Chapter 11: Chapter 11: The Confrontation and Tears
In the Valley of Kings, life went on as usual. People walked and shopped at the local Egyptian market, while royal camels and humble beggars went about their daily routines.
Inside Iras's palace, an eerie silence had given way to vibrant beauty. Colorful flowers now surrounded the palace, both inside and out. Hylos, with his fondness for flowers and gold jewelry, was the mastermind behind this transformation.
Iras sat in his room, his head resting on the table, lost in thought. He couldn't shake off the feeling that Hylos's inability to recall their intimate encounter was a sign of his lack of emotions.
Iras's frustration grew as he replayed Hylos's words in his mind. "He's just pretending," Iras thought to himself. "He doesn't truly care."
Meanwhile, Hylos had confined himself to his room, too ashamed to face Iras after the events of the previous night. Despite his pretense of having no memory of their encounter, Hylos's conscience gnawed at him, making him hesitant to leave his quarters.
Royal Confrontation:
The Queen paid an unexpected visit to Iras's palace, specifically seeking out Hylos. A member of Iras's staff entered his chambers to report the Queen's arrival, accompanied by her attendants. Iras rose to greet the Queen, who stood in the garden, surrounded by vibrant flowers.
As Iras approached, the Queen's expression turned stern, and Iras bowed his head in respect. "Thank you for visiting, Your Majesty," Iras said, his voice laced with deference.
The Queen turned away, her voice tinged with anger. "I didn't come here for you."
Iras responded, "If you're looking for Duke Hylos, he hasn't left his quarters, Your Majesty."
The Queen faced Iras, her eyes blazing. "I know Hylos asked for my help to escape you, promising that if I assisted him, he would be mine. So, General Iras, wait and see."
Iras's eyes widened in shock at the Queen's revelation.
Confrontation and Tears:
After the Queen left Iras's palace, Iras's expression darkened, consumed by the Queen's revelation about Hylos. He stormed towards Hylos's quarters, his face pale with rage.
The door to Hylos's room was open, and Iras entered quietly. Hylos sat on a grand, golden chair, startled when he saw Iras standing before him, eyes fixed on the floor, fists clenched.
Hylos rose, fearful of Iras's menacing gaze. He took a step back, but Iras advanced. "Is there a problem, General Iras?" Hylos stammered, trying to create distance.
Hylos retreated until his back hit the wall, and he couldn't move further. Iras stood before him, eyes blazing. "Is it true you asked the Queen for help?" Iras's voice trembled with anger.
Before Hylos could respond, Iras slapped him hard across the face. Hylos turned away, shocked. "Yes, it's true! I want freedom, and I don't want to be here!" Hylos shouted, his voice cracking.
Iras slapped him again, and Hylos cried out in pain, tears streaming down his face. Iras was taken aback by his actions and the sight of Hylos's tears. He turned away, but Hylos grasped his hand and embraced him from behind.
"Forgive me; I was too harsh, and I've made many mistakes," Hylos whispered, his voice shaking as he held Iras, who was also crying.
Iras faced Hylos and gently wiped away his tears. "Forgive me too, for hurting you," Iras whispered, his lips inches from Hylos.
Hylos's eyes widened as Iras's lips brushed against his. The gentle kiss took Hylos's breath away, and he stood there, frozen in surprise.
As the kiss deepened, Hylos's hands instinctively reached out, and he grasped Iras's hips, pulling him closer. Their lips moved in perfect harmony, the tension between them dissipating with each passing moment.
The kiss ignited a spark within them, and their passion began to simmer. Hylos's hands roamed Iras's body, exploring every curve and contour. Iras, too, surrendered to the moment, his fingers tracing the lines of Hylos's face.
Their once fraught with uncertainty, now blazed with clarity. In this moment, nothing else mattered – only they shared, the forgiveness that had brought them closer together.
A Moment of Tenderness:
As Iras and Hylos strolled through the garden, one of their staff members secretly watched them. Hylos sat down, and Iras tended to his face, gently touching the areas he had slapped earlier. Hylos's golden eyes gazed at Iras, whose face flushed with embarrassment.
"Oh, is it all better? Does it still hurt?" Iras asked, concern etched on his face.
Hylos smirked, teasing Iras. "Hey, why did you have to hit my face? Now my beauty's fading."
Iras's expression softened, and he leaned in to kiss Hylos's lips. "I made a mistake," he whispered, his eyes filled with regret.
Hylos smiled and returned the kiss, his lips gentle against Iras's. The tension between them dissipated, replaced by a deeper understanding and affection.
