Douluo Dalu(Soul Land): My System Is Dissatisfied

Chapter 360: Chapter 360

Between the Jia Ma Empire, the Izumo Empire, and the Luoyan Empire lay a desolate stretch of land unclaimed by any nation—a no-man's land known as the Black Corner Region.

Long ago, legend tells of a red sun that soared into the heavens, scorching the once-vast forest and turning it into charred wasteland. The soil turned pitch black, earning the region its ominous name.

Few knew the real reason behind this change. But Ye Feng understood. It was here that the Ancient Emperor Tuoshe ascended to the realm of Dou Di, triggering a phenomenon that reshaped the land.

At the heart of the Black Corner Region sat a small town nestled between two towering mountain ridges. A dusty loess road led to the town's entrance, busy with travelers. Yet, every passerby bore tense expressions, as though suppressing something deep within themselves.

"Heping Town," Ye Feng said quietly.

After three days of travel, he and Ya Fei finally arrived at this gateway to Canaan Academy—the famed institution hidden in the treacherous Black Corner Region.

The people arriving here were not ordinary. Most were cultivators from the Black Corner Region, desperately restraining their killing intent.

Ya Fei's gaze drifted toward a twisted black tree near the town's entrance. Its skeletal branches stretched in all directions like claws, casting eerie shadows in the fading light. On closer inspection, several decaying corpses hung from its limbs. As the breeze passed, they creaked against the bark, swinging slowly.

"So that's the Undead Tree…" Ya Fei murmured. There was no fear in her voice.

Now Ye Feng's personal maid, Ya Fei had witnessed countless terrifying sights. A cursed tree and a few corpses were nothing to faze her.

The Undead Tree was infamous in the Black Corner Region. Rumor had it that a brutal clash between Canaan Academy and rogue factions from the region had once taken place here. The reasons were unclear, lost to history. But after the bloodbath, the corpses of two Dou Kings and a Dou Emperor were strung up on that tree in a display of grim warning.

Since that day, the towns surrounding Canaan Academy became sacred ground. No cultivator from the Black Corner Region dared bring murderous intent into these towns. The few who tried were quickly turned into lifeless corpses, added to the tree's collection within the hour.

As Ye Feng and Ya Fei approached the town, more than a dozen figures appeared in a flash, forming a line across the entrance. All wore identical light blue robes. On their chests gleamed a silver badge—inside it, the image of a dagger soaked in crimson blood.

The leading middle-aged man stepped forward, his tone cold but formal.

"Anyone entering Heping Town must report their name and identity. Refuse, and you'll be expelled immediately."

He raised his hand, summoning a small bottle of red pills.

"This is not poison. It's a detection pill created by Canaan Academy. Should anyone harbor killing intent, the pill will glow red within their body, alerting the law enforcement team. It's mandatory."

A young enforcer stepped up. "Name and identity?"

Ye Feng said nothing. Instead, Ya Fei stepped forward with calm elegance.

"You're not qualified to know our names. Step aside."

"…What did you say?" the leader's expression darkened.

Immediately, the enforcers formed a circle around the two.

"Those are the rules of Heping Town. If you won't comply, you're not welcome here," the leader warned. "This isn't the lawless Black Corner Region. Recklessness has no place here. You have three seconds. Either register and take the pill—or leave. One… Two…"

"Three."

Ye Feng remained completely still.

"Take them down!" the leader barked.

The enforcers charged forward.

"Fire Phoenix!"

Ya Fei's hands formed a seal, and a brilliant flame burst from her body. The fire-attributed spirit energy surged forth, condensing into a majestic phoenix wreathed in crimson flames. The phoenix flapped its wings, lifelike and roaring with heat, slamming into the enforcers and sending them flying backward in a fiery arc.

"You dare attack in Heping Town?!" the middle-aged man yelled as he fell to the ground, covered in burns. "Stay right there if you've got the guts!"

"Alright," Ye Feng replied indifferently.

He waved his hand, and a table and chair floated from a nearby restaurant. Sitting down casually, he ordered a bowl of mixed noodles and began eating right there at the town's entrance.

As he was halfway through the bowl, a tall figure appeared, accompanied by the injured officer from earlier.

"Senior brother, that's him!" the officer pointed angrily.

"A Five-Star Grandmaster," Ye Feng muttered. Then he glanced at Ya Fei. "Want me to handle it?"

"No need," Ya Fei said with a confident smile. "He may be one star higher, but I can defeat him in three moves."

The newcomer was no ordinary opponent—Wu Hao, adopted son of Wu Tianlang, the law enforcement team's leader. He was known across the region as Blood Sword Wu Hao, always identifiable by the blood-red sword strapped to his back.

"Three moves? Ha!" Wu Hao sneered. "You'll be dead in one."

"You're overestimating yourself."

Ya Fei's hands moved swiftly, summoning flames that surrounded her in blazing armor.

The moment fighting spirit turns to armor—it meant stepping into the ranks of a true Grandmaster.

Since being transformed by Ye Feng, Ya Fei had awakened a Fire Spirit Body, one of the most powerful constitutions beneath the Ten Great Sacred Bodies. In just a few months, she had broken through from Dou Master to a Four-Star Dou Grandmaster.

This journey was part of Ye Feng's plan—to further refine her strength.

"Phoenix Strike!"

Ya Fei's fighting spirit roared to life as a towering fire phoenix materialized and shot forward. The sky lit up with flames as the phoenix shrieked, wings outstretched, crashing into Wu Hao.

The impact was devastating.

Flames surged everywhere, igniting buildings on both sides of the street. The temperature skyrocketed as the firestorm consumed everything in its path.

Wu Hao screamed from within the flames. Moments later, a charred figure burst out of the inferno—his robes scorched, his hair gone, and his skin blackened and blistered. With a final cry, he collapsed to the ground, dead.

Blood Sword Wu Hao—slain.

Silence fell over the town's entrance.

Ya Fei lowered her hands slowly, her fiery aura dimming.

Not a single person dared to speak.
