Chapter 627: Family Tradition; Ferdinand, Faelan, Francis and Francine
--
Time flowed unimpeded, and soon, it'd nearly be a hundred years since Ferdinand's birth.
The baby that Cedric used to hold and adore has now turned into a grown man. He inherited the face of his mother and the talents of his father, and he's half-human, half-fae. His mixed bloodline caused minor conflicts as he grew up, but everything turned out well; if Gilderoy or Allura couldn't solve it, Cedric would.
Last time Cedric checked, Ferdinand was dating someone. Whether he's already planning to settle down or not was a mystery, but it's something that Cedric wouldn't interfere with.
Ferdinand wasn't Cedric's only grandchild. Gerald and Godwyn also had kids of their own.
From Gerald and his wife Nina, someone from the Star Maker race, they had Faelan, a boy that looked just like his father but behaved like his mother.
Godwyn and Trish named their twins Francis and Francine, with the latter being the first little princess of the Stormrider Family.
Cedric now has four grandchildren, all of whom are now adults and might be looking to settle down with someone soon. His little idea of naming his kids with the same starting letter was now turning into a family tradition because his sons followed his ideas closely. All of his grandchildren's names start with 'F.'. And he heard somewhere, maybe from one of his grandchildren's friends, that his grandkids, too, are already thinking of continuing this tradition and will name their kids with something that starts with the letter 'D.'.
Unable to stop it and being too late to explain, he could only let the misunderstanding continue. It's not that harmful anyway.
On another note...Chancellor Igor's cubs were born.
Cedric remembered visiting to express his blessings, and he could've sworn that he had never seen the old dragon so happy in the years they've known each other. His little cubs got him wrapped around their tiny claws. They are pampered, loved, and catered to by not only their parents but by the entire race; after all, they're the next generation of Wise Dragons—true blessings since they are cursed with limited fertility.
Old Man Igor was running around with his family, showing off his kids to people he knew and showing all the territories of the Wise Dragons to his little cubs, telling them that some of these would be theirs one day as if they could understand him at this stage.
Because of their naturally long lifespans and absurd innate strength, the cubs will need more time to mature; this was normal for wise dragons. Their next 1000 years will be their infancy, and just like a human baby, they'd spend that feeding, napping, throwing tantrums, playing, and learning motor skills.
But don't be mistaken; while these might be cubs, they are capable of devastating cities even as infants. Of course, the adults will make sure they won't go that far, but these cubs are not to be seen as weak or fragile.
It's been many years since that visit. The old dragon has calmed down a lot, yet his happiness was still obvious. He was radiating parental glow. He was so focused on his cubs that he had forgone any desire to train; he only does enough for his skills to not get rusty, but nothing more than that.
Cedric couldn't blame him, nor could anyone, actually. If they were in the same shoes, they'd probably act the same.
As for the other chancellors, they too were minding their own business.
During these times, none of them brought up the truth they received from the Void Slave. They didn't talk about it nor give any hints that they're thinking about it. It's like they unanimously understood something and dropped the topic just like that.
Whether they're entertaining other ideas, well, Cedric could only speak for himself, but he doesn't know about others. And even if he does, he probably won't care too much. He knew that they wouldn't go overboard anyway.
Cedric was more concerned about his matters at this point.
**
'Void, is it over? 'Cedric asked.
Yes, sir. And it's safe now around the area. I haven't felt any additional presences either, but there are more scattered asteroids and dead planets around.
'That's actually better. At least it makes it more chaotic, making it more difficult to suspect anybody being here.'
That is true, sir. But please be aware to not go too far from this place, or else I wouldn't be able to pull you back in case of emergency.
'I hear you. Don't worry, I'm just sending out a clone for now. I'm not ready to go out there in person just yet.'
Their conversation confirmed that the ravaging spatial storm occurring around the area where this prison was located has already passed, meaning that it's more or less safe now for Cedric to come up.
Cedric had been thinking about this all the time, and he had already decided to go. Ever since knowing that the Primeval Scarlet Dust Realm and even the void itself were just part of a really large prison, the desire to break out from it sprouted in his mind and wouldn't leave. It has become an instinctual desire at this point.
But he won't recklessly go out there just because he wants to. No. He has a family here. Even though they could already function without him, Cedric was reluctant to part with them that soon because he knew that once he left this time, it would be an unknown amount of time before he could come back.
For now, sending out a clone should be enough.
Clone 2 appeared before the womb, and without any hesitation, he jumped down and was welcomed by the Void Slave, who could now appear as a dark ghost to him.
"Let's do this," Cedric's second clone declared to the Void Slave.
The Void Slave nodded back, and without any further ado, led him to the exit it created for this sole purpose.
This prison originally doesn't have an exit. Odin never made nor designed one because he thought it was unnecessary. The creatures inside were never meant or allowed to leave, after all. But it's different now, obviously. The void answers to a new master, and his orders take priority.
The clone followed and saw the exit soon.
The moment he saw the brief radiance on the other side, his heart palpitated. A deep yearning bloomed from within him, and his steps became hurried all of a sudden despite his attempts at trying to take back control of his movements.
It was only when he took his first steps outside that he finally paused.
Even with his distant connection with this clone, Cedric could directly feel the chills brought by this sensation. It was bizarre, mysterious, and endlessly profound.
When the Void Slave said that it's messy out here due to the scattered rocks and debris, he thought he already had a firm grasp of what it meant, yet he still ended up underestimating what the slave meant.
These random debris were at the size of continents; these dead stars, planets, unstable realms, and so on, were way bigger than anything he had seen before. Cedric was like an ant in front of these things.
Spreading his sense around, he turned his attention to the prison. If he hadn't known or come from there, he wouldn't have even noticed its presence at all. It's concealed extremely well, designed to not let anybody pay attention to it.
But all of these were just bonuses...
What Cedric was truly after was to start adjusting to this world. And that starts with familiarizing himself with the concept of laws here so that he can start making up for his deficiencies compared to the humans born in the Chaos Realm.
'Void, are you still there? '
I'm here, sir.
'Good. I'm going to start comprehending laws here. Alert me first, even if you have to interrupt my enlightenment, if you sense any other presence nearby, understood? '
Loud and clear, sir.
With that out of the way, Cedric sat down on one of the nearby flat surfaces and opened the mind of his clone to allow the insights in.
Boom!
Be it his clone or Cedric himself, both were stunned.
To be honest, the first impressions he got of the Chaos Realm, especially seeing this area right at the start, weren't all that great. In his mind, it was no different than the world he lived in.
It wasn't until he started this entire process that he came to realize just how different everything truly was.
Cedric felt like everything he knew was being flipped upside down. Things that he had realized, comprehended, confirmed, and used as a foundation for his life evolution...all of them were nothing but fragments of the real deal.
As the insights poured in, so too was his common sense being updated.
His mind was literally being changed in a way that would comprehend and fit the standards of the Chaos Realm. Whether this was something that just happens naturally to a person or creature like him, Cedric has yet to learn. But for now, his mind, even with thousands of thought chambers working together overtime, was being overwhelmed by the new things he was receiving.
It'd be unknown how long this would take him.
