Chapter 607: 86. Proof of the Death God

A breakfast was enjoyed in a harmonious atmosphere, and Ilois went back to her room to pack up her belongings. She hadn't brought much with her when she arrived, but she was leaving with quite a few more items, clothes, and provisions Heidlin had packed for her following Valentina's instructions.

In fact, according to Valentina's instructions, she would be properly escorted back to the church by the Turand Family, and of course, she wouldn't need to spend any money on the way, so these items were all gifts of friendship given to Ilois.

It wasn't until Fisher helped her stuff each item into her suitcase that he suddenly realized Ilois had only brought with her the "Creation Scripture" he had copied for her. He looked down at the scripture and couldn't help but flip through a few pages, pausing for a few seconds before putting it down.

Sometimes, an object to a person is more than just an object; it inevitably carries bits of memories and experiences. The "Creation Scripture" was a symbol of his childhood, and now, this significance was joined by the figure of a Moon Rabbit Species Nun.

"Mr. Fisher, I forgot to thank you before. The extra pages you added made it much easier for me to study the 'Creation Scripture.' I've been reading it every night these past few days."

"No need to thank me. You let me conduct my research too, right? It's part of the trade... although I hadn't expected your body to be so frail, reacting the way it did when touched. You should take good care of yourself when you get back."

Fisher gave a slight smile and put the "Creation Scripture" back in her hands before standing up and glancing over the neatly packed luggage. In the corner of his eye, he saw her white elongated ears quiver slightly due to his words.

No matter how many times he saw them, Fisher always thought the long ears on her head were quite cute.

"Let's go, I'll take you down to the ship. Valentina has arranged for people from the Turand Family to escort you. You'll take the train back, and you should be able to reach Sardinia Female Country by tonight."

"Thank you, Mr. Fisher."

Fisher dragged her luggage downstairs, and Ilois hurriedly shook her head and followed. After hesitating for a moment, she finally spoke,

"You must be careful on your journey, Mr. Fisher. I know you're very capable, but please don't let down your guard... The Mother Goddess will bless each of Her children, and I'll pray for you at the church."

"It's okay, the only real danger he faces is being surrounded by his ex-girlfriends; this guy is pretty tough in other situations. Don't worry. By the way, would you like to be one of his ex-girlfriends? The more, the merrier, and who knows, there might be some perks."

Emhardt, the wretched book with the dead-fish eyes, wriggled out of Fisher's pocket again and suddenly spoke to Ilois, making her cover her mouth and chuckle. She could tell that Mr. Book wasn't in a good mood that morning, so of course, she didn't take his words seriously,

"Sure, let Mr. Fisher invite me personally when he returns to the Healing Corruption Church."

"Your mo-"

Watching Ilois's cheeky grin and feeling as if his "honest" words were not taken seriously, Emhardt felt as uncomfortable as if he had swallowed a fly. He nearly let out a phrase of feigned elegance when Fisher's unmerciful hand seized and sealed him back into the pocket.

"It looks like Mr. Book is in a bad mood today, did you two have a fight last night?"

"No, but he's angry."

"That so..."

Fisher and Ilois soon reached the elevator gate of the SS Unicorn, where Valentina had been waiting for some time, with the smiling Heidlin standing behind her. After exchanging greetings, Valentina glanced at the black carriage slowly pulling into the harbor and said to Ilois,

"People from the family have already arrived. They will send word back to me after delivering you. Tonight you will arrive in McDowell territory within Sardinia Female Country. You'll rest in the capital city for the night and return to Luxiang Castle's Healing Corruption Church in the morning..."

"Thank you for your generosity, Miss Valentina. May the Mother Goddess ensure your endeavors are smooth."

Valentina nodded with a smile. As the mechanical elevator slowly reached them and opened its doors, Ilois stepped in. Fisher, not planning to disembark, placed her luggage inside the elevator for the last time and took the chance to say, "Take care."

Ilois nodded. As the elevator doors slowly closed and descended with a tremble, her ears also began to sway. But just as the lift was about to disappear, she suddenly spoke out to Fisher,

"Mr. Fisher! Be sure to come back after you're finished. What I just said... about being my ex-girlfriend doesn't count, but other things still do..."

The rest of her words were muffled and inaudible, but Fisher was slightly startled, a look of surprise on his face. A second later, as if realizing something, he turned to look behind him, only to see Valentina in her wheelchair purse her lips and subconsciously avert her gaze, seeming to feel a bit cold.

Heidlin, too, had her lips quivering slightly at the scene that just unfolded. Even she couldn't help but suspect Fisher's motivations at this point,

"How come it feels like... your research on those demi-human females is just out of a plain desire for their bodies?"

"That's not true."
