DC Heroes in Marvel

Chapter 331: C291

Hell Detective!

Xiaoyu is a big fan of the Justice League and Batman. Naturally, she's also familiar with most of Anton's films about the Justice League.

"You are the hell's detective!"

Xiaoyu screamed in excitement, her eyes shining. "You're real! So, you're also a member of the Justice League, right?"

"No, I wouldn't call myself a full member of the Justice League," Constantine replied, shaking his head. "At best, I'm a magical advisor for them."

Strictly speaking, he was part of the Justice League Dark, not the main Justice League. Anton, however, had no intention of revealing this to the public just yet.

"Either way, you know Batman!" Xiaoyu declared firmly. "That's good enough for me!"

"Yes."

Constantine smirked at her enthusiasm. He glanced around and saw four familiar yet unfamiliar faces. Comparing them to his memories, he quickly recognized who they were. His smirk widened.

"I know Batman. That's enough."

After arriving in Los Angeles' Chinatown, Anton first searched the High Table's information database for intel on the local gangs.

One detail caught his attention—an antique shop that even the major gangs seemed to avoid.

Papa's Antique Shop.

The name sounded oddly familiar.

As he approached the shop, realization dawned. The storefront matched an image from his memories exactly.

And just a few steps away from the entrance, he spotted a man with a big nose who looked 90% identical to someone he knew.

Isn't this just Jackie Chan with a different name?

For a brief moment, nostalgia hit Anton, and he found himself standing still, watching.

Then, as Jackie Chan (or his lookalike) headed toward the shop's entrance, Anton made a decision. In a dimly lit alleyway nearby, a blonde figure in a trench coat emerged.

Constantine stepped forward and casually struck up a conversation with Jackie. Before long, the two of them entered the antique shop together.

As they reached the doorway, familiar voices drifted out—Xiaoyu and "Dad" speaking in Chinese. Their exchange felt both warm and nostalgic.

Seizing the moment, Constantine responded to Xiaoyu's question in fluent Chinese.

As for Ghost Rider—Johnny Blaze—it didn't surprise Anton to find him in the antique shop.

Earlier, when Anton arrived at the store, he had already noticed something unusual. The entrance had been reduced to just two door frames, with shattered glass covering the ground.

And right outside, faint motorcycle tire marks gave away Ghost Rider's last known location.

This finally explained Anton's lingering doubts.

Johnny had entered Los Angeles earlier that night, and within four hours, he had eliminated 38 ruthless gangsters. By now, it was only around 5 a.m.—still dark.

Normally, Ghost Rider's power and the Spirit of Vengeance's influence peaked during the night. If that was the case, why had he suddenly disappeared right after 5 a.m.?

Typically, Ghost Rider wouldn't relinquish control until dawn, when Johnny regained his body.

Something must have happened around 5 a.m.

Now, it was clear—Dad had stopped Ghost Rider with magic.

The previous night's events likely played out like this:

Ghost Rider stormed into the antique shop, ready to deliver judgment on a thug under Valmont's control.

But that thug had since turned over a new leaf and become Dad's apprentice.

There was no way the old man would stand by and let his apprentice get burned alive by Ghost Rider.

A magical battle ensued, and Dad successfully halted Ghost Rider's attack.

Then, as dawn broke, the Spirit of Vengeance relinquished control. Johnny reverted to his human form, but because this was his first transformation into Ghost Rider, the experience overwhelmed him.

He passed out on the spot and hadn't woken up since.

As Anton processed all of this, he saw Jackie enter the shop. Without hesitation, he summoned a clone of Constantine.

Then came the Chinese conversation between Constantine and Xiaoyu.

...

"By the way, that Chinese you just spoke—your Chinese is so good!"

Xiaoyu jumped up and down excitedly. "They never mentioned that in the movies! Not once did they say you could speak Chinese! Even in the DC novels and comics, it's never brought up!"

"The stories are just a reference."

Constantine smiled. "I've mastered many languages—Chinese is just one of them."

As he spoke, he could tell he had earned the trust of everyone present.

Because they all knew Batman.

Even though Constantine had just denied being a member of the Justice League, his very presence was enough to represent Batman in their eyes.

And in this day and age, the only people who didn't trust Batman were either criminals or those with bad intentions.

The four people in the antique shop—Dad, Tru, Xiaoyu, and Jackie Chan—clearly didn't fall into that category.

"Right."

Jackie Chan suddenly interrupted the conversation, as if remembering something important.

"I went out to check things out. The Los Angeles gangs have put out a two-million-dollar bounty to capture last night's super killer… or, well, Ghost Rider. Keeping him here is dangerous."

After a brief pause, he turned to Constantine.

"If I'm not mistaken, you're here for him, aren't you?"

"His name is Johnny Blaze," Constantine replied. "He's not the dangerous one. The real threat is the Spirit of Vengeance inside him… and the Lord of Hell, Mephisto, who won't stop hounding him."

"Lord of Hell… Mephisto?"

Dad let out an "Oh" of surprise, his expression turning serious.

"This is big trouble."

"Mephisto?"

"Who's that?"

"Is he another terrifying demon?"

Xiaoyu, Tru, and Jackie exchanged uneasy glances.

"He's a demon far more terrifying than the Holy Lord."

Dad's voice was grave.

"In ancient times, the Holy Lord and the other seven demons ruled the Earth for a short period. They were powerful, yes—but in the grand scheme of Hell, they weren't true heavyweights. Mephisto, on the other hand, is a Lord of Hell—a demon that ruled over the underworld long before ancient civilization. Back then, demons like Mephisto treated Earth as a farm, raising humans just to devour their souls… until the Eight Immortals appeared."

"The Eight Immortals?"

Constantine narrowed his eyes, intrigued.

Even he was still absorbing this new piece of supernatural history.

Dad continued.

"The Eight Immortals used powerful Qi magic to defeat the eight great demons, including the Holy Lord, and sealed them in another dimension. Some call it 'Hell,' but in reality, it's a separate plane of existence, distinct from both Earth and the true Hell."
