down quickly. He braced for pain, but it was not there. Instead, he felt. Different. Strong. Alive.
His fingers flexed, and when he moved his hands, he saw the smooth, toned muscles. His arms were lean but strong. He sat up, touching his belly.
"Six-pack?" he grunted. "No way.
His body was different. He wasn't the same feeble researcher anymore. This body was stronger and more elegant. But why? How?
And then realization dawned.
Wait… where am I?
The bed he was lying on was unbearably soft, draped in silky sheets with golden threads embroidered with patterns. The walls were covered with marble and majestic pillars. A chandelier dangled from the ceiling, its crystals glinting with sunlight filtering through a gigantic window.
This is not a hospital… he thought. This is… wait a palace?
Knock on the door.
His heart skipped a beat.
A woman entered.
She was gorgeous.
Long, flowing black hair fell to her back. Her dark brown eyes softened and calmed his unease. Her lips curled into a soft smile, though her eyes contained worry.
"How are you? Do you feel anything?" she spoke softly
Marvin's mind short-circuited. His throat parched. Shit, she's gorgeous.
I…uh." He cleared his throat. "I feel… strange?"
She smiled softly. "You scared us half to death. We didn't think you'd wake up so soon."
"Wake up?" he repeated. "Wait… how long have I been here?"
He didn't let her finish the sentence. His vision blurred. A wave of dizziness overcame him. The room swirled. His heartbeat pounded in his ears. His body felt light once more.
And then—
Awakening in a Digital Realm
A voice whispered in his head.
[Welcome, Host. I am Lumina, your integrated cognitive assistance system.]
Marvin's breath caught. "Lumina?"
[Affirmative. Your physical body could not be saved, but your consciousness was preserved. You have been reborn in a new form.]
"Reborn…?"
Data overwhelmed his mind. A new world, unlike anything he had experienced.
Dragons. Monsters. Elves. Demons. Vampires. Humans.
A world split into seven great continents:
Ice Continent – A frozen wasteland ruled by ancient beings.
Demon Continent – Home of the fearsome Demon Lords.
Four Continents of the Dragon Kings – Each ruled by a warrior possessing a dragon's soul.
Medagast – The largest continent, home to countless civilizations.
Within Medagast, kingdoms existed—the elven realm, the monstrous fortresses, the human empires, and a destroyed kingdom called Thalassia, the Ocean Jewel.
Among the powerful nations, four had the strength to wield the power of the dragons, attaining the title of Dragon Kings—the most formidable creatures in existence.
The name Thalassia seared into his mind as his consciousness changed once more.
A crisp breath.
He was in the opulent chamber again.
No…
Not Marvin.
He was Prince Kai Alaric of Thalassia, and his parents were King Rhydian and Queen Elara.
Memories that weren't his flooded his mind—his childhood, his training, the fallen glory of his kingdom. And the woman before him…
She wasn't just anyone.
She was Princess Seraphina, heir to the Celestial Empire.
Kai—Marvin—felt his breath hitch as she leaned closer, her gaze searching his face.
"You're awake… truly awake," she whispered, relief washing over her features.
But before he could respond, another wave of dizziness hit. His vision darkened.
Two lives. Two worlds. One fate.
And so Dragon's Rebirth had begun ??.
