Chapter 75: The Abyssal star dragon
"Wow, you guys have cleaned up your act quite a bit. I'm impressed." Magnus visited Dragon Tale to see it a lot more orderly than his last visit. The brawls were to a minimum, the building remained intact and fairly clean, even the bigshots made sure to pay respect as he came through. It was good to see them getting it together, but their leader was not the one making all the changes.
"You two take it outside! Clean that up over there! Someone get me my ramen!" Now wearing Galileo's guild master's coat over her shoulders Galilea was barking orders. People were scrambling about at the sound of her voice, she evoked far more fear than her brother. "Ah, Magnus. Hello. What brings you here? Silver girl isn't around."
"Hello to you too Galilea…You do know my entire life doesn't revolve around Noelle?"
"I did not."
"…Anyways I'm just checking up on the guild, I hadn't heard much news about them destroying the city lately, so I got curious."
"Your concern is not necessary I have been whipping them into shape since brother left. He'll be happy to see Dragon Tale looking so formidable."
"Aww aren't you a sweet little sister. Gali will be proud," Magnus said patting her head. "I didn't know you had skills in management though."
"She's doesn't. I've been making sure she along with those idiots don't give this city any more grief, while the executives focus on the Adventurer's Guild" Velgrynd said joining the conversation. "Little Lea here just beats the insects up for me."
"That sounds about right," Magnus had no problem believing that. "So how has their training been going Velgrynd?"
"I'm pleased to say it's going great! You'd be surprised how much harder someone can fight when they think they're going to die. Lumiette dropped off a case of healing potions and they work wonders. Thanks to that stuff I can break them any way I want, and they'll still be good as new." She tossed a little bottle with a clear liquid to Magnus to inspect. Velgrynd and Magnus laughed maniacally sharing brutal training methods and regimens. With the best medics around they have no reservations with their new ideas.
"They're not serious over there are they?" -Usagi
"Magnus is a bigger monster than Velgrynd, I'm pretty sure they are."- Jupiter
"Definitely serious." -Kurasuno
"So they're going to kill us while laughing about it."-Bernie
"Boss hurry back…"-Selene
Oogway just hid inside his shell as the fabled beast listened to what should be considered torture coming to their near future.
Galilea didn't care what training was planned; she was determined to beat Morgiana. More importantly, she was still hungry, and no one brought her anything. She was sure 'bring me ramen' came out of her mouth more than once, yet she didn't have any. It was a problem that needed to be addressed immediately. "Feed me now insects! I'm tired of waiting!" She roared.
Magnus watched Galilea beat up some lackeys who tried explaining her meal would be a while longer. "Well, that escalated quickly." At this point, she was stomping around roaring flames.
"I got it," Velgrynd sighed. She punched Galilea across the room and planted her foot on her back. Struggling with all her might Galilea couldn't stand up against Velgrynd's overwhelming strength. "We can sit here until you calm down."
Galilea squirmed and flailed about to no avail. "I was promised food after training! I trained now where is my meal!?"
Velgrynd pressed down harder, and the ground cracked. "The chef is still working on your oversized meal you glutton. Be patient."
"Fine…" Galilea settled down.
"You learn a lot faster than Veldora, it used to take him years for a tantrum to end." Velgrynd let her up and she walked off grumbling. "Say Magnus where is Veldora? I heard he's been hanging around that fox friend of yours."
Magnus looked like he was in pain thinking about them. "They spend all their time at my house playing video games, and then he destroys the game…and my house when Kurama trash talks him too badly. Conversely, he can pay for the damages since he's started a chain of ramen shops that blew up in Hodge with Rebecca Silver's endorsements."
"At least he's doing something productive…selling ramen though? I wonder where that came from." Just then they heard a loud crash as Galilea sat down with two odd-looking fruit. "Galilea what are you doing?"
"I'm hungry and wanted a snack. There were snacks in that display case," motioning towards a display case now smashed open.
"Aren't those devil fruits?" Magnus asked.
"Devil fruits? Sounds tasty." Galilea licked her lips.
"No, you idiot! Do not eat that!"
Before anyone could stop her she took a bite of the first one and fell on the floor cringing. "DISGUSTING! Why would you all let me eat that?!"
"We just told you not to Galilea," Velgrynd squeezed out through gritted teeth.
"Whatever, I need something to get this taste out of my mouth" grabbing the second fruit.
"NO GALILEA DON'T-" Too late she bit into the second one and immediately regretted it even more.
Her face turned pale and she felt lethargic "H-how…how can there be two separate flavors equally…that horrible?" she groaned weakly.
"Damn it Galilea! Those were supposed to be rewards for guild missions! Hey, what's wrong with you?"
"Isn't eating two devil fruits fatal?" One of the lackeys asked.
"WHAT?! What do you mean fatal!? My little Lea can't get killed by fruit!" Velgrynd snatched the lackey up by his shirt collar.
"(She should be alright. Right Jenny?)" Magnus had to check with the system.
"(With her bloodline being derived from Galileo's, she can handle a second devil fruit. Though a third is not recommended.)"
"(Thank you.) She'll be fine Velgrynd," Magnus confirmed. "It's probably the only time she's lucky to be Gali's sister." Magnus looked at the potion in his hand and thought this would be a good time to test it. She happily drank the bitter medicine, it tasted better than the devil fruits by a long shot. "Wow, this really works. I'll have to see Lumiette about the recipe, she could make a killing." Galilea was back on her feet in seconds with even more energy than she had originally. Now he was curious to see what powers she gained. "(Jenny what fruits did she eat?)"
"(The pika pika no mi, a light type logia. And the zushi zushi no mi, a paramecia with the ability to control gravity)."
"(She's lucky. She could have almost died for a lame ability.) Do you feel any different Galilea?"
"I can do this now," she waved her hand and a beam of light extended out slicing through the building's wall, almost splitting Jupiter in two.
"Hey watch it!"
"This too." Waving her hand downwards Galilea created a force that pressed down on the area around her, pushing those too weak to resist to the floor. As the two new powers flowed through her hands she got a devilish grin on her face. "I'm going to beat Mosshead to a pulp with these."
"Aren't you still hungry?" Magnus asked stopping her in her tracks.
"I am…I should beat the chef to a pulp too."
"Or you could try this," he offered her a canister from his storage ring. As she went to open it Magnus put the almighty fortress seal around her.
"Magnus why does she need a seal to open that?" Velgrynd's question was answered when white-hot flames spilled out, filling the area as soon as the lid opened.
"That canister had the firepower of a white star inside. I was going to use it to forge a sword but then she just got those abilities. Light and gravity reminded me of a star, so I wondered what would happen if she ate one. Maybe it could trigger some sort of change in her. Regardless, it will be a nice light show." Magnus answered nonchalantly watching for something to happen amid the white.
"You're a sadistic little man." Velgrynd wanted to intervene, but she trusted his judgment.
"Whatever do you mean? I'm sure she'll surpass her limits." Inside the burning box the flames went strong for a few minutes. "(Anytime now…)" Magnus couldn't show that he did not know if she would make it or not. Eventually Galilea was left standing in the center of the box giving off a faint white glow, her eyes now a bright golden color. Magnus' eyes lit up too when he got the system notification he was waiting for.
(System notification- Due to the mixing of compatible powers; Pika pika no mi, zushi zushi no mi, abysal energy, white star fire, and darkness Galilea has undergone a mutation. She is now-)"
"The abyssal star dragon shines forth!"
"Spicy…Thanks for the meal." The barrier came down and the concentrated heat energy around her escaped through the first opening, going straight up and burning through the roof.
"Galilea how does it feel to evolve a step farther?" Magnus was pleased with the results. He could feel the vast increase in her power clearly.
"It feels…satisfying. Where is your sister I'm stronger than her now."
"(You beating my sister? Hah! Fat chance.) Wouldn't it be a good idea to get acquainted with your new abilities before starting an uphill battle?"
"No need, my new powers are simple enough." Galilea glowed a goldish white before vanishing. Most couldn't perceive the little streak darting around here and there. Reappearing in front of Magnus and Velgrynd she raised a hand and gravity seemed to turn off. Everyone in the room was sent floating aimlessly about. "See? This is easy" Galilea reclined on nothing proving her rapid mastery over her new powers.
"Don't get cocky." Velgrynd scolded her "A strong ability isn't all there is in a fight."
"I understand" Galilea said returning gravity to normal and everyone but her fell back down. "I'll be back," She flashed away but reappeared. "Magnus, I want a weapon."
"Sure. A sword?"
"No, that doesn't feel right. I want something heavy though." And just like that, she was gone again.
"She's going to go start a fight with Morgiana isn't she?" Velgrynd already knew how one tracked her mind was.
"She is indeed. I guess we'll see how it goes soon enough." Magnus answered. He was glad Morgiana had a motivated rival and a little jealous. "Oh well, we can pretend we just found out and break it up later. For now shall we have some tea?"
............
A few days later.
"What did you learn about Dragon Tale?"
"Magnus was there, he's secretly just as bad as them."
"Oh what do you mean?"
"I found out he enjoys torture and then he made that little Vermillion girl even more dangerous. Not only did she eat two powerful devil fruits he fed her a white star. After that she underwent some sort of evolution and immediately went to start trouble in town."
"Really and what did Magnus do to stop her?"
"Nothing at all sir. In fact, he seemed excited to see her go."
"I see…I was right to plant a spy in dragon tale. I knew Galileo couldn't be trusted but, Magnus doesn't surprise me either. Once a filthy commoner, always a filthy commoner. This isn't enough to take him down yet but I'm sure there's plenty of dirt on him to be found too. You keep being nobody there and remain vigilant, I want to know if you learn anything else." Releasing the spy was none other than Solid Silva in the royal garden watching a spider catch a butterfly. "If he thinks he can just turn the capital into his personal playground he's got another think coming. Magnus will never be a real noble."
