Chapter 5: The Vanishing Wars
The city above slept. But beneath it, war erupted at 320 km/h.
Syndicate Enforcers—three of them—dropped into the chamber like obsidian sharks, their cars cloaked in anti-signal plating and running zero-emission engines. They made no sound. Only the red lights under their tires gave them away.
Marcel's Bloodshift‑activated Skyline growled like it recognized them.
RAVYN: "Threat-class: Omega. Velocity-linked. Drift algorithms adapting per second."
Ayaka spun her Spectra beside him. "They're locked to your neural signature. They'll mirror you. Learn you. Then delete you."
Marcel grinned. "Let's teach them some bad habits."
The hidden chamber exploded open, revealing a tunnel upward—spiraling like a helix, with gravity flickering like a broken god's toy.
Adrian called out over the comms, still trapped in the sealed control room."You have to reach the surface. At the top is a relay—blast it, and it'll crash their control net."
Marcel shifted gears. "Copy that."
He launched first.
Ayaka followed.The Enforcers gave chase.
SECTOR 1: GRAVITY GHOSTS
The spiral ascent was madness. Walls rotated. Floors became ceilings. Marcel's Skyline adapted—Bloodshift syncing to the tunnel's pulse. He felt the grip in his teeth, the RPM in his lungs.
One Enforcer drifted to the left, clipping Marcel's door—like a predator testing a cage.
RAVYN: "They're learning your rhythm. Adjust."
Marcel smiled. "Let's jazz it up."
He performed a chaos drift—switching direction mid-slide, riding a sideways wheel-hop across a floating platform. The Enforcer mirrored it too late.
CRASH.The Enforcer slammed into the wall, flipped vertically, and vanished into smoke.
One down.
SECTOR 2: ECHO-LANE
This part of the tunnel replayed sounds from Marcel's past.
His brother's voice. His first crash. His first win.His father's last words: "Drive until they can't see you anymore."
The voices distracted Ayaka. Her car wobbled. Marcel surged ahead and deployed a wall grind, riding the side with inches of clearance, engine howling like a banshee.
The second Enforcer followed.
Big mistake.
RAVYN: "Deploying sonic trap."
The Skyline ejected a sound-pulse—an echo loop of Ayaka's crash years ago.
The Enforcer hesitated.
And that's all it took.
BOOM.It scraped the wall, spun out, and plummeted.
Two down.
SECTOR 3: THE FRACTURE RIDGE
At the top: a bridge cracked like shattered glass, held together by flickering blue energy.
Marcel's car shuddered as it neared the ledge.
Then—BOOM—the final Enforcer launched from behind, slamming into him.
Marcel fought for control, tires skating on shattered physics.
"Ravyn! Give me something!"
"Permission to override traction safety?"
"DO IT."
Ravyn shut off every safety system. The Skyline became a beast. Marcel rode the edge of physics, tires practically floating on quantum static.
He drifted sideways across air—a 30-meter gap.The Enforcer followed—
—But Marcel braked mid-air.
The Enforcer passed him.
And Marcel fired his only EMP shell.
FLASH.The Enforcer died mid-flight and crashed like thunder against the far end of the ridge.
Final stretch. The relay tower pulsed ahead like a heartbeat.
Ayaka screamed over comms. "NOW, MARCEL!"
He floored it. Tires bit plasma. And with a final, screaming drift, he launched the Skyline sideways into the base of the tower—
CRASH.
The relay exploded. Sparks and satellites fell like burning angels.
Silence. Then:
RAVYN: "Syndicate network down. Surveillance blackout complete. We're ghosts now."
Ayaka skidded in beside him, breathing hard. "That… was divine."
Adrian's voice returned.
"You've just started a war, little brother."
