Chapter 361: Chapter 361: Taming the Ape
"Ah, amazing…"
"After transforming…"
Taro explained all the essential points about the Saiyan Ozaru transformation to Goku, one by one. The young Goku memorized everything carefully.
At last, Taro said the transformation could begin.
"Remember this well—don't let the primal emotions that surge through your blood take control. You must hold on to your true self and resist the instincts of the beast…" Taro warned.
"Huh? But there's no full moon right now… Master, can you make that light orb thing?" Goku asked curiously.
"Yes," Taro smiled, his voice deep and absorbing like a black hole, pulling in one's consciousness. He raised a finger and pointed it just in front of Goku's eyes. "The full moon… is right here."
Goku immediately fell silent. His gaze locked onto Taro's finger, which was placed at the center of his brow. He stared at the fingertip as the swirling, rotating lines of Taro's fingerprint began to shift and change, forming the pitted, cratered patterns of the moon's surface. Eventually, a bright full moon rose in Goku's mind.
Goku's chest trembled suddenly, and his heartbeat grew fierce and powerful.
"Rooooooar…"
He growled lowly, his eyes glowing red, and began his transformation into a Ozaru…
---
Krillin was drenched in sweat as he trained hard, when the ground suddenly began to tremble slightly. Then came a roar from the distance that pierced the sky—boom, roar! Krillin turned his head toward the sound and saw, in the direction of the wooded ring-island far off on the horizon, a plume of smoke and dust rising. A massive black silhouette rapidly expanded and rose into the air…
"A transformation without the full moon?" Krillin muttered, mouth agape. "Well, if it's Master, nothing is surprising, hmm…" Then he looked a bit worried. "Can Goku really stay conscious in that state? Ugh…"
In his mind, he imagined a strange scene—himself sitting side by side with a massive black gorilla, chatting and laughing casually…
Something about that just felt off…
---
Halfway up the mountain, Hathaway stepped out of the house, her hair fluttering in the wind. She gazed into the distance and recognized the area where the disturbance was coming from—it was the former training site of Fabeli.
"What's going on?" she asked casually.
"It's Son Goku… Mr. Taro is trying to train him to remain conscious after transforming into a Ozaru," Jarvis's voice responded.
"Ah, I see… Well then… Jarvis, let me take a look." Hathaway brushed her hair back. As soon as she spoke, a translucent screen of air appeared before her eyes. Under Jarvis's control, the screen's image was perfectly clear, unaffected by the outdoor lighting.
Displayed on the screen was a clearing in the woods, where a massive black ape pounded its chest and roared. A man with gray-white hair stood at the ape's feet. The contrast between their sizes made him appear "tiny," as though the Ozaru could crush him into a smear of flesh with a single misstep. The man was gazing up at the frenzied ape, then suddenly turned to glance in the direction of the "camera."
Hathaway smiled, realizing her husband had sensed her "peeking."
[You keep an eye on him too.]
Taro's lips moved in the image—it was lip-reading.
Hathaway nodded with a grin. She reached into the screen and pulled the image out, then swiped the air-screen frame aside and tossed it away. Instantly, the image transformed into a 3D hologram suspended in the air.
With a flick of her fingers, the holographic image rotated, changing the angle from behind Taro to the side blocked by the ape.
"Jarvis, turn the volume up a bit…"
Hathaway manipulated the image with both hands, zooming in by spreading her fingers. The focus centered on the Ozaru's head. She squinted and closely examined Goku's red eyes after the transformation… Within those eyes, she sensed a powerful and brutal rage that made her extremely uncomfortable.
Just like twelve years ago, when Kakarot first arrived on Earth, the aura he gave off made her uneasy.
"So… where is the 'you' now… Son Goku, Kakarot…" Hathaway whispered, trying to find a trace of reason within the madness of those blood-red eyes. Then, with her sharp intuition, she suddenly noticed something strange. She zoomed in even further on the Ozaru's eyes and murmured, "No… something's not right, this looks like…"
---
"Even though I warned him plenty of times, the moment he transformed, the kid still lost his mind instantly..." Taro shook his head, gazing up at the frenzied, rampaging Ozaru. Suddenly, the giant ape's foot came crashing down toward him, a forceful and furious stomp.
Taro's expression didn't change. A lock of hair over his forehead fluttered slightly.
Boom!
Before the ape's foot could even touch him, its massive body was suddenly tripped up by an unseen force, spinning violently through the air before crashing to the ground with a thunderous roar.
Taro took a step forward, seeming to shrink the distance underfoot, and appeared right in front of the fallen ape's massive head.
"Rrgh..."
The Ozaru growled lowly, sensing Taro's approach. Its blood-red eyes—each one larger than half of Taro's entire body—gleamed with a savage and frenzied light, utterly devoid of reason. Seeing this, Taro recalled that brief moment outside the Zoushuifan Castle, when the ape had reluctantly uttered half a sentence to him. He snorted coldly and said:
"Get back inside. Don't make a mess of things."
The ape shuddered. In what should've been completely irrational eyes, a flash of confusion flickered for just an instant. Its gaping maw began to gather a ball of light, and at the same time, its tail tore through the air, whipping toward Taro.
So, you're counting on me not cutting off your tail, huh… Taro thought to himself. Behind him, a white aura flared and coiled into the shape of a massive claw. With a sharp smack, it grabbed the incoming tail mid-strike.
You think I can't beat the crap out of you without ripping that tail off?
Boom...
The Ozaru was yanked off the ground by the claw clutching its tail. A look of disbelief filled its eyes—because by its reckoning, a force strong enough to lift its current massive body into the air should have also torn its tail clean off. And yet, despite the overwhelming pull, the tail held firm.
Taro's control over his strength had reached the level of the unbelievable.
The ancients spoke of striking a bull through a mountain, crossing rivers on a single reed, sending force through the whole body, of internal and dissolving energies—of all kinds of impossible feats. Taro could now accomplish them all. This wasn't a matter of sheer power level; it was a mystical result of martial mastery honed to the divine. In fact, even if he lost all his ki, his martial comprehension alone would still allow him to crush the vast majority of people on Earth.
But Kakarot had no idea Taro was capable of such techniques. He had assumed that the old man, trying to help Goku master his Ozaru form, wouldn't touch his tail. So he'd tried to take this chance to "test" him. Little did he know, Taro's abilities far exceeded his expectations—the cautious restraint he had banked on simply didn't exist.
