Chapter 71: Chapter 63 - Rank Up

[HP : 680/680⬆️]

Ishida stared at the screen, feeling puzzled. Somehow, his tiredness and health were back to normal.

He started recalling what had happened. He remembered fighting hard, finishing a level quest, and then hitting his fatigue limit.

"Was I knocked out? Was it all just a dream?" he wondered aloud. He thought about the dark place he had been in and the mysterious voice he heard. It wasn't the first time he'd found himself in such a situation. He had been through something similar after the demons attacked, when he nearly lost his life and his family...

That thought hit him hard, and he quickly shook his head, trying to push it away. Even though he tried to stay calm and act confident on the outside, those memories still brought back feelings of regret, pain, and sadness. He wasn't ready to face them just yet.

"Wait a minute, if that voice I heard before was the same one, could it be the voice of this system?" Ishida wondered. He glanced around the completely empty floor where he'd been fighting before he lost consciousness. "And my injuries..." He looked at his hands, noticing they were completely healed now. "My health points are back up, my fatigue is stable, and my injuries are gone. But I don't remember using any healing potion or anything like that. Did that voice do this?" Everything felt so confusing and unreal to him.

Suddenly, a message appeared:

[The Restoration of HP and Fatigue for 'Player' is a reward for his determination.]

[Reward 2 - The Quest Paused for Player to regain consciousness]

[Warning: The Quest will resume in 4 minutes from where it paused.]

[Do you want to continue the side quest? If yes, the player can keep going with this quest. If no, move on to the 7th floor and continue the main quest.] [Y/N]

"Yes or no?" Ishida pondered. This side quest wasn't crucial for his progress since he had already reached the required level and even surpassed it. It was entirely up to him if he wanted to continue or move on.

Even though the quest wasn't essential anymore, Ishida realized it had been more rewarding than any of his previous quests. The amount of experience points he had gathered far surpassed any rewards promised before the quest started, so...

"YES!" Ishida declared after a brief moment of thinking. "I want to get stronger, much stronger, to surpass everyone and avenge them. I need to become strong. I'll fight to become stronger," he affirmed with confidence.

[Time Remaining Before The Quest Begins: 3 Minutes and 27 Seconds]

"Alright then, open the Player Profile!" Ishida commanded, eager to check his progress and stats in the system.

Ishida's eyes went wide as he looked at the screen showing his player profile. The words "Rank: Hashira" jumped out at him like a bright light, and for a moment, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. A rush of feelings washed over him—surprise, excitement, and a huge sense of pride.

"Hashira...?" he mumbled to himself, the word felt strange yet super important. It was a rank he had looked up to ever since he learned about the Demon Slayer Corps. Only the best and most skilled members held this position. Seeing it next to his name was both thrilling and unreal.

He took a deep breath, letting it all sink in. "Hashira," he said quietly again, feeling the weight of the title. It was a huge achievement he never thought he would reach so soon, but here he was.

After the initial surprise wore off, Ishida focused his mind back on the game and remembered the countdown for the quest to restart. He carefully thought about where to put his 45 stat points. "I think Vitality is the most important stat right now because it affects HP, some defense in the 2nd Form, and helps with fatigue. So, let's put a third of the points into vitality," he decided. "14 points into vitality!"

[Vitality: 68 + 14 = 82]

"Next... 9 points into strength."

[Strength: 71 + 9 = 80]

"10 points for agility, that's super important too."

[Agility: 65 + 10 = 75]

"8 points for sense."

[Sense: 65 + 8 = 73]

"...And... the leftover points into intelligence. So, 4 points."

[Intelligence: 64 + 4 = 68]

"Done! It looks good now..." he said, but suddenly he felt something he hadn't in ages, not since he was dead and then came back to life. "I feel hungry... But I shouldn't, according to the system," Ishida thought.

[PLOT HOLE FIXED: PLAYER CAN GET HUNGRY LIKE NORMAL HUMAN]

[For the sudden change, the player received food in the inventory]

"What a drag..."
