Hearing Loki's assurance, Riveria's expression turned serious.
Although their goddess often appeared frivolous and unreliable, when it mattered, she was incredibly perceptive.
After all, she was the Trickster God.
"If that's the case, we do need to send a team into the dungeon. But it won't be just Gareth and me, will it?" she asked Finn.
"I've sent for the Astraea Familia. Alise, Gojouno, and Ryuu will join you. That should lighten your burden considerably."
"The Astraea Familia? While they're strong, doesn't Orario need their strength right now?" Riveria was puzzled. Having been on the front lines against the dark faction, she wasn't fully aware of the overall situation.
"Thanks to the Yahweh Familia, the situation in Orario has stabilized," Finn explained.
"Mika's quick thinking alerted the Hermes Familia to the Fire Stone bombs. They quickly informed the other Familias, minimizing the damage from the initial attacks. And once the battle began, Airmid's magic and skills were invaluable, allowing us to quickly consolidate our forces."
"Under my command, we've managed to hold the line." He smiled, thinking of the Yahweh Familia's contributions.
Without them, the initial casualties would have been far greater.
"I see." Riveria nodded. "Then I'll rest for a bit while we wait for Alise and the others." She found a spot and sat down, letting out a sigh of relief.
Although Airmid's magic had restored her stamina, she was still mentally exhausted.
The night's events had taken their toll.
"I'll go check on the others," Gareth said, heading towards the Loki Familia's camp.
"Riveria, wait." Finn hesitated, then turned to her. "Bring Ais with you on this mission."
"What?!" Riveria stood up abruptly. "Finn, she's too young! This isn't a place for her!"
"But we need her strength. This is the decisive battle, Riveria."
"…I understand." She sighed and headed towards the camp. She needed to speak with Ais, to ensure she wouldn't act recklessly during the mission. Some things had to be made clear beforehand.
....
"Argh!"
"Clang!" Buildings crumbled around them as Ottar and Zald clashed.
Unlike in the original timeline, where he had been caught off guard and defeated, Ottar had been prepared for this encounter.
He had even donned his strongest armor in anticipation of facing this formidable foe—Zald.
But even so, he was still at a disadvantage.
However, he wasn't alone. Allen, was also present.
While he wouldn't have been able to participate in such a battle in the original timeline, his Level 6 status now made him a valuable asset.
Finn's earlier plan had been crucial.
With six more Level 6 adventurers, the threat posed by Alfia and Zald was no longer as overwhelming.
They now had a fighting chance, especially since Zald and Alfia were no longer at their peak.
After being expelled from Orario, they had settled in a remote village.
But they hadn't stayed there long.
Knowing their time was short, they had left to see the world once more.
Then, they had been found by the Evil God and brought to Orario to participate in his grand scheme.
Therefore, weakened and nearing death, they were now vulnerable to those they once considered beneath them.
And this was Ottar's objective: to defeat Zald, a stronger opponent.
"Argh!"
Their auras clashed as they battled, their power far surpassing what they had displayed during their earlier duels with Mika.
Back then, they had relied solely on their physical abilities and martial skills.
However, an adventurer's true strength lay in their skills and magic.
Now, both Ottar and Zald were fighting with everything they had.
Allen could only offer limited support; he couldn't fully participate in such a high-level battle.
…
Meanwhile, the Ganesha Familia members stationed on Orario's outer walls stared in disbelief at the scene unfolding before them.
Hordes of monsters, driven from the surrounding areas by the dark faction, swarmed outside the city, threatening to breach its defenses.
"Damn it! The dark faction is using the monsters to distract us! While these surface-level monsters aren't particularly strong, once they enter the city, they'll cause chaos," one of the guards said, analyzing the situation.
"Don't worry! We won't let them through!" their leader declared confidently.
Just then, a series of explosions rocked the city.
BOOM!
"What was that?"
"The gates! Orario's gates have been breached!"
"Breached? Which gate?"
"All of them! Every single gate has been destroyed!"
Panic erupted on the walls as the adventurers and civilians realized the dark faction had found a way past their defenses.
Monsters poured into the city, wreaking havoc, while dark faction members followed, scaling the walls and attacking the Ganesha Familia.
The Ganesha Familia quickly regained their composure and fought back, determined to protect the civilians huddled on the walls.
The sounds of battle echoed around them as the terrified citizens cowered in fear. Death felt closer than ever.
…
"Attack!" Mellie, watching the battle from atop Fufu, surveyed the scene below.
"Fire Stone bombs, Alfia and Zald, the Divine Return, monsters unleashed from the dungeon…now this. Just how many surprises do they have?!"
"Wave after wave of attacks…are they trying to overwhelm our defenses completely?" she muttered angrily.
She didn't know that even the Evil God orchestrating this assault hadn't intended such a relentless barrage.
His original plan had been to unleash his attacks over seven days, culminating in a final, decisive battle, savoring the despair of his enemies, especially the Astraea Familia, whom he considered the embodiment of "Justice" and intended to torment.
However, unforeseen circumstances had forced him to change his plans.
Finn's sudden joint expedition, and the unexpected arrival of six new Level 6 adventurers, had threatened to derail his entire scheme.
After all, his plan relied on the overwhelming strength of Zald and Alfia.
Although weakened and nearing death, they still possessed considerable power, far surpassing that of Orario's single Level 6 and handful of Level 5s.
He had been confident in his ability to crush Orario's Familias.
But now, with seven Level 6 adventurers, they had a fighting chance against his two aces. And with Mika's strength added to the mix, the dark faction's advantage was dwindling.
Therefore, the Evil God abandoned his initial plan, opting for a swift, overwhelming assault, hoping to crush Orario before they could adapt.
If they failed, victory would be impossible.
This explained the relentless attacks Orario was now facing.
Looking down at the monsters pouring through the breached gates, Mellie patted Fufu. "It's your turn, Fufu."
"Roar!" Fufu, who had been circling high above, swooped down, magic gathering within him. Just before reaching the ground, he unleashed a torrent of flames.
BOOM!
The monsters within the gate were incinerated, along with nearby buildings and the dark faction members who hadn't yet reached the walls.
As Fufu turned his head, the flames swept across the area, eliminating all the enemies within the gate.
He then landed, unleashing another blast of fire at the breach, incinerating the monsters and dark faction members outside the walls as well.
"I'll leave the remaining stragglers to you," Mellie called out to the Ganesha Familia members on the walls. "I need to provide support at the other gates."
"Yes, Floral Illusionist!"
Mellie nodded and steered Fufu into the air, heading towards the next gate.
"She's more of a Dragon Witch than a Floral Illusionist," one of the Ganesha Familia members commented, watching her depart. Dragon Witch was another of Mellie's titles in Orario, due to her Dragon-Like Nen beast, Fufu.
The others nodded in agreement.
....
While Orario's adventurers fought desperately, Mika and Alfia clashed in a life-or-death duel.
"Clang!" Their weapons collided, sending sparks flying amidst the flames erupting from Mika's blade.
"Impressive. You can even channel the power of fire." Alfia chuckled, feeling the unfamiliar rhythm of her own breathing.
She had learned the Breath of Flame from Mika.
This Breath Style, created by Yahweh, was undoubtedly the pinnacle of martial arts in this world.
Learning it only intensified Alfia's curiosity about the Yahweh Familia.
"There are so many intriguing secrets hidden within your Familia. You've concealed them well, even from the other adventurers and gods. But I can sense them."
"You have so many unique techniques and skills… that shouldn't exist in this World." She smiled, gazing at Mika's serious expression.
The more she learned from him, the more convinced she became that his skills were…out of place.
"You've noticed?" he said calmly.
"Then you will die here."
