Chapter 188: 58th Floor
The 58th floor, a vast plain with no passages or caves except entries to the 57th and 59th floors.
A wide wilderness, it was ideal for strong adventurers but offered no hiding spots, a disadvantage for the weak.
Weak adventurers couldn't reach here, making it favorable for those who could.
Upon arriving, the group launched their assault.
"We're back, monsters!" Tiona shouted, brandishing her Roland-series sword, akin to Urga's second generation, charging the nearest Valgang Dragon.
Valgang Dragons, 58th-floor monsters, were formidable, unlike dragons easily slain by loki familia.
Even High Class adventurers like her had to be cautious, especially in a group battle.
Focusing solely on one Valgang Dragon was risky with others attacking.
In a duel, Tiona's group could down one in under a minute.
In a melee, it took much longer.
They could pit Valgang Dragons against each other, but Loki Familia's formation, under Finn's command, stayed tight, efficiently culling dragons.
Injuries were inevitable.
Riveria's Via Shilheim had faded, and as a offensive mage now, she couldn't recast it.
Everyone's gear, except the Roland series, took damage.
New worm monsters swarmed the floor, drawn to Riveria and Lefiya's magic.
Orsted and Ais guarded them, turning their position into a vacuum zone.
No worms reached them.
Riveria and Lefiya's magic— wreaked havoc, turning monsters into ice or ash.
The 58th floor roared with battle and magic explosions.
The fight lasted over two hours, clearing the floor.
In the anime, Loki Familia's 58th-floor battle was glossed over—Tiona's group killed a few Valgang Dragons, then Riveria's Fimbulvetr ended it.
But this was reality.
The floor's monster horde was vast and tough, even for high class adventurers.
Riveria and Lefiya cast countless spells, exhausting their minds and downing multiple high potions.
Elsewhere, on the 53rd floor, a purple-coated figure waited in a passage.
"Strange, it's been so long. Why hasn't Loki Familia arrived?" a hoarse voice mused, backed by a swarm of worms, poised to ambush.
If Orsted were here, he'd recognize Filvis, Dionysus' top subordinate, with Level 7 strength when whole.
Split into clones, her power remained halved.
She didn't know Loki Familia took the Valgang Dragon's shortcut to the 58th floor.
On the 56th or 57th, she might've heard the battle's din—Level 5 and 6 adventurers and mages in full force were loud.
But on the 53rd, too many floors away, she sensed nothing.
She'd wait, possibly meeting Loki Familia returning from the 59th.
After two hours, the 58th floor was mostly cleared.
"Here, recover," Orsted said, handing potions to Riveria and Lefiya.
"Thanks," Riveria said, drinking. Lefiya followed, thanking him softly.
Everyone rested near the 59th-floor passage. Orsted gave potions only to the mages.
"Orsted, where'd you get this potion? It's way better than ours," Tiona said, eyes gleaming after drinking.
"It's strong," Finn agreed. "Where'd you buy it? Tell us."
"I made it myself. You can't buy it," Orsted replied, shaking his head.
"You make potions too? Unbelievable, but not surprising," Finn said, chuckling. Orsted's feats defied expectation.
"What a monster," Gareth muttered.
"Thanks," Orsted smiled.
"Orsted, can Loki Familia collaborate on potions?" Finn asked.
"Sorry, I'm swamped—adventuring, crafting, no time. I made these for the expedition."
"Most of our potions come from Naaza and Miach," Orsted said, smiling wryly.
"Pity," Finn said.
"If you ever change your mind, consider us. We won't shortchange you."
They discussed the 59th floor, but Orsted and Finn kept eyeing the passage entrance.
"What's up?" Tione asked, noticing. Nothing seemed off.
"Zeus familia's records say the 59th is a glacial floor," Finn said, still watching the entrance.
"But we feel no cold here," Orsted added.
"You should at the passage."
"Something's wrong with the 59th," Riveria realized.
"Exactly," Finn nodded.
"My thumb's throbbing. My gut says a major crisis awaits us."
He looked at Orsted. "Bring out your best gear. I'll pay your price later."
"It's pricey," Orsted warned, raising an eyebrow.
"Cost doesn't matter if it's safe," Finn said.
"Alright, choose what you want," Orsted shrugged, waving his hand.
Magic items and potions appeared before them.
"!"
