Douluo: My Clone Is Groudon

Chapter 74: Chapter 74: The Ingenious Use of Points, and the Human-Faced Demon Spider Mega Evolution Device

"Finally, the most crucial part is the soul-guide tool itself, as well as the soul engineer who can turn this idea into reality."

Gu La paused, blinking his eyes. It seemed a bit difficult.

If he still had the opportunity to study soul-guide tools thousands of years later, would he travel to the Sun Moon Continent to learn? He couldn't do that now.

He turned to Tang San: "Xiao San, are you interested in soul-guide tools?"

Big Brother wants to send you abroad for studies.

Tang San touched the "Twenty-Four Bridges Under the Bright Moon" on his waist, his expression stunned. "Soul-guide tools are very convenient to use. Is there something deeper behind them?"

In the blink of an eye, Gu La fabricated a lie: "As you know, my inheritance comes from another continent where soul-guide tools haven't been lost. There, soul masters can also become soul engineers and create ingenious soul-guide devices."

"It's similar to your hidden weapons, except they use soul power as their energy source."

Tang San's expression changed, becoming solemn. If it was like his hidden weapons, couldn't they be combined with them? He wondered what kind of power that would unleash.

Xiao Wu interrupted his daydream: "Weren't we talking about the Dragon Transformation Technique? How did we get onto soul-guide tools?"

When Gu La was deep in thought, he didn't want to talk to Xiao Wu, whose mind was often empty. He popped an energy cube into his mouth to refuel his brain, which sparked a new idea.

"Soul-guide tools ultimately rely on soul-guide arrays to unlock the potential of rare metals. Without rare metals, even if one has soul power, soul-guide tools could only develop to levels three or four at most."

"So, could there be a type of metal that resonates with various bloodlines or serves to preserve and connect them?"

Gu La's eyes lit up: "If not, we could assign different metals to different species, just like the modules."

Deciding to act immediately, Gu La went to the blacksmith shop and purchased several common rare metals. Since soul-guide tools were lost to history, these metals were only two to three times more expensive than ordinary metals due to their rarity, typically used to craft tableware and decorations for nobility.

He bought three types of metals: Mithril, Black Iron, and Black Patterned Steel.

Mithril had a silvery-white luster, moderate hardness, and good elemental conductivity in Gu La's memory, making it a commonly used mid-tier rare metal.

Thus, he decided to experiment with Mithril first.

With Groudon's martial soul activated, Gu La released molten lava from his hands to heat and soften the Mithril.

He looked up at Tang San.

"Xiao San, it's your turn. Help me purify the impurities from the Mithril and forge it into a disc half the size of a palm. Make sure to leave three internal holes—I'll need them."

Gu La had no interest in wielding hammers himself and certainly wasn't going to do the forging. He handed the task over to Tang San with detailed instructions.

Seeing Gu La so serious for the first time, Tang San nodded earnestly: "I understand. Leave it to me—you can trust me."

Confident in his family's traditional craftsmanship, Tang San took out his usual forging tools and began working on the Mithril on an anvil.

While immobility was a disadvantage of the Chaotic Wind Splitting Hammer Technique in battle, it was irrelevant in forging.

Tang San swung his hammer continuously, shaping the Mithril on the anvil. Impurities were gradually expelled, and the Mithril began to shine, almost as if it were breathing in rhythm with the hammer strikes.

Gu La wasn't idle either. He took out a five-thousand-year-old Human-Faced Demon Spider soul bone and used points in the system to exchange for a high-powered laser cutter.

Even soul bones that Title Douluos found hard to damage were as fragile as ordinary bones under the high-powered laser. A small piece of the soul bone was cut off.

Suppressing his heartache, Gu La spent more points to exchange for a machine capable of reviving fossil Pokémon.

A complete fossil revival machine consisted of many instruments, ranging from activating genes to filling energy and stabilizing the Pokémon's state—there were dozens of types.

Gu La didn't need all of them; he only required the instrument to activate the genetic activity within the bones.

Even so, nearly half of Gu La's points were spent. These scientific instruments were far more expensive than any weapon.

With a flick of his hand, the small piece of soul bone disappeared and reappeared.

The once gray and lifeless soul bone now exuded vitality, resembling an incomplete life form. With just a bit of energy and material, it could potentially revive into a complete Human-Faced Demon Spider.

Not stopping, Gu La switched to his Celebi martial soul, outputting attributeless soul power, and used psychic abilities to bind it into a milky-white sphere.

"That's done. Big Brother, see if this works."

Tang San quickly finished crafting the "soul-guide tool shell".

Gu La took the shell and inspected it: "Good. Just as I described."

He wasted no time; the activated gene-laden soul bone couldn't remain outside for too long.

He placed the soul bone and energy sphere inside, exchanged for a small stone containing mega evolution energy, and used wave-guidance power to sense the wave connection between the four elements, activating their link.

With this connection, the Human-Faced Demon Spider soul bone formed a symbiotic relationship with the soul power cluster and the metallic shell, preventing energy leakage. By replacing the shell in time, it could be preserved until the soul bone shattered.

Perhaps there were better methods, but for now, this was the limit of what Gu La could achieve with his full effort.

"Next is positioning. The Human-Faced Demon Spider should be categorized as a balanced-type spirit beast. Adjusting gene expression has already been done during the gene activation phase. From now on, it's up to the soul master to figure it out."

Gu La pondered whether anything was overlooked. Feeling satisfied, he began encapsulating the "soul-guide tool," or rather, the Human-Faced Demon Spider Mega Evolution Device.

It was soon encapsulated without any explosions.

Gu La raised the evolution device triumphantly and cheered:

"Success!"

Tang San and the others watched in confusion, asking: "Big Brother, what exactly have you been doing?"

Gu La smiled mysteriously, "You'll find out soon."

"By the way, are there any students in the academy whose martial souls are spiders? Even external soul masters below Soul King level will do."

Aside from Gu La and Xiao Wu, Tang San usually kept to himself and had no other friends. He shook his head and looked at Xiao Wu, who liked to parade around with her followers and surely knew.

Gu La also looked at Xiao Wu.

Xiao Wu scratched her chin and blinked innocently, "Why are you looking at me?"

She guiltily turned her head toward Zhu Zhuqing.

Zhu Zhuqing looked innocent: "I just arrived; I'm not familiar with people yet."

Gu La was speechless. He had created the device, but now he couldn't find a soul master to test it. Were they messing with him?

"Forget it. I can't count on you guys."

Gu La calmed down. The effect of the evolution device needed testing, but he didn't want outsiders to know. Unfortunately, he didn't have a trustworthy soul master.

He silently cursed himself for his oversight. He should have crafted the evolution device based on the martial souls of the four of them. He guessed that among the soul bones Xiao Wu gave him, there must be at least one or two feline soul bones, perfect for creating an evolution device for Zhu Zhuqing, whose bloodline was the simplest to work with.

But now that the evolution device was complete, it was too late to regret. However, without a suitable soul master to test it, Gu La felt stuck.
