Enemies Are All Nourishment for My Fungi

Shi Lin and the others immediately ran over.

"It's done already?"

"How did it go, how did it go?"

"How's Laoliu doing?"

"He's already recovered so quickly? Was it smooth?"

"It went well, the boss is so amazing, he even fixed the lungs, but Laoliu can't travel far now, we have to wait till tonight to discuss further."

"Alright, we'll find a place to set up camp, then move Laoliu over."

Learning that Laoliu's surgery had gone smoothly, Shi Lin didn't stay to chat but ran to the outside of the operating room to look inside.

Laoliu was still lying asleep on the operating table, covered with a disposable blanket, the blood transfusion had ended, and he was now on an IV drip.

Ye Nai was alone inside, tidying up after the surgery, having changed into a new pair of gloves, she packed the used surgical instruments into a stainless steel sealed container, then wrapped them with a medical blanket before putting them away into her space.

She disposed of what needed to be disposed of and packed away the medical waste bin into her space before heading out.

Pushing the glass door open with her elbow, she saw Shi Lin with her team members standing a meter away, expressing their gratitude to her.

Ye Nai smiled and nodded.

"Your team member will be fine and recover, but he can't leave today. You guys drive to the back and set up camp. Have two people move the patient onto the gurney and slowly push it over there, the smoother, the better. Sanitation Officer, bring the IV fluids."

After giving instructions, Ye Nai went to wash her hands.

"Yes, yes!"

With a wave of her hand, Shi Lin's teammates dispersed to get busy, some heading to drive the vehicles, others to move the injured.

The Sanitation Officer, who had already washed his hands and changed clothes, followed two teammates back into the operating room with the gurney. They were responsible for transferring their teammate to the bed while the Sanitation Officer carried the IV fluids, and the three of them together escorted the gurney out.

Shi Lin was responsible for being by Ye Nai's side, watching her wash and change, and then telekinetically packed up materials like the mobile prefab units into her space.

"Boss, is your Space Superpower a range-based ability?"

"What?"

"Within a certain area, you can use it at will without touching objects."

"Is it? I don't know, I've never seen a second person like me."

"I think it is."

"Have you seen another Space User like me?"

"No, just a theoretical conjecture."

"The way you put it, I thought I had the same kind."

"We wish for that, too. If there were such a talent, we'd definitely recruit them into the army. A range-based superpower is the most powerful for clearing enemy lines."

"Yeah, that's true. Once they step into range, no matter how many people there are, all of them are taken away."

Shi Lin whooshed a step closer, assuming the posture of whispering a secret head to head.

"Boss, boss, we haven't heard any enemy sounds from outside the concrete blocks, is it all cleared by you?"

"Do you want to take a few back with you?"

"No, no, I'm just asking. We've got a seriously injured person, and if there's danger, we need to plan ahead. Otherwise, it's hard to escape with him."

"Boss, please accept my knee!"

Shi Lin clasped his hands together in a salute, truly wanting to kneel before Ye Nai. "Ah." Shi Lin felt a rush of anxiety, "Boss, we can't hide the surgery. As you've seen, our sanitation officer isn't capable of such emergency surgeries."

"Tsk, think of a solution."

"There's a living person right here, how can this be thought through?"

"The exclusive service I'm offering isn't a cash transaction, you know. If you don't write the report, I won't write the medical record. Both sides have no evidence, and I can skimp on some taxes."

Shi Lin's forehead broke out in sweat, but suddenly, a stroke of inspiration sparked her ingenuity.

"Like this, the Heart Core is a gift, not a fee for exclusive service."

"Hmm?"

"Yes, a gift. Meeting a fellow countryman in the Otherworld, we're so thrilled, you've helped us enormously, and we have nothing to give in return. So, we're giving a Heart Core as a gift, I'll still write the medical record, and once you're out, come to the National Defense University to get reimbursed by our academy."

"That's possible?"

"Yes! It has to be! If our report goes up and they don't reimburse you afterward, it smacks not just our team's face but also the school's, and the school leaders aren't that foolish."

The more Shi Lin talked, the better she thought her idea was, and excitedly, she grasped Ye Nai's hands.

Shi Lin excitedly tucked away her phone and tugged Ye Nai's arm toward her car.

The patient had been wheeled away on a gurney, the rest of the team took one of the vehicles and left one parked on the spot, which Shi Lin and Ye Nai then got into.

After circling the building by the main entrance, they came to a spacious area behind it.

The space was mostly large grassy fields divided into sections by paths leading to different buildings, with ornamental shrubs and trees, stone benches for resting, and large shade trees, an ideal place for teachers and students to take a break.

While Ye Nai and Shi Lin had been talking earlier, the members of the Smoke Formation Tactical Team had already set up camp on a patch of grass.

When the car stopped, the team members gathered around and enthusiastically pointed out the surrounding sewage drains to Ye Nai.

Ye Nai positioned herself next to the drainage pipe, first deploying the electric awning, then setting up the water equipment next to it, and starting up the bathroom boiler.

The waste pipe was still removed from the waste tank, extending from under the awning, and placed atop the drainpipe.

The weather in the Duke Domain was a bit colder than Beigen Village, chilling hands and faces with the wind and even causing a runny nose, yet not quite cold enough for breath to show.

But once inside the awning, the chill and cold air were blocked out, and one wouldn't immediately lose all the warmth upon leaving the bathroom to the cold wind.

By this time, having arrived at the Duke Domain early in the morning, then hurried to the Wizard Academy, and having performed emergency surgery, it was just time for local noon. Others took their showers, while Ye Nai leisurely set out the noble's long table, took out takeaway emergency rations, and had lunch.

As Shi Lin and the others came out of the bathroom one by one, Ye Nai was just finishing up her meal.
