Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi

Chapter 318: The Accomplice Has a Significant Background

With a deafening explosion, two iron gates along with the adjoining wall collapsed.

Two off-road vehicles charged through the breach and onto the grass.

As they burst into the campus, Ye Nai threw out a cement block that had been stored in the "Space" for a long time.

A 100 high-grade cement blocks congealed into a two-meter-high wall, laid out along the periphery of the college walls as if by an invisible giant hand skillfully spreading one layer and then haphazardly stacking another on top.

It blocked not only the light but also the view from outside.

Seizing the opportunity, a multitude of spores swept along the road, first picking up the enemies injured in the blast, then charging into the mountains to capture the foes who hadn't chased after them.

The two off-road vehicles, which had been charging deeper into the campus, stopped abruptly as the drivers sensed a change in the light behind them and even angled their vehicles sideways.

When they saw clearly what was behind them, they all opened their mouths in shock.

"Oh my God!"

"Space expert?"

"Is there really only one person on the roof?"

"I don't know, I glanced once, and there was only one figure."

Seated in the copilot seat of the rear vehicle, the deputy team leader pressed the car intercom, "Captain, it seems temporarily safe now. Shall we get out and check?"

"Get out, there's a national flag on the roof, it must be our own people," responded the captain from the front vehicle, also sitting in the passenger seat.

"We might as well ask if there are any medical supplies."

In the back vehicle, a Sanitation Officer checked a bloodied, unconscious casualty in the back seat before getting out with the other team members.

Looking up at the roof, their first sight was a rocket launcher pointed at them.

"Who goes there? Give the password!"

Ye Nai, holding a close-range rocket launcher, aimed at them.

From their looks and clothes, they seemed to be their own people, possibly the allies Duke had mentioned, but it was peculiar how they had managed to enter.

Moreover, they were covered in blood, but looking at how they disembarked, it wasn't they who were injured; there were casualties in the vehicle.

The group on the ground exchanged glances.

"A girl?"

"Password? What password? There are passwords? Did a lot of people come in?"

"Captain, it's up to you."

"Everyone step back, Captain, go ahead."

At the deputy captain's signal, the team members neatly stepped back, pushing the captain to the forefront.

The captain turned and glared at them irritatingly, forcing a smile amidst the laughter of his teammates.

"We are the Smoke Formation Tactical Team. Which team are you from?"

"Where did your team come from?"

"Daijing's National Defense University, Awakener College."

Ye Nai was momentarily stunned. Did Daijing's universities really have such a college?

"Are you still students?"

"Yes, yes, we are students, doing a consecutive bachelor's to master's program. It's still several years until graduation," they replied.

Ye Nai, up on the roof, was speechless. Students still in school could form their own teams and stir up turmoil in the Otherworld's vital cities. Were the student Awakeners of Daijing that powerful?

Then what did it mean to be meticulously cautious and alone in this endeavor?

"Alright, now give the password."

"What password?"

"You are students from Daijing, have you ever visited the Awakener Center?"

"Yes, we have."

All the people on the ground nodded, their expressions also relaxed a bit, confident they could answer questions about the Awakener Center.

"What street is this center on?"

"Peace Street."

The captain answered emphatically.

"Wrong!"

Ye Nai showed no mercy.

"Huh? Why not? What's wrong with Peace Street?" the captain panicked immediately.

"Wrong answer, I'll give you a chance to correct it."

"Peace Avenue! It's Peace Avenue!"

While the captain was still looking confused, a female team member behind him raised her hand high and shouted the new answer.

"Correct answer."

"Huh? Peace Avenue? Isn't it Peace Street?"

"Do you really have to nitpick like this?"

"It's a passphrase, take it seriously."

The team members chattered among themselves, not too tense about the rocket launcher aimed at them from the rooftop, mainly because the more skilled they are, the braver they become. Despite appearing unserious and unreliable on the surface, students who could enter the National Defense University Awakener College were actually the cream of the crop.

"Second question, what number is on Peace Avenue where the Awakener Center located?"

"Huh?!"

The captain was stumped again, returning to the team and brainstormed with everyone.

"I remember it's over a thousand, but I can't recall the exact number."

"Seems like just over one thousand, I remember I looked up the address on my phone."

A member from the Space Department hurriedly took out his phone.

"Your phone still works?"

"Offline maps, yeah, the maps I've looked up on the phone download the offline package, right?"

"Damn, I forgot."

Reminded by this, everyone started pulling out their phones, as everyone had searched the Awakener Center's address at least once.

"Got it, got it, Number 1080! Peace Avenue 1080!"

Ye Nai, on the rooftop, seeing them take out their phones and their skilled movements, thought there shouldn't be any problems now.

The people on the ground saw the rocket launcher retracting and cheered.

"Boss, boss, are you alone? Why not come down for a chat? We've got some food, let's share a meal?"

The captain shouted from below, but no head appeared.

"Did the person disappear?" the team members chattered.

"No, they're coming down." The captain dropped his earlier frivolous expression, "The flow of the wind tells me only one person is moving inside, though there were clearly more people on the rooftop earlier."

Instinctively, everyone turned back and glanced at the huge concrete block that sealed the doorway tightly.

"This boss has no small space, to think a top space power ventured into the Otherworld alone?"

"The people on the roof earlier, could it be the boss captured some prisoners and then took them all into the space to kill them?"

"Makes sense, if the boss is acting alone, ensuring no one else is around is the wisest decision."

"Lucky for us she didn't actually open fire."

"Wait, how did she manage to gather scattered prisoners alone and take them to the rooftop? Did she keep them all in her space and then take them out on the rooftop? What for, to search them?"

"Shut your brain off, thinking too much about someone else could get you killed."

"Looks like we came at a bad time, interrupting the boss's business, no wonder she thought about blasting us."

"The boss must be curious about which route we took to get here."

"I'm curious about which route the boss used to get here too."

"Wait a bit, the person will be coming out soon."

The team members were endlessly chattering, but one sentence from the captain shut them all up. The sanitation officer turned back to the vehicle and used his superpower to check on the condition of the injured again. "How is Laoliu doing?"

Seeing the sanitation officer come down from the vehicle, everyone asked anxiously.

"He's lost a lot of blood, we can't stay here any longer, we need to find the way back as soon as possible and take him back."

Just then, the captain made a gesture for everyone to be quiet.
