Chapter 31: Chapter 29: Campus Bullying Incident
The three people walking toward the teaching building heard Dekisugi teasing Shizuka and looked back at him. They pointed at each other and said:
"How can we have a good relationship with Nobita? Nobita is an idiot..." Jaian and Suneo pointed directly at Nobita.
"Tch, how can I have a good relationship with Jaian, that stupid pig, and Suneo, that stinky fox," Nobita muttered, casting a look of contempt at Jaian and Suneo. He immediately forgot how terrible Jaian usually was and just blurted out the first thing on his mind. Before Dekisugi could reply, Nobita's bold mockery of Jaian caught Jaian's attention. He clenched his fists and glared at Nobita with a dark expression.
"Oh? Nobita, can you repeat what you just said? My ears aren't working well, so I didn't catch it," Jaian growled, looking dangerously at Nobita.
Nobita covered his mouth, realizing too late that Jaian was right beside him. His heart raced as cold sweat trickled down his face. He immediately tried to backtrack, but Jaian was already glaring at him, fists clenched.
"Yes, yes, you can call me a stinky fox, but calling Jaian a stupid pig? Nobita, you really deserve a beating," Suneo snickered from behind Jaian, his voice thick with mockery. As usual, he took the opportunity to flatter Jaian and poke fun at Nobita.
"Shut up!" Jaian snapped, punching Suneo in the back. Then, with a furious stare aimed at Nobita, he growled, "Nobita, I'm going to beat you up today. You can run, but you can't hide!"
Nobita, not willing to get beaten, bolted for the teaching building before Jaian could do anything. As long as he made it into the classroom, he would be safe. Jaian wouldn't be able to touch him until after school.
Dekisugi, observing the scene, scratched his head. "Did I say something wrong? It's obvious they have such a good relationship," he murmured, unsure.
Shizuka smiled, covering her mouth to stifle a laugh. "It's because Nobita and Jaian have been fighting since childhood," she explained.
"Hehehe, Nobita really deserves it. How dare he call me a stinky fox? How could my handsome face resemble a fox?" Suneo said, narcissistically rubbing his head. "But Jaian's fist... that really hurts."
Just then, a few students wearing red brooch badges with a smirking expression passed by Dekisugi, Shizuka, and Suneo. Dekisugi noticed and commented, "Is it popular to wear badges here? I've seen a lot of people wearing these. Is there some kind of event going on?"
Suneo looked over and immediately stiffened. He quickly covered his mouth and leaned toward Dekisugi and Shizuka, whispering, "Let me tell you, those badges belong to the World Peace Association."
"World Peace Association?" Dekisugi and Shizuka both asked, confused. They wondered why Suneo would mention such an association. Dekisugi was curious but noticed the students with badges didn't look happy. In fact, they looked more troubled.
Suneo leaned in closer and explained, "It's called the World Peace Association, but it's actually just a front for the bad kids at the middle school to collect protection money."
"Protection money?" Dekisugi and Shizuka both asked, now more intrigued.
Suneo continued, "Yeah, everyone who gets targeted by them is forced to join the club, and they have to pay a membership fee of 3,000 yuan every six months. Some students who don't want to pay get punished, so most people just end up paying. The worst part is, it's not just the older grades. Even the fifth and sixth grades have joined. Soon, it'll be our turn in the fourth grade."
Dekisugi frowned as he processed the information. "It sounds like a gang," he murmured, concerned. "How many people are involved?"
Suneo continued, "There are a lot of them, and they don't go easy on anyone. If you resist, you'll be punished. That's why we need to prepare the 3,000 yuan membership fee, especially you, Shizuka. They're not soft on girls, either."
Hearing this, Dekisugi furrowed his brow. He didn't want to get involved in such a thing. "I don't like it, but I can't do anything right now. I'm not strong enough to fight back against all of them... and these students are much older than us."
He didn't plan on doing anything rash, but the situation weighed on his mind.
The bell rang, signaling the start of the afternoon class. Dekisugi, Shizuka, and Suneo quickly left their conversation behind and ran to their classrooms. No one wanted to be late and face the punishment of standing during class. They made it just in time before the teacher entered.
As soon as they entered the classroom, Dekisugi saw Jaian with a furious face and Nobita making a grimace. It was clear that Nobita had made it to the classroom in time to avoid getting beaten up by Jaian, and now he was taunting him.
"Jaian, you stupid pig, come and hit me, hahaha!" Nobita taunted, clearly trying to get under Jaian's skin before he could do anything.
Jaian was fuming, his fists clenched in anger. "Damn it, you stinky Nobita... just wait until after school! This time... I won't let you run away!" Jaian gritted his teeth, practically vibrating with rage.
Dekisugi shook his head, disappointed. Nobita really did deserve a beating for his reckless behavior. But ignoring them for now, Dekisugi focused on organizing the desk as he prepared for class.
Just then, the teacher entered the classroom, and the room quickly quieted down. The teacher stood at the podium, cleared his throat, and took out the exam papers from his briefcase.
"Oh no!" Nobita groaned as soon as he saw the papers. "Why did the test papers come out so soon? It's over..." He slumped in his seat, already dreading the inevitable deduction of his pocket money.
