Dragonball Z: Becoming the brother of Goku

Chapter 102: Chapter 98: Learning!

Raditz had followed the guide, flying through the picturesque landscape where mountains met rivers. According to the legends, the master he sought should be far removed from civilization and worldly concerns, living in the solitude of nature, possibly deep within the remote forests of Yardrat.

However, in less than five minutes, Raditz realized he was mistaken.

The master Rep did reside in the mountains, but it was no humble abode tucked away in the wilderness. Instead, it was a sprawling estate that spanned a massive area. Sturdy white stone structures stood like a castle, extending into vast courtyards and sprawling lawns. Even the entrance featured a fountain that was as large as a house.

Raditz landed at the imposing iron gate and used a voice device to announce his arrival.

The gate swung open automatically, and the fountain's appearance began to change, accompanied by melodic music.

"Welcome, Saiyan. As Suma informed me, you can find me on the estate. Even after you complete your training, I will teach you Instant Transmission."

This master also possessed the ability of mental communication, akin to King Kai.

The Yardratians were known for their various superpowers, with Instant Transmission being just one of them. Mental communication was within the realm of possibility as well.

Could this be the third condition that Suma mentioned—the requirement to prove one's talent in mastering the Yardrat techniques? It seemed like Rep was responsible for this test.

"It wasn't difficult to find you!" Raditz replied.

Rep turned slowly, his elderly face wearing a welcoming smile.

Raditz communicated through his thoughts. "I have a basic understanding of sensing ki. I also need your guidance."

Raditz displayed humility and respect, acknowledging the vast knowledge that an elder like Rep must possess.

This humble approach pleased Rep. He gestured to the workers and servants nearby and spoke to Raditz, "Let's put your abilities to the test first. Follow me!"

With a snap of his fingers, they teleported.

Before them lay an enormous labyrinth enclosed by transparent, slightly blue walls. The walls appeared to be made of rippling water, shimmering like silver under the sun. Raditz and Rep stood at the labyrinth's entrance.

Raditz was surprised by Rep's use of teleportation. Usually, pointing one's finger to the forehead aided in focusing and finding a specific ki signature. However, Rep's teleportation didn't require such a gesture.

Normally, pointing the finger at the forehead was helpful for short distances. For instance, Goku used this method when facing Cell, employing Instant Transmission to move between the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and Earth.

However, for longer distances like the ones Raditz had just experienced with Rep, it seemed that such a gesture wasn't necessary.

Raditz contemplated Rep's teleportation technique. While his speed was impressive, it still paled in comparison to the capabilities of Instant Transmission. The Yardrat version of the technique required sensing ki signatures, which made it challenging.

Instant Transmission, as used by Yardrats, was unique. It required detecting and tracking a specific ki signature to teleport to its location. Finding the ki was one thing, but cracking the technique was another matter entirely.

In comparison, King Kai's version of Instant Transmission was more flexible, as he could freely teleport between the Other World and the living world, and to any location he desired within those realms.

As Raditz meditated on these thoughts, Rep suddenly appeared behind him, speaking into his ear, "Impressive. You've already grasped the essence of our teleportation technique. You're learning quickly."

Raditz acknowledged Rep's compliment with a modest nod.

Rep led Raditz to a corner of the labyrinth, where a single individual stood waiting.

Rep's previous assessment wasn't yet complete. The last person, who had eluded Raditz's grasp earlier, now approached, bowing respectfully. "I have fulfilled the mission. With your permission, I'll take my leave."

Rep nodded, allowing the person to go on his way.

With all of Raditz's targets assembled, Rep addressed him. "You've passed the first part of the test. Now, come with me."

Raditz couldn't help but feel amazed by the Yardrat's training methods. Rep's instruction was undoubtedly valuable and would be well worth the cost.

In their white robes, Raditz and Rep walked towards the center of the labyrinth. Raditz was eager to begin his training.

But before they could start, Rep stopped and turned to Raditz. "There's one more thing you need to know. You brought some unique food with you, and the elders have already enjoyed it. I haven't had a chance to taste it yet, you know."

Raditz sighed inwardly. The Yardrats were undoubtedly focused on their cuisine, even during crucial training sessions.

Rep smiled wryly at Raditz's reaction. "Food is also a way to connect with others. It's important to share in the pleasures of life. Don't you agree?"

Raditz nodded, realizing that food could be a bridge to understanding and bonding with the Yardrat culture.

With that settled, Raditz was ready to embark on his journey to master the Instant Transmission technique under Rep's guidance.
