Chapter 183—The End of the First Day
[MC POV]
After lunch, I returned to my desk and began reviewing what I had studied in the morning. My mind felt clear, thanks to Yeonhee, and I was able to memorize the material more easily than expected.
Even so, there was still a large amount to go through, so it felt a bit difficult to memorize everything in one day. Still, I focused and did my best.
"Hmm… Joohyun, it looks like you had lunch with Yeonhee?"
"Ah, yes… I had a lunch appointment with Yeonhee… I mean, Ms. Yeonhee."
"Really? I'd like to get closer to her too, but I don't run into her often. It's harder than I thought to find a chance. Let's have lunch together sometime."
"Okay, I'll let her know later."
Thanks to the team leader, who talked to me occasionally and treated me kindly, the awkward atmosphere began to ease. However, the other senior team members still didn't seem interested in speaking to me.
I couldn't tell if this was just the usual atmosphere or if it was because I was a parachute hire. Either way, it felt like it would take time to get closer to them.
I spent the rest of my time going through the documents the team leader had given me. Before I knew it, it was time to leave.
"Okay, everyone worked hard today. See you all tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow."
Most of the other departments were still working, and hardly anyone else was getting ready to leave. Only Team 3 of the Sales Department was packing up to go home.
'Is this really okay?'
I thought overtime would be a normal part of working at a large company. But on the first day, the senior team members were leaving as if it was completely natural.
However, the team leader was still at her desk, working and not preparing to leave.
'Should I wait for her to leave before going home…?'
Since it was my first day, I felt it would look bad for a new employee to leave before the team leader. So I decided to stay. One by one, people from other departments began to leave as well.
By around 8 o'clock, almost everyone had gone. Only the team leader and I were left, with her still focused on her work.
"Ugh… Oh? Ju—Joohyun?! You haven't gone home yet?"
"Ah… yes, I was planning to leave when you did."
"No… You should have gone home…"
She looked a little surprised when she finally noticed me. She had been so focused on her work that she hadn't realized I was still there.
"Then let's go home now."
"Yes, understood."
"You haven't eaten dinner yet, have you? Let me treat you. Let's eat before heading home."
"No, that's okay."
"It's not okay with me… I really didn't know you were still here…"
She looked genuinely sorry as she apologized.
She was used to letting her subordinates leave first and staying behind to work. She hadn't expected me to still be there. She had been so focused, especially since she had occasionally glanced at me during the day, that she completely tuned out everything around her.
'I should let them know at home that I'll be eating out.'
Honestly, I was eager to go home and see the women waiting for me. But since she felt so bad and insisted on treating me, I couldn't refuse. That's how my first day at work came to an end.

[POV Change]
'I didn't expect him to stay… but this worked out well.'
These days, most employees avoid after-work dinners. Miyoung herself didn't like them either, so she had decided not to include such gatherings in her plans. She figured it would be difficult to build connections that way.
But now, this unexpected dinner alone with him felt like a bonus.
"There's a nice restaurant I know nearby. Let's go there."
"Yes, understood."
Looking at Joohyun, who acted much like any other new employee, Miyoung could almost mistake him for an ordinary hire.
'He probably isn't a family member by blood but someone who joined the family from the outside. He really does seem like Yeonhee's younger sister's boyfriend.'
She couldn't be completely sure, but his attitude and the way he treated others made him seem like a regular person.
He had likely gotten lucky by dating Yeonhee's younger sister, which gave him a boost in status. But Miyoung wasn't foolish enough to feel jealous about that.
If she could take advantage of this situation and turn Joohyun into an opportunity to reach her own goals, then his presence might be a stroke of luck for her.
"The sushi here is quite good… Is there anything you can't eat?"
"No, I'm not picky."
"That's a relief… We're here."
The restaurant Miyoung chose was a high-end place she liked but rarely visited. It had private rooms, making it perfect for conversation.
She didn't want any distractions to interfere with getting closer to Joohyun. So even if it cost more, she preferred a quiet place where they could be alone.
They entered a private room. As expected, it was peaceful and quiet. The atmosphere felt slightly awkward, but being alone with him created the ideal setting for her.
"So, how was your first day? Was it tough?"
"Yes, I haven't memorized everything yet… But I think I'll manage by tomorrow or the day after."
"You still have about a week, so don't rush. If you need anything or if anything feels uncomfortable, just let me know. I'll take care of it."
"Yes, thank you."
Miyoung, acting like a caring and thoughtful boss, smiled inwardly as she watched Joohyun respond with a smile. She was pleased that her plan was going smoothly.
She had no intention of giving Joohyun difficult or exhausting tasks in the future.
With his connections, he was bound to rise to an executive position naturally. There was no reason to burden him with hard work and risk leaving a bad impression. It was more important to assign tasks that would give him a sense of accomplishment and help build rapport.
Though her actions were selfish and driven by personal ambition, Miyoung didn't feel guilty. To her, nothing was more important than her own success.
"So, do you plan to have lunch with Yeonhee often?"
"Ah… yes. Of course, if I need to eat with team members, I will. But since Yeonhee… is alone, I think it would be good for me to be with her."
"Hmm… Is Yeonhee your girlfriend's older sister?"
"Yes, that's right."
Joohyun answered without hesitation, openly revealing his connection.
Miyoung smiled to herself. She had asked the question already knowing the answer, and his response confirmed her assumption.
"You seem close to Yeonhee. Not many people in the company are."
"I became close to her through Yeonji… Yes… very much…"
Joohyun's words sounded a bit vague, as if he had something more to say. But Miyoung didn't quite understand what he meant. She sensed that asking too much about Yeonhee might raise suspicion, so she chose to change the subject.
"What kind of work did you do before this?"
"Yes, I mainly worked in package delivery…"
"Wow… That must've been tough. That's impressive."
As their conversation continued, Miyoung subtly gathered more information about him. Just as she suspected, Joohyun didn't come from a privileged background. His life had likely changed after meeting Yeonji.
'This actually works out better.'
If they had come from completely different worlds, it might've been hard to relate. But since Joohyun had lived an ordinary life, it could be easier to connect with him.
She could tell that he was a kind and humble person.
'Alright, what should I do next…'
Her goal wasn't just to get close to Joohyun. She wanted him to think positively of her and willingly support her advancement within the company.
She didn't need to reach as high as the chairman's level. If she could just make a good impression on Yeonhee, that alone could help her climb to an executive position. For that, she also planned to use Joohyun to get closer to Yeonhee.
"Alright, let's eat."
The sushi they had been waiting for arrived. They ate while continuing light conversation. By the end of the meal, Miyoung felt that they had grown closer.
She smiled inwardly, satisfied with how well the dinner had gone.

[MC POV]
"I'm home."
"Welcome home, Oppa~~~~~~~~♥♥♥♥♥"
As soon as I stepped inside, the four women came out to greet me.
I had messaged them beforehand, so they were all waiting at the entrance right on time. It made me feel like the head of the household.
"You've worked hard, my son-in-law."
"You've worked hard, Master."
When my mother-in-law and Ahjeong greeted me, I naturally got hard.
"You were waiting for me like that?"
"I put this on just before you came home, my dear son-in-law.♥"
My mother-in-law greeted me with a sultry smile, dressed in a revealing maid bikini similar to the one Auntie Ahjeong had worn.
"For my hardworking son-in-law, I'll be the one to serve you personally tonight.♥"
Despite being their mother, she stood in front of her daughters like this, clearly intending to indulge in all sorts of lewd behavior.
'If that's the case, Yeonji and Yeonhee might be planning to do the same…'
It wouldn't have been surprising if all four of them had dressed up, but it seemed only my mother-in-law had prepared this time.
"I lost the bet, so only Mother gets to serve you today…"
Yeonhee spoke with a hint of regret, while Yeonji pouted, her cheeks puffed out in frustration.
Even so, she didn't argue. She simply accepted the result of the bet.
"I'll do it for you tomorrow, Oppa♥"
"Okay, Yeonji."
Yeonji, my lover, nodded calmly and accepted the situation.
With a seductive smile, my mother-in-law whispered,
"Then please enjoy your maid for today—your mother-in-law—as much as you'd like♥"
