Chapter 8: Chapter 8 – The Dawn of Gods

Chapter 8 – The Dawn of Gods

I sat behind the counter of my shop, slouched back in the chair, scrolling through the Internet. Bored out of my damn mind.

Owning a mysterious, reality-bending shop in Gotham had its perks, but when no one needed anything "wondrous," it got stupidly quiet. I sighed, drumming my fingers on the desk.

At least there was YouTube. Good ol' entertainment.

My eyes flicked over the screen as I clicked on a live news broadcast.

"Breaking news! A massive fire has engulfed a newly constructed skyscraper in Metropolis! Firefighters are struggling to contain the blaze, and many civilians remain trapped inside!"

The screen flickered, showing chaos in real-time—flames consuming floors, people screaming for help, sirens blaring.

And I didn't care.

Not in a cruel way, just… indifference.

I wasn't a hero. I didn't have some grand moral compass guiding my actions. Neither did Silas, the man whose body I now inhabited. We weren't wired to care about every disaster, every life at risk.

I sighed, about to close the video—

Then, it happened.

A gust of wind blasted through the scene, scattering embers, shaking cameras.

A moment later, civilians began appearing on the ground. Not jumping, not falling—just appearing in clusters, safe and unharmed. The fire, once raging wildly, froze solid, encased in ice.

The crowd went silent before a bystander shouted, pointing up.

The camera shakily followed—

There, against the moonlit sky, a figure hovered.

A flowing cape billowed in the wind. His body, carved from perfection, hovered like a divine being, watching over the city. A god among men.

Even though it was dark, I didn't need a clearer view. I already knew.

I leaned forward, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Superman."

So, he had finally arrived.

This world—the world I now lived in—was changing. One by one, the players were appearing.

The Flash would come soon if the particle accelerator explosion was any indication.

And Bruce? Batman? Still a ghost, nowhere to be found.

But it didn't matter. Not yet.

I clenched my jaw, excitement buzzing in my veins.

If the gods were descending, then I needed to be ready.

I needed to understand my powers. Master them.

I stood up, cracking my neck as I turned towards the back of the shop.

There, behind a simple wooden door, was a secret.

This shop wasn't just a store; it was a sanctuary. Hidden beneath it was an underground training chamber, connected to a pocket dimension.

I stepped forward, placing my palm against the door.

It glowed, veins of arcane blue energy spreading across the surface as runes ignited. The wood shifted, twisting into itself, before a portal of swirling blue light emerged.

No hesitation.

I stepped through, a clear goal in mind.

To grow stronger.

To understand the true depths of my power.

Because in this world of gods and monsters—

I refused to be weak.

To Be Continued…

(A/N: the first arc is over and a time skip will happen. But before that so far are you guys enjoying the story? If so leave a review.

Also do you want me to keep janet or just forget about her and stick with the main chicks. Like Raven, zatanna, supergirl, etc.

If you have more suggestions feel free to speak.)
