Douluo: Starting with an Engagement to Zhu Zhuqing

Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Deprivation of the Soul Bone

Chapter 64: Deprivation of the Soul Bone

"To think that my Soul Bone skill was blocked!"

Upon seeing his Dark Night Stab being blocked by Dai Yao, Zhu Tao froze, his eyes wide with disbelief.

He was a Soul Sect! Furthermore, he had just used a Soul Bone skill, one that even strong攻系 battle soul masters of the same rank would fear.

He had defeated countless strong opponents in the elite tournament for high-level soul masters across the continent using this very skill.

Yet now, this powerful soul skill had been blocked by a Great Soul Master.

"What kind of monster is he?"

Zhu Tao felt deep regret, regretting accepting the Empress's command.

Not only was Dai Yao a Dual Spirit Master, but even as a Great Soul Master, he had blocked the attack of a Soul Sect. His talent was beyond rare!

Now, there was no choice but to kill Dai Yao.

He coldly stared at Dai Yao, then spoke with regret, "Your Highness, to think you've been hiding the secret of your Dual Spirits. Too bad, this secret will be buried forever!"

"Hmm?" Hearing this, Dai Yao realized that the person before him was not a professional assassin.

Professional killers usually remain silent during missions, they are cold, emotionless killing machines only focused on completing their task.

But this person was speaking while trying to kill him—this was not like a professional assassin at all.

"Oh? Since I'm already dead, would you kindly tell me who exactly wants me dead, and let me die with some clarity?" Dai Yao asked, though he did not let down his guard.

His soul power was already surging within his second spirit ring, ready to unleash his second soul skill at any sign of danger.

At the same time, he was trying to buy time.

The academy had night watchmen specifically tasked with protecting its safety. Perhaps they had already noticed the disturbance. If he could just stall for a little longer, there might still be a chance for survival.

"Hmph—if you want to know, then fine..." Zhu Tao sneered, but in his eyes, Dai Yao was already a dead man.

He didn't believe that Dai Yao could continuously use the defensive soul skill that had just blocked the attack. Powerful soul skills required more soul power, and for a Great Soul Master to block an attack from a Soul Sect—this was undoubtedly a top-tier soul skill.

His soul power must be nearly depleted by now.

Hearing that Zhu Tao was about to reveal the mastermind behind this assassination, Dai Yao felt excited, but he kept his expression neutral.

"The one who wants you dead is..."

Just as Zhu Tao was about to speak, a flash of light suddenly appeared in the sky in the distance, followed by an overwhelming surge of soul power rushing toward the cabin.

It was the academy's night watchmen, arriving at full speed.

"Damn it, you're trying to buy time!" Zhu Tao immediately understood Dai Yao's intentions, his rage erupting.

"Today, you will die for sure! You will die a confused ghost!"

With that, Zhu Tao unleashed his soul power, his fourth purple soul ring shining. The immense pressure from his soul skills made it difficult for Dai Yao to breathe.

"Just a little more!" Dai Yao thought to himself, regretting the timing of the night watchmen's arrival.

If they had arrived just a few seconds later, he would have found out who the true mastermind was.

Seeing Zhu Tao use his soul skill, Dai Yao was not scared, but rather pleased.

A true assassin, when their initial strike fails and their identity is exposed, would usually escape to look for another opportunity to strike.

But Zhu Tao was not running away, he was doubling down on his efforts to kill him. This behavior was completely unlike that of a professional killer.

Zhu Tao's actions confirmed Dai Yao's suspicions.

If this had been a professional assassin, Dai Yao would have been in trouble.

Because now that Zhu Tao knew about his dual spirits, if he chose to leave, Dai Yao's secret would be exposed, bringing an endless stream of trouble.

Now, Dai Yao had the ability to kill this person. Even if he suffered some injuries, he had to ensure Zhu Tao stayed here.

Even if injured, he could recover through the Qinglian.

Without time to think further, Dai Yao's soul power surged, and the first purple soul ring on the Qinglian flickered.

"First Soul Skill: Godslayer Spear!"

The Qinglian in his hand rapidly expanded. The roots transformed into a spear shaft, while the lotus and leaves folded together to form the spear tip. Once the Qinglian became a spear, it took on a very ancient appearance.

Even the color of the spear tip made from the lotus petals and leaves was much darker, completely different from the fresh, vibrant look of the Qinglian.

When Zhu Tao saw Dai Yao activate his first soul skill, he burst into laughter.

"Still resisting? You think your first soul skill can block my fourth soul skill? Ridiculous!"

Dai Yao was not affected by Zhu Tao's mocking words. Gripping the Godslayer Spear, he entered a strange and wondrous state.

It felt like the object in his hand was not a spear, but a set of rules.

The rules of deconstruction.

Like the GM in a video game, with a mere thought, he could destroy everything before him, even create or obliterate worlds.

Of course, the effect of the Godslayer Spear was not that extreme.

In his eyes, Zhu Tao now seemed like an energy entity, a humanoid shape made up of blue light spots.

But his left arm was different. It was black.

Upon closer inspection, he noticed that the left arm was a mixture of blue and black light spots, with the black being more prominent, giving the impression of a black arm.

"What is that thing on his left arm?" Dai Yao wondered.

He infused his soul power into the Godslayer Spear, activating the deconstructive rules.

The blue energy body in front of him began to slowly disintegrate, with the black light spot on the left arm breaking apart the fastest.

As the Godslayer Spear activated, Dai Yao's soul power decreased visibly.

Zhu Tao, still activating his soul skill, suddenly stopped, clutching his left arm in pain, letting out a scream.

He realized that his Soul Bone was being torn from his body!

"What kind of soul skill is this?!" he screamed, rolling on the ground in agony. His teeth ground together, and every breath felt like his entire body was being pulled apart.

The black light spot separated first, creating a large hole in his left arm, flesh and blood in disarray.

A black, shiny Soul Bone dropped to the ground with a sharp, clear sound.

"Die!" Dai Yao spoke no more words. He quickly closed the distance and thrust the Godslayer Spear into Zhu Tao's body.

It was not stopped in the slightest, as though piercing through a thin sheet of paper.

In a flash, Dai Yao had turned the tables.

Zhu Tao looked dazedly at the long spear lodged in his chest. He felt a force inside him tearing apart everything.

His gaze followed the spear and focused on the person holding it, finally locking onto his face.

Now, he was filled with regret.

He had had a bright future ahead of him. He was a member of the Star Luo Royal Academy's battle team, a talented soul master destined to become a legend of the Star Luo Empire.

Now, he was about to die, and all his dreams were gone.

The bitterness and regret overflowed in his chest—he hated himself for agreeing to the Empress's request!

Moments later, Zhu Tao's body began to disintegrate, his eyes, mouth, nose, and even his blood and flesh turning to dust, scattered in the air.

Dai Yao, panting heavily, felt completely drained, as though he had just been pulled out of the water.

The Godslayer Spear, which had only appeared for a few breaths, had drained all his soul power.

But compared to surviving, this price was nothing.
