Chapter 123: Monster Academy’s Entrance Exam
After a long journey, Lin Feng and his group finally arrived at Yuhuo City.
"This place is way more prosperous than I imagined!"
The moment they stepped into the city, Shi Mo and the others were stunned. Their eyes widened as they murmured in awe.
The streets bustled with activity—carriages rolled past, people flowed endlessly, and the rows of shops along both sides shouted out prices and deals in a lively chorus.
As they headed toward Monster Academy, they spotted a massive crowd already gathered outside its gates.
Most of them were parents with their children, engaged in animated discussion.
"I heard Monster Academy was founded by Poison Douluo Dugu Bo. With a name like that behind it, I had to bring my kid to try out."
"Exactly! If they get in, their future is practically guaranteed."
Conversations like these could be heard throughout the crowd.
Clearly, many had traveled great distances after hearing of Poison Douluo's legendary reputation.
Just then, Liu Erlong appeared with four youths, heading straight for Lin Feng.
"These children are from our academy. They meet the entrance requirements," she said steadily as she approached.
Lin Feng gave a slight nod and glanced over the trait panels of the four students.
When his eyes landed on Jiang Zhu, he paused thoughtfully.
Wasn't Jiang Zhu a future member of Shrek Academy's preparatory team?
And a rare healing-type Soul Master at that.
Unfortunately, the academy already had Ye Lingling—another top-tier healer. There might not be a place for Jiang Zhu now.
As for the other three, each had an innate soul power of Rank 7.
Lin Feng casually refreshed their trait panels—none of them upgraded in rarity.
"So these are Monster Academy's students? They don't seem all that different from us," murmured one of the Blue Tyrant Academy students, eyeing Shi Mo and the others with curiosity.
"Come on. Let's go in," Lin Feng said casually, choosing to ignore the comment.
Together, they walked toward the academy gates.
"They're going in? Are they students here?"
"What luck—to be taught by a Titled Douluo!"
The crowd murmured with surprise as they watched the group disappear inside, eyes full of envy.
Inside the academy, they headed straight to the training grounds—and what the newcomers saw shocked them.
They had assumed the students they saw at the gate were the entirety of the student body. But now they found nine others already immersed in training.
Shi Mo and the others behind Lin Feng were visibly excited, eyes gleaming, eager to spar with these future teammates.
After all, these were the very "monsters" the young master had spoken of—their talent had to be exceptional.
"Young Master."
Lin Long came forward at once and greeted Lin Feng respectfully.
"These are new students who just joined," Lin Feng introduced, motioning toward Shi Mo's group.
The three original Shrek students looked surprised.
They knew more students would join eventually, but they didn't expect so many all at once. They couldn't help but marvel—there were truly so many geniuses in this world.
Lin Jian and his two companions, however, remained expressionless, though a quiet confidence shimmered in their eyes.
Suddenly, a figure streaked down from the sky—it was Flender.
"Young Master, the entrance exam is fully prepared," he said as he landed before Lin Feng and bowed.
"Perfect timing," Lin Feng replied with a smile. "Let's begin."
The group returned to the front gates of the academy, where a figure began to emerge from the air—it was Poison Douluo Dugu Bo.
"Wow, that's Poison Douluo?!"
"He looks younger than I expected… still has black hair!"
"This is my first time seeing a Titled Douluo in person!"
"Hey, move aside! Let me get a look!"
The crowd craned their necks for a glimpse, eager to see the legendary figure with their own eyes.
"Ahem."
"Today, the entrance exam for Monster Academy officially begins," Dugu Bo announced. His voice was deep yet clear, and it rang across the entire field like a thunderclap.
"Alright!"
Though brief, his words struck the crowd like a hammer—cheers erupted in response.
Just then, a formation of guards split the crowd down the middle.
"Prince Xue Xing has arrived!"
An audible ripple of surprise swept through the spectators.
"Monster Academy… has such high prestige already?"
"Even Prince Xue Xing showed up?"
"You didn't know? Senior Dugu is a guest elder of the Heaven Dou royal family."
"With him as headmaster, of course the prince would come offer congratulations."
The sound of heavy boots approached as Prince Xue Xing strode quickly through the parted crowd and came before Dugu Bo.
"Congratulations, Senior Dugu, on becoming the headmaster of Monster Academy!"
"I brought a small gift to celebrate the occasion."
"Bring it forward."
Behind him, his servants quickly stepped up and arranged four large chests filled with glittering gold, silver, and jewels.
"There was no need for this," Dugu Bo said with a faint scowl.
"Haha, how could I come empty-handed?" Xue Xing laughed.
"Please, don't let me interrupt. Carry on with your work."
"This way, Your Highness," Dugu Bo said with a bow, then glanced meaningfully at Lin Feng.
Lin Feng turned toward Zhao Wuji.
With his usual imposing stride, the burly man stepped forward and bellowed:
"Monster Academy's first entrance exam begins now!"
"Listen up—there are two types of assessments."
"First is innate talent. If your innate soul power is Rank 7 or higher, and your cultivation speed matches your potential, you'll advance to the second round."
"The second type—if you have any unique or abnormal traits, and we verify you meet our standards, you may also be accepted."
"What?! Rank 7 innate power as the baseline?!"
"That's crazy—only the children of major clans are born with that kind of soul power!"
The crowd buzzed with hushed whispers.
"What do you mean by 'abnormal traits'?"
Someone couldn't help but shout the question.
Zhao Wuji turned to look at Lin Feng.
"'Abnormal traits' means anything that sets you apart from ordinary people," Lin Feng explained, stepping forward with a serious expression.
"For example, maybe you never need to sleep. While others can only cultivate during the day, you can do it day and night without rest. Even if your soul power is slightly lower, we'd still accept you."
"Or, if your martial soul has undergone a mutation—even if it has some drawbacks, as long as it's fundamentally different from ordinary spirits, and offers a unique edge, you may still qualify."
