Chapter 174: Chapter 173: Ning Rongrong's Teasing, Xiao Wu Refuses to Back Down!
"You got the Eight Spider Lances by absorbing the Man-Faced Demon Spider, which was way above your level. Do you even realize what kind of soul beast that is? Absorbing beyond your limits, and now you're getting cocky? At the end of the day, it's just because your strength isn't enough!"
"And Master—let's talk about him. He's been stuck at Rank 29 forever and hasn't made any progress. If it had been Teacher Zhao or the Dean closest to you earlier, do you think they'd have failed to dodge?"
"Master's always preaching that 'there are no useless spirits, only useless spirit masters,' but he can't even live up to his own words! He says this stuff all the time—does he think Brother Su Ming and I are idiots?"
"If that saying were true, wouldn't the most useless person of all be him?"
The others stood frozen, stunned into silence as Xiao Wu unleashed a tirade at Tang San. It felt eerily similar to the time Ning Rongrong had scolded Dai Mubai.
Su Ming, however, wasn't surprised. After all, Xiao Wu had always been a bossy figure back in the Star Dou Forest, and even at Notting Academy, she had a take-charge attitude.
He figured that when Master made her fight three-on-one earlier, Xiao Wu had silently accepted it, possibly intending to use it as a chance to vent her frustrations on Tang San. But even so, there must still be some anger simmering inside her.
After all, apart from his so-called theories, what did Master really bring to the table? And why should he have the right to lecture others? Because of the theories he plagiarized from Spirit Hall?
Over the past six years, Xiao Wu had seen firsthand that some of the theories Master published were flat-out wrong—or at least incomplete.
Combined with her frequent exposure to Yu Xiaogang's arrogance during her time at Notting Academy, Xiao Wu had long grown sick of him.
Now, with Tang San and the others blaming her for the earlier incident—claiming it was her injuring Tang San that caused his spirit power to go out of control—Xiao Wu had reached her limit. She was in full-on rage mode, determined to vent her anger.
If the timing had been more appropriate, Su Ming was sure Xiao Wu would've given Tang San another thrashing—and possibly included Dai Mubai for good measure.
Tang San fell silent. Deep down, he knew Xiao Wu wasn't wrong. Everything that happened was ultimately his fault for showing off—and his teacher's fault for being too weak to dodge the Eight Spider Lances. Everyone else had managed to get out of the way just fine.
Sensing the escalating tension, Zhao Wuji intervened, his voice booming. "What are you all standing around for? Go back and train!"
"You're all so full of energy now? Just wait until tomorrow—you'll regret it!"
With that, Zhao Wuji walked off without looking back.
Su Ming didn't bother paying attention to what Tang San thought. Taking Xiao Wu's hand, he led her away. Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing followed close behind.
Back at the dormitory, Su Ming immediately summoned his diary. Today had been… exhilarating. Ahem, tragic. He had to document it thoroughly!
[Diary Entry]
[Today, Yu Xiaogang showed up at Shrek Academy. As expected, he initiated a group combat drill, just like in the original story.]
The girls eagerly gathered around the diary as it updated, especially Bibi Dong and Liu Erlong, whose attention was glued to the contents.
After reading Su Ming's diary for six years, Bibi Dong and Liu Erlong had come to truly understand the kind of person Yu Xiaogang was. Any lingering feelings they'd had for him were long gone. They were no longer blinded by infatuation, convinced that Yu Xiaogang was their one and only.
While their feelings for him had changed, they still paid attention to anything related to him—but now, it was out of curiosity, wanting to see what new embarrassing tidbits Su Ming might reveal about him.
[This group combat drill wasn't a surprise. What did catch me off guard was Yu Xiaogang's decision to exclude me from the drill, all to elevate Tang San's status as a control-type spirit master.]
[His reasoning? He claimed he already knew me too well and that my strength was too overwhelming, making me unnecessary for this kind of exercise. But let's be real—it's because he didn't want me overshadowing Tang San.]
[Honestly, I wasn't that interested in the drill anyway. I'd rather spend the time cuddling with Xiao Wu—perfect timing to test out the system's Golden Knight upgrade, too!]
The diary had been relatively serious until now, but suddenly the tone shifted—cuddling with Xiao Wu? Golden Knight upgrade?
The girls reading the diary all wore peculiar expressions. What on earth was this? Xiao Wu was probably dying of embarrassment by now.
Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing, who were in the dormitory, glanced at Xiao Wu, whose face was practically steaming.
Xiao Wu's face was so red it seemed like it might start bleeding. She muttered under her breath, "Stupid Brother Su Ming! Why would you write something like that in the diary? Are you trying to embarrass me on purpose?"
She was mortified. Early on, when Su Ming had first received the diary, he'd written affectionate things like calling her his wife. But after those initial days, his tone had grown more serious, with little to no flirtation.
Now, just a few years later, he was back at it!
Ning Rongrong, brimming with excitement, teased, "Xiao Wu, how about Zhuqing and I help you find a chance to be alone with Su Ming? You can, you know, test out that Golden Knight thing."
"Even though you two haven't gone public yet, you're clearly a couple. You must want some alone time, right? I bet you're secretly looking forward to it, even if you won't admit it!"
"Aah! Rongrong, stop it! Aren't you embarrassed saying stuff like that? You're completely wrong—I don't want that at all!"
Flustered, Xiao Wu couldn't take it anymore. Rongrong's mischievous personality had clearly gone astray—how had she become so shameless?
Even Zhu Zhuqing couldn't help blushing slightly. Since when had Ning Rongrong become so bold?
Xiao Wu, at her wit's end, glared at Ning Rongrong in mock-threat. "Rongrong, if you keep this up, I'll turn the tables and tease you instead! Don't think I don't know—you've got feelings for Brother Su Ming, too. Let's see how smug you are when he sweeps you off your feet!"
Ning Rongrong's lips curled into a faint smirk. "Hmph, we'll see about that. Think it'll be that easy to win me over? I'm not as easy to push over as you are—"
Unfazed, Xiao Wu retorted, "Brother Su Ming already said it—you're the classic 'rich, pretty, and easy-to-fall-for' type. Didn't you fall for Tang San in the original timeline after he gave you that immortal herb? Hmph!"
