Chapter 4161: Meeting The Grand Elder
"When's the next competition?" Davis asked. Explore stories at empire
"It is said that there's still seventy years left for it. After all, it happens every five hundred years. Each time it happens, an Upper Realm hosts it, so this time, it is said that it should be the Chrono Reign Upper Realm's turn." answered Gorolt.
"I see." Davis went silent.
It seemed like he wasn't in a world where a competition magically appeared on time for him to participate, no matter where he went.
As for the Chrono Reign Upper Realm, he recalled seeing a few supreme geniuses from there. They didn't make any trouble for him, so he didn't think ill of them. However, he knew their main branch was called the Hyluan Family. They were said to be extremely skilled in Time Laws as they appeared to have a special bloodline.
"Are you participating in it?"
"Nah. I'd win."
"As expected of a supreme genius of your caliber. I was shocked when that little wisp of soul force brushed against me. It really made me see the wider world." Gorolt was full of praise in the meantime.
"Enough of me. Bring more appetizing feasts for the fairy here. She needs to have an appetite instead of working hard and protecting someone like me day and night."
Davis commanded Gorolt to look after Illumina.
"…" Illumina blushed, but she didn't say otherwise.
Gorolt merely smiled. For a male supreme genius to have a female protector, it was usually their aunt or an elder of their family. However, if that wasn't the case, then they might even have physical relations.
He said no more and prepared a grand feast for Illumina.
Illumina ate it with restraint, never revealing her face behind her veil. However, she didn't stop eating, listening to Davis speak with the others. The warriors seemed to bond well after noticing that Davis wasn't unreasonable with them.
After a few hours, a crimson-robed man finally appeared in the pavilion.
He was tall and lean, with striking amber eyes that gleamed like molten gold. His hair was scarlet in color. He carried himself with an air of quiet confidence, and the warrior cultivators immediately stood up to greet him. They even went on their knees.
"Pavilion Master!"
Usually, the Pavilion Master wasn't here, so Gorolt was the incumbent Pavilion Master, but when Arys Duskbane was present, the roles changed
"I am Arys Duskbane," the man said, his voice carrying an undercurrent of danger. "It seems you've gone to some effort to find me. Let's hear what you want."
Davis glanced at Arys Duskbane coolly, his smile never wavering. "Trust me, Arys, what I want will be just as valuable to you as it is to me."
Arys Duskbane's eyes narrowed slightly at the disrespect. An Autarch like him would rarely have any regard for a supreme genius of an unknown power. If it wasn't a well-known power, they could play with a supreme genius as they liked and escape.
Who could threaten Autarch-level characters in a Lower Realm? It was difficult. They could just run around and waste that major power's resources. After all, it wasn't easy for a power from an Upper Realm to reach and function in the Lower Realm.
At the most, they would have sent out huge bounties for their capture, dead or alive. However, if they had connections to a Realm Master, even that kind of move could be jeopardized. Nonetheless, if it was a major power, they might send tens of Autarchs to visit, so it wasn't usually worth it to offend a supreme genius.
Arys Duskbane looked at Davis, wondering if he was from a major power from the Upper Realms. Regardless, he gestured for Davis to follow him deeper into the pavilion. "Then let's see if that claim holds up."
Davis didn't say anymore and stood up.
With that, the three of them vanished further into the Scarlet Ember Pavilion, the curtains closing in behind them.
Gorolt looked at his subordinates, wondering what was going to happen.
Inside the Pavilion Master's chamber, Davis sat opposite Arys Duskbane while Illumina stood behind Davis. She displayed no signs of dissatisfaction, making Arys Duskbane wonder who Davis could be. After all, he could tell Illumina wasn't an ordinary magical beast. Her aura was composed and hidden, but he could sense the regality behind it.
He became a bit interested in Davis.
"A supreme genius shouldn't be too arrogant. They wouldn't know when they die most of the time. Their life is more fleeting than a common man, as bright as a comet but surrounded by endless darkness."
"True." Davis chuckled, "You're the seventh Grand Elder of the Whispering Wildlands Peninsula, aren't you?"
Arys Duskbane raised his brows, wondering how he managed to garner that information when it shouldn't even be privy to the warriors outside. They only knew him as a Pavilion Master who had strange connections with the Whispering Wildlands Realm Master. They didn't even know who his family was, as this was just his place to act like a warrior and have fun with others.
After all, a life that is too long is a life that is too boring. Humans couldn't do without something going on in their lives. Meditation and closed-door sessions remedied most of that boredom but if that didn't do the trick, they would be restless and do something crazy. They could become listless or lifeless as well.
Nonetheless, Arys Duskbane didn't agree or disagree. He was about to ask the other party's background but changed his mind.
"Speak, what do you want?" He asked with an imposing voice.
Davis's lips curled into a wide grin, "A meeting with the Divine Emperor of Death."
"…?" Arys Duskbane looked at Davis as though wondering if he was fooling around.
The Divine Emperor of Death was searched by nearly every hunting force available in the Lower Realms, but he wasn't still found. For this supreme genius to come here and ask such a question, was he making fun of him?
"-is what your Realm Master would want, no? Otherwise, this realm could burn."
"…"
Arys Duskbane sat still for three whole seconds before he suddenly shot up. At that very moment, Illumina's claws were over his chest, a mere centimeter away from putting a hole and destroying his Transcendent Wheel.
Her speed was insane. Or was it even speed? Was she in front of him the whole time?
Arys Duskbane couldn't tell. His pupils were constricted with fear as he finally sensed her King-Tier undulations, but it was denser than what he would sense from a King-Tier Empyrean Beast, and he knew why as he stared at the black-robed man in front of him, finally realizing why he found this face a bit familiar.
Davis comfortably adjusted his seating position as he put one leg over the other.
"Now then- you will either take me to your Realm Master, or you will die and become my family's resource. Choose wisely."
