Dimensional Trader in Marvel

Chapter 362: The True Nature of Black Liquid, Prelude

"This is really interesting stuff. I've just finished the basic work of moving Earth's humans, and now only some rebels are left on Earth. I can try this thing and see if it can create sparks with Tiberium ore, or maybe start a new era!" Yuri said with great interest as he looked at the gene liquid and related experiment data that Josh had just traded to her.

After learning the true meaning of the "black liquid" gene liquid through Vickers, Josh naturally didn't forget his old friend Yuri.

"But you must take good safety measures, because this stuff is just an imperfect copy after all. It can easily evolve into dangerous and uncontrollable extreme creatures like aliens!" Josh warned.

After translating and organizing all the materials left in the ships and buildings by the engineers, Josh now truly understood what the black liquid was.

It was a copy of the "Deacon's" blood.

The Deacon here didn't refer to the Deacon alien that appeared at the end of the movie.

The real Deacon was an awesome creature that the engineers accidentally discovered during their long civilization.

This creature looked basically the same as the Deacon alien, but was actually as big as mountains.

Through observation and research, the engineers found that this powerful creature could easily destroy a planet's ecosystem and reshape the entire ecosystem.

Its blood could break down organic matter and reorganize it at the gene level.

So the engineers named this creature the Deacon—which had religious meaning—representing something that could help gods change the world.

At that time, the engineer civilization was also facing a problem.

Even though they had developed a very powerful civilization and had very long lives—about 30,000 years.

But for some reason, their ability to reproduce had problems.

In the Deacon, they saw hope for their race to continue.

So they worshipped this creature as their faith—this is where those murals in the engineer base came from.

So what those murals showed wasn't actually aliens, but the original Deacon.

But there was an obvious problem—such a powerful creature was very hard to control, and this powerful creature had very high intelligence and didn't want to become the engineers' test subject.

So both sides had intense conflict, and finally the engineers had no choice but to kill the Deacon and collect its blood.

Then they used its blood, combined with their own genes, and began spreading genes throughout the universe, trying to create life like themselves.

Humans were born during this process.

This was the scene at the beginning of the movie, where the "sacrifice" drank the Deacon's blood and became the seed of life.

In the deleted script of the movie, when the main characters found the engineer's body, David did translate the words on the door. It was a saying.

"Our Lord was born from the chosen one's body. His holy blood is our salvation and will plant new life on other worlds through our bodies."

This described the process.

But the Deacon's blood was limited, so it was very precious.

In the uncut movie version, the beginning didn't show just one engineer, but a whole sacrifice ceremony.

The conversation between several engineers also showed how precious the Deacon's blood was.

The version Josh saw in his previous life was heavily cut, so he didn't know this at first.

The real Deacon's blood was dark golden, not pure black like regular black liquid.

In Josh's view, besides Yuri, the super research expert, other traders from different dimensions would have quite a hard time controlling this stuff. He got along well with his current traders and didn't want to lose any of them because of this.

Of course, not all trading partners lacked this ability.

For example, Anakin from the Star Wars and Starscream from the Transformers still had room to work with it.

The former had advanced enough technology and also had the Force, which had huge potential.

The latter was a mechanical life form, naturally having some advantages over organic life forms.

But Anakin was still just a Jedi apprentice, so many things were not convenient for him to do.

As for Starscream... even though this guy had become much calmer and less violent after getting the Matrix of Leadership, he was still basically a supremacist. Who knew what trouble he would cause if the black liquid fell into his hands.

So it was enough to have Vickers and Yuri handle the black liquid. Josh could just wait to share the results.

After dealing with matters related to the black liquid, Josh turned his attention back to his own world.

After talking with Karl Renner last time, the old guy moved very quickly. In less than half a month, he had already gotten agreement from anti-Soviet forces in Czechoslovakia and Hungary.

As long as Austria could provide them with money and supplies, and send troops to help resist the Soviets at key moments, they would declare joining the United Kingdom as autonomous regions as soon as they broke free from Soviet control.

After getting confirmation, Josh and the Austrian side began discussing choosing a test site for the nuclear explosion.

This point really worried all the Austrian leaders.

There was no choice—Austria was a continental country. Even though it had many mountains, they were basically rich, good places. There were basically no deserts or wastelands. In this situation, throwing nuclear bombs on their own territory would be something only idiots would do.

Because of World War II, there were no overseas colonies, and overseas international relations were also average. So they couldn't learn from Britain and France to throw bombs overseas.

So it was very hard to find a suitable nuclear test site, especially since they were testing the Big Ivan with extremely terrifying power. They needed to let the Soviets and Americans feel the power of the nuclear bomb, but couldn't cause real damage.

The moon would have been a good place.

But that would be too far from Earth and wouldn't have the deterrent effect.

"Don't worry about it anymore. Let's drop it at the North Pole!" Finally, Josh stared at the globe for a long time and made the decision.

The North Pole area was above the Arctic Ocean. There was no land in that region, and it was surrounded by American and Soviet dependent forces.

Conducting an air burst here would minimize the harm from the explosion and radiation, but the shock waves and electromagnetic waves it produced could be completely detected by both America and the Soviet Union. (TL/N: An air burst or airburst is the detonation of an explosive device such as an anti-personnel artillery shell or a nuclear weapon in the air)

Also, this place was far enough from Austrian territory. The launch path would be chosen at the border area between East and West Germany, so the whole process could be completely observed by both camps. This would perfectly show the range and accuracy of intercontinental missiles.

It would be enough to create sufficient deterrent power for the whole world.

Josh didn't believe that after seeing the range and accuracy of intercontinental missiles, plus the power of Big Ivan, the Soviets would still dare to make a move.

America was even less likely to act. At most, they would maintain surface harmony with Austria from then on, but actually taking action was absolutely impossible.

Time passed quickly, and soon it was June.

In the past six months, the Soviet Union had successfully escalated internal conflicts again because of Khrushchev's series of anti-Stalin movements.

Many member countries began showing anti-Soviet tendencies.

The Western camp led by America seemed to see an opportunity and started getting involved.

But because of the Soviet Union's powerful military deterrent, most movements were still hidden underground, until the first leader appeared.

This leader was Poland.

As Europe's famous troublemaker, Poland never disappointed people.

So the famous Poznan incident broke out. (TL/N: The 1956 Poznań protests, also known as Poznań June, were the first of several massive protests against the communist government of the Polish People's Republic.)

Poznan was an important industrial city in Poland.

In June 1956, during the 25th Poznan International Fair, hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets, starting strikes and marches that led to armed conflicts.

Even though it was quickly suppressed by Warsaw authorities, it caused criticism from Western public opinion.

The Soviet Union at this time clearly hadn't realized the power of Western public opinion or the influence of the Poznan incident. In the following handling process, they actually chose to compromise with Poland, withdrew troops stationed in Poland, allowing Poland to successfully achieve de-Sovietization.

But during this process, one Western country took an avoidance strategy. (TL/N: the United States, adopted an avoidance strategy during the early Cold War era, particularly regarding involvement in the League of Nations, while simultaneously engaging in the United Nations to promote international security and commerce. This dual approach highlights a strategy of selectively engaging with international institutions while also seeking to counterbalance the influence of the Soviet Union)

This country was none other than America.

This was good—seeing the Soviet Union successfully compromise, many countries whose economies had declined because of Soviet policies immediately began copying this approach, wanting to de-Sovietize.

But by this time the Soviet Union had realized something was wrong and immediately began tightening control over member countries.

But it was already too late.

Soon Hungary and Czechoslovakia experienced similar movements.

Facing this situation, the Soviet Union immediately wanted to send troops to suppress them.

But before Soviet troops entered the territories of these two countries, Hungary and Czechoslovakia, under Josh and Karl Renner's instructions, performed a bold move.

They publicly sent telegrams asking America for support!

America at this time certainly couldn't support them.

Even though the East-West confrontation pattern had formed, America at this time really didn't want to fight the Soviet Union, so they took an avoidance attitude toward this matter.

Not only did they not help the two countries, but to show they didn't want to make things difficult for the Soviet Union, they also pulled back the troops originally stationed in border areas of these two countries—that is, the troops stationed in Austria—and gave Austria the same orders.

So Austrian troops and American troops in Austria moved out together.

But after moving out, American troops in Austria discovered that the Austrian army that was originally on their flank had moved into Czechoslovakia and Hungary.

And in the rear areas of Austria, large numbers of troops had appeared at some point, forming a surrounding position around these American troops who were moving in Austria.

Because American troops in Europe had been continuously reduced after World War II, now only about 100,000 remained, with most in Germany. The troops stationed in Austria were actually only three divisions, and most were lightly equipped rapid response forces.

But the Austrian army groups that now appeared around them had at least two army groups, all heavy army groups.

Much of their equipment was something these American troops, who had been stationed in Austria for several years, had never seen before.

At the same time, new fighter jets that were completely different from the Mirage 3s they usually saw began roaring through the sky.

Austria's operation confused America, confused the Soviet Union, and confused the whole world.
