CW Flash: I Copy Attributes

Chapter 28: My Pet, Gorilla Grodd

"What was that?"

Caitlin and Cisco watched the screens before them with wide eyes upon seeing Barry deal with the Metas in a single second.

"How fast did he just go?" Caitlin asked, prompting Cisco to turn, confusing himself further at the answer to her question.

"Not any faster than he usually does." He muttered, looking back to Barry helping Derek back to his feet.

But in the coming seconds, Caitlin's lips curled upwards in joy as she spoke into the microphone.

"Guys, you did it!" Caitlin exclaimed, snapping Cisco out of his trance and making him realise something she already had.

Who cares what happened?

They survived and won too.

Knowing this, Cisco threw his fists into the air, yelling, "Yeah, Team Flash!"

Both Derek and Barry could hear this, chuckling softly.

"Um…guys…"

The mood instantly sunk as Caitlin's tone changed, even more so in the next second.

"Above you!"

Both Barry and Derek shot their heads up, only to witness a giant glacier moving toward them at frightening speeds.

"Dad…"

Barry turned his head, assuming the worst.

"Go, I'll clear everyone here." Derek nodded, lessening some of the load off Barry's shoulders.

-CRACKLE

-WHOOSH

Barry sped off, his lightning blaring throughout the prison.

His figure blurred, and his first stop was Weather Wizard, seeing the man exhausted and on his knees after conjuring two giant Hailstones.

But a swift punch to the jaw left the man unconscious as Barry placed Meta-dampening handcuffs on him, one he found in the prison.

Placing the Meta before CCPD who were outside, Barry went back in, scouring the entire prison for his father while getting out anyone he could, all before the Hailstone hit the prison.

Meanwhile…

"Alright…"

Derek stood under the Glacier, watching it as if he were watching the sunset, all while what remained of his Eclipse scattered to trap the Metas around him.

"I'd love to stay and watch, but I have somewhere important to be."

***

"Huff…Huff…Huff."

Heavy breaths kicked up the dirt on the floor as a giant silverback gorilla, otherwise known as Gorilla Grodd, struggled to quell his racing heart.

It wasn't racing because he was scared or because of any emotion for that matter.

No, he was simply driven to his limit, suffering from exhaustion that made him want to drop down and instantly fall into a deep sleep.

But he couldn't for one specific reason.

That reason stood before him in the form of a humanoid obsidian…something.

When he hit it, it would reform as if it had never hit in the first place.

His psychic abilities wouldn't work on it either. I was as though the thing didn't have a mind.

Additionally, its go-to move was to wrap itself around him, restraining him as best it could, making running or escaping near impossible.

It was as if it was his natural enemy.

Yet, despite having the chance to multiple times, it didn't kill Grodd. Instead choosing to play with him, further infuriating the gorilla.

"My son..."

Grodd shot his head back, only to lay his eyes on a cloaked figure with the same colour clothing as the thing he was fighting, the only difference being the golden highlights around the wrist, waist and high collar.

Despite Grodd knowing this, he paused at the words the figure spoke.

"Who are you to call Grodd son? Only one man owns that right." Grodd spoke, his very voice making the pebbles on the ground tremble.

"Oh, my son. How deeply offended I am that you don't recognise me."

As the figure said this, he removed his hood, revealing an older male with jet-black hair and a few wrinkles that depicted his age.

Grodd was taken aback, staring at the smiling figure, recognising the man as his Father, also Harrison Wells.

"Father...but Grodd doesn't understand..."

Grodd froze, his confusion growing as he witnessed the thing he'd been fighting all this time shoot toward his supposed father, merging with the clothes he wore.

"Worry not, my son. This was simply all a ruse to trick the Flash." Though Wells explained this, it raised more questions than it answered.

"But you tell Grodd to fight in the war. To make sure the prison was destroyed."

"Yes, and you did it. Iron Heights has been destroyed and we were victorious. I brought you here so you wouldn't get buried under the destruction, my son."

Grodd stared, clearly still wary.

"Do you doubt me? Look into my eyes. Do I lie?"

Wells stepped forward, standing before Grodd as the two locked eyes, staring.

"What did father plan to do today?" Grodd asked as if he were testing the old man. Or perhaps simply taking this opportunity to be nosy.

"To best the Flash, of course. Do you not see what we've accomplished today? We won."

"I watched you today. I watched the army of Metahumans you gathered with your powers. You liked it, didn't you? Controlling them. Ruling."

Grodd's eyes slowly widened as Wells said these words.

[Gorilla Grodd feels as though his greatest desires have been acknowledged]

Not only acknowledged, but done so by someone he always wanted approval from.

"Now with this step complete, we can do exactly that. We can both rule, as father and son." Wells held out his hand upon saying this as Grodd's eyes moved between it and Wells.

Gorilla Grodd.

There were two things he only cared about in this world.

The first was power.

Perhaps it was deep-rooted animal tendencies that drove him to be the king of the jungle, or maybe the need for approval he had never gotten from Wells that made him want to prove himself.

Either way, throughout the show, he'd been known for commanding armies and coming dangerously close to conquering Central City itself.

Hell, he even utilised the Speedforce at one point.

But the second thing that he arguably cared about more was Wells.

His father.

His father who had raised him, the only ray of sunshine during his torturous time at STAR Labs.

With this care came loyalty. However, Wells had only ever used Grodd to get what he wanted.

And though Grodd had a soft spot for Wells, even he knew deep down that this was the case.

But now, upon hearing these words from Wells, his brain shut off as his body was overrun with emotions.

"Father." Grodd finally acknowledged, taking his hand and laying at Well's feet while snuggling his arm, like a child preparing to sleep with their teddy bear.

"Yes..."

'Yes...'

Though Wells smiled wholesomely while petting Grodd, he had a more devilish expression hidden underneath.

'My pet, Gorilla Grodd! You and that ability of yours will be mine!'

[Transformation]

"Grodd, I will now send you to a land I've conquered, to an army who answer to me...to us both."

"What about you, father?"

"I will be right behind you. I just need to finish a few things."

Though reluctant, Grodd soon nodded as he submissively watched Eclipse wrap around him, soon completely covering him and lifting him off the ground, shooting into the sky.

'That went as planned.'

Wells, his skin crawling unnaturally, like a book folding its pages, revealing the face of a bright emerald-eyed boy, thought inwardly.

'This Charm stat has made me a great liar.' He thought amusingly.

But lying could only take him so far. He needed to also exploit Grodd's feelings and weaknesses, like his attachments to Wells and thirst for power.

Though the concept of Grodd seeking approval from Wells was briefly touched upon, Derek was perfectly able to use it to his advantage.

Why?

'Hm, I'm not too sure myself.'

If he had to put it into words...he understood.

Somehow, he understood what Grodd was going through.

With all this combined, he was sure to succeed, prompting him to look to the side at the window that had appeared a minute ago.

[Your understanding of Gorilla Grodd has increased drastically]

Seeing this, he grinned, his attire returning to his typical vigilante costume, if you could call it that.

"Now..."

***

Derek walked through an empty clearing, in what seemed to be the base for the start of construction for a large building.

With his bandana and baseball cap on, he walked, soon coming to a stop.

-VRRR

-VUAM

Derek suddenly witnessed a yellow-suited figure with a blurry face and menacing red eyes appear before him, ominous dark red lightning crackling around him.

"I've been waiting for you." Derek was the first to speak.

"Eager to die, are you?" Thawne mocked as Derek scoffed.

"What's wrong, still pissed about Bates? So fast yet so slow."

Thawne said nothing, pausing.

Perhaps he was controlling the anger boiling inside him or maybe he was taking a second to stare in the boy's eyes that had seemingly…changed.

Gone were the frightening and shaky pupils, replaced with a piercing snake-like gaze.

Either way, he continued in the next second.

"You once told me I was not the one to deliver you death. Well, times have changed since then."

Thawne bent his legs.

"I made a vow. Today, you will die by my hand."

-VRRR

-VUAM

Derek witnessed all time around them slow as Thawne shot toward him, pulling back his arm, fingers extended as it aimed for his heart.

Thawne exaggerated his movement, pulling back his attack further than necessary as if to mock Derek since he knew he could see.

But to this, Derek waited until he was just close enough until...

'Now!'

-BANG

Thawne suddenly came to an abrupt stop, his knees shooting into the ground and cracking the concrete.

"What...is this?"

He muttered, his body feeling as though it weighed a ton.

But just as he asked this, with his super speed perception, he was quickly able to notice something.

Tiny obsidian pellets scattered on not only his body but throughout the area.

They were so small that he hadn't seen it before. And when he did, he could only widen his eyes.

It was this that somehow weighed him down.

At that moment, Thawne realised something.

'This entire area...he has made it his Domain...'

But despite asking the question, he wasn't given the answer he was looking for.

"Ever heard of prep-time, motherfucker?"

-BANG

Derek swung his body, not even waiting for his foe to look up, CRACKING his fist on the side of Thawne's face without holding back.

Thawne spat a mouthful of blood, a single thought running through his mind.

'What strength...'

The punch was so strong it sent him rocketing to the ground, his head ricocheting off the hard ground.

Thawne dropped to his side, the tiny eclipses gathering on him and increasing his weight.

"Boy, that felt good! Come on, Thawne. Tonight. Let's end this all tonight!" Derek yelled, watching Thawne's red eyes glare at him dangerously, the youth's heart racing with excitement that made him grin.

But upon saying this, with a single command, Eclipse started to rise from the ground, enshrouding them and the entire clearing, creating their battleground.

"Let's do this!"
