Chapter 219: Chapter 219: Preview of the Tournament of Power!

Chapter 219: Preview of the Tournament of Power!

The Grand Priest glanced at everyone, his expression as indifferent as ever, showing no sign of change.

"Lord Zeno has instructed me to inform you that, in order to lend a sense of formality to the upcoming Martial Arts Tournament, we will first hold a preview match to give all the universes a chance to warm up," he announced.

"But unlike the official tournament, this preview match will not carry any penalties for the losers. However, all participants are expected to go all out."

"Each universe is to select three representatives."

The Grand Priest spoke coldly, as if devoid of any empathy. His words instantly heightened the tension among those present—no one had expected a preview match before the tournament had even begun.

Even though there would be no penalties for the losers, who could say there wouldn't be any additional consequences? Besides, nobody wanted to lose—especially not to the champions of other universes.

Of course, if there was a silver lining, it would be the opportunity to get a first look at the real strength of the other universes.

To know one's enemy as oneself is the only path to victory in every battle.

Any lack of knowledge about the opponent could easily lead to defeat.

Hearing the Grand Priest's words, Beerus said with a touch of anxiety, "Understood, Grand Priest. We'll get ready right away!"

"Once you've selected your representatives, depart immediately. Other universes are already preparing, and I will notify any that have not yet been informed."

"Take this preview match seriously, as it will be followed by the official Martial Arts Tournament," the Grand Priest continued. "Lord Zeno calls it the Tournament of Power!"

With those words, the Grand Priest disappeared without further notice, moving as if he were one with the shadows, his presence cold and emotionless. It was as if he possessed no feeling at all.

Yet, nobody dared to voice any complaints. After all, the Grand Priest was, next to Zeno, the most powerful entity present—who would dare grumble?

Even Beerus and Whis kept silent. The rest of the group wouldn't dare to make a sound either, simply watching as the Grand Priest vanished from their sight.

A moment passed.

Only then did they feel free to breathe deeply.

"Such immense power... it's overwhelming!"

"It feels like if the Grand Priest had stayed a little longer, we would have been gasping for air."

"Yes… his aura is entirely different from that of Lord Beerus. His gaze seemed to look right past us, as if we didn't matter at all. True indifference!"

At that point, everyone was panting heavily.

None of them had dared utter a word while the Grand Priest was there; it was only after his departure that they allowed themselves to relax a bit.

Even Beerus and Whis, usually composed, let out a sigh of relief.

Mu Chuan, however, seemed relatively calm, understanding that as long as they didn't offend the Grand Priest, they were unlikely to face any consequences.

Nonetheless, the experience of facing the Grand Priest directly had burdened him with a pressure unlike any he had felt before—a truly intense force, utterly different from the pressure of standing before Whis or Beerus.

After taking a moment to gather his thoughts, Beerus scanned the group with a scowl, saying, "Of course, the Grand Priest's pressure is immense. Don't go around comparing a Destroyer to him; it's pointless."

"The Grand Priest is the leader of all Angels and serves directly under Lord Zeno. In all the universes, he stands at the very top in power."

"With just one finger, he could wipe out all the Destroyers. Just thinking about the Grand Priest's true strength leaves me in awe."

"And don't speak about the Grand Priest casually. If he hears, we'll be truly doomed."

With these words, everyone fell into stunned silence.

They had sensed the Grand Priest's terrifying power, but they had never imagined he would rank at the top in all the universes.

How truly terrifying must he be?

For a moment, everyone was in shock.

They had also learned one thing: the Grand Priest was indeed the leader of all Angels.

They glanced at Whis, sensing his own unfathomable power. Although it was usually Beerus who took action, Whis rarely fought, and when he did, battles ended swiftly—too fast for anyone to gauge his strength.

As strong as Whis was, he was still subordinate to the Grand Priest. This thought alone revealed the sheer terror of the Grand Priest's battle capabilities and broadened everyone's perspective.

The group silently absorbed the new information.

Meanwhile, Beerus fell into contemplation, realizing he had to select three individuals for the preview match. With the match approaching, there was little time.

"Who should I choose? Do I need to call in that guy Frieza?"

Beerus weighed his options, knowing there were only three spots. If he chose too weakly, they'd be swallowed by other universes; but if he revealed too much of his strength now, the others would be able to analyze his strategy. Losing in the official Tournament of Power would be a true disaster.

The thought made his decision all the more challenging.

Mu Chuan, sensing Beerus's dilemma, suggested calmly, "Let us participate in this preview match. Several of the others have now mastered Super Saiyan Four. Though not overwhelmingly powerful, they're decent enough."

"This preview match could help them fully control their power."

"Besides, we can observe the strengths of the other universes. If things go south, I'll cover for us."

Mu Chuan's suggestion resonated with Beerus. While they might face formidable opponents, losing wouldn't carry significant penalties. It could be used as a training exercise while gathering valuable insights on the other universes' power levels. Knowing the opponent's strength was key to victory; lacking this knowledge would pose real risks.

Persuaded by Mu Chuan's argument, Beerus nodded. "Let's go with that. Besides you, pick two other Saiyans for the team."

"This match is your chance to train hard and fully harness your strength. Don't mess this up."

With Beerus's decision, the lineup for the preview match was confirmed.

Of course, the specific participants were still under consideration, but the two other slots would be filled by the most capable Super Saiyan Four candidates. Though it was a practice match, they couldn't afford to be too weak.

After the selection, everyone joined hands, as Whis prepared to transport them to the preview match's location. Many were going just to observe, to experience the spectacle firsthand.
